* The song "Caballo de Palo" composed for the 1982 Juguemos a Cantar Mexican song festival, is a sad ballad relating a kid that questions his father about getting again an old hobby-horse in Christmas because they are too poor to get a new toy. The song was so sad, that the production wanted to be cut short of the program, just to have Juanito Farias, singing it "a capella" and getting the second place (in a controversial result).

* A popular item in Mexican gift stores is a t-shirt with a kid/adult watching in disgust with a phrase "Mi [family member/friend] vino de [place] y solo me trajo esta pinche playera" (Lit. My [family member/friend] came from [place] and just brought me this lame shirt!)
