*** Nope, that's not a shop at all. It's a cosplayer. It's actually pretty well done, but you can see the line where the mask meets the neck, which gives it away as a fan in a very amusing costume.

*** This Troper did. I was in fact rather dissapointed when the back of the Bertie Bott's tin told you what the flavors were.

** this troper had an original Belle Barbie from the '90's, and she had both the blue and golden dresses. Not so much anymore, she guesses.

** I realize I'm probably codifying the trope, but why don't they do that for some of the other racing fandoms?

*** Doesn't anyone remember the StarWars Vans in the 70s? The same old Matchbox or Hot Wheels vans, except with Darth Vader or C-3PO on them. (on the other hand, if there had been a later Return of the Jedi one with the partially completed Death Star, it would be an amusing accidental Defictionalization from the sixth season of Buffy).
*** ThisTroper has seen a Daredevil die-cast car. I'm NOT FUCKING KIDDING.

**** Did it fire Nerf bats?

** This troper has only heard of them in North/South American countries.
** Every child under 13 in this Troper's neighborhood has seen Avatar, actually. As long as it keeps the kiddies quiet, parents don't care what it is anymore.

** Are we sure that's MisaimedMarketing? Japanese otakudom is legendary for being an extremely weird lot.
** And as seen in some TV Tropes pages (this one in particular), LCL is compared to Tang among the fandom.
** Also, LCL in Rebuild is apparently red.
*** And didn't Shinji say that LCL tastes like blood in the series??
**** That explains Mari's quote on the character page...
* The SuzumiyaHaruhi LightNovels: "Series/Heroes meets HannahMontana!" and "If you loved Twilight you will love this!" Just they wait 'till the complex time travel bits.
** Or the constant obscure literary/mythological/historical/mathematical references. Or you know, anything that comes out of Kyon, Yuki or Koizumi's mouths.
** "If you loved Twilight?" I can't think of a single remotely significant similarity between them. Seems like a good way to drive off both your target audience and the PeripheryDemographic by setting up a massive pile of wrong expectations...
*** To be fair not everyone who has read Twilight only reads stuff like, well, Twilight.

** Some of the merchandise in the film wasn't even accurate. If this Troper recalls correctly, "Spaceballs the coloring book" was a Transformers item.

The Expendables Action figures

Added DiffLines:

* When asked by a reporter if there will be action figures based on TheExpendables, Sylvester Stallone replied that there will be figures that don't move, just float face down in the water, and that kids will love it. Hot Toys are actually going to do action figures based on the film, but as with most Hot Toys collectibles, they will most likely be high-end, expensive products that kids won't find fun.

Pro wrestling action figures

Added DiffLines:

* Figures of pro wrestlers, complete with action features that help little kids recreate their signature moves. Marketing a female figure in a bikini (based on someone who has posed for Playboy) is unsettling at best, but action figures that "sweat"?! Please, no. And need I mention that pro wrestling, for all its gimmickry, is driven by child-unfriendly violence and sexual suggestiveness?

* Or how 'bout what Disney's does with its "DisneyPrincess" line -- including Mulan. * In Watchmen, Ozymandias has an action figure line planned using the main characters, all of whom are Deconstruction deconstructed superheroes, at best antiheroes and at worst mass-murdering psychopaths. However, official ones are being released as a movie movie tie in--it's not clear whether this is tongue-in-cheek or whether they're just milking all they can out of it.

* FightClub deals with modern society's repression of the masculine instinct, with pain, adrenaline and physical reality replaced by vapid consumerism and technology, with Tyler's whole philosophy revolving around rejecting the artificial, emasculating pleasures of modern living and embracing the harsh but fulfilling existence of our ancestors. In light of all that, one can only imagine the sort of rant Tyler Durden would give upon finding out that there's a video game based on Fight Club.

* The old FPS game Blood had a secret level set in a small shopping mall. One of the stores had a nice display of Blood action figures, including little shotgun-wielding crazed cultists and scythe-wielding ghosts.

** Harry Potter went through the EXACT same thing, anyone remember that vibrating Nimbus 2000 Broomstick made by Mattel? Shortly after it was released during the 2001 holiday season, girls apparently began discovering that toy had "other" functions as evidenced by some of the reviews by parents on Amazon talking about how even their older daughers LOVED playing with that toyIfYouKnowWhatIMean. Mattel caught on to this after awhile and permanently discontinued the item, good luck finding one now!
