Adding a note to the That 70\'s Show entry

Added DiffLines:

*** This is plausible. It isn't exactly a hallucination, more an optical illusion caused by the inability to focus, but any repeating pattern can seem to scroll, shift or move when high.

Adding example: Half Baked

to:

* HalfBaked uses this trope, but at least it only seems to apply to the really good shit Thurgood gets from the government lab. Semi-justified in that it is so good that other people can see your hallucinations too.

* In FamilyGuy, the episode where Peter and Lois had a band. They used Marijuana as the group's muse and it doesn't take much to get them completely baked, rolling on the floor and moaning nonsense (while thinking that they were singing a great song while unicorns danced in the background).

DeanBitterman or the DotingParent is tricked or cajoled into smoking up, or more likely eating a pot brownie. Five minutes later, they're riding a unicorn through a rainbow, or arguing with the plants, or being chased by musical notes in time to the background music. Expect to hear Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" or "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. It's almost as if they've actually taken a powerful hallucinogen. Yes, they've found out that in their universe, marijuana is LSD.

Marijuana is one of the less potent psychoactive drugs. It causes euphoria, disassociation, hunger and occasionally paranoia. It also takes a little while to get used to it - often, people doing it their first time don't feel any effects at all. Even very high doses won't cause hallucinations in 99% of the population.

* Inverted in SamAndMax Season 2: Moai Better Blues, where basalt is said to make Moai 'turn on, tune in and drop out' (a phrase associated with LSD). If you feed one of the Moai basalt, he claims that he's hallucinating, but otherwise just acts giggly and stoned. He also exhales stone dust in a way that looks like smoke, Sam jokingly calls him 'Cheech', and Max teases him for being a lightweight by not holding it in for more than a few seconds. Obviously this is justifiable, though.

Trimmed down the Family Guy example

* In FamilyGuy, the episode where Peter and Lois had a band. They used Marijuana as the group's muse. Having already done so much of it in their past for it to have long term effects on their intelligence, it doesn't take much to get them completely baked, rolling on the floor and moaning nonsense (while thinking that they were singing a great song while unicorns danced in the background). Chris then gives a rant at the end about how Marijuana contains THC. It does, in fact, contain the substance, but not enough to cause LSD-like effects. Instead it causes long term damage, which Chris correctly points out before Stewie interrupts him by singing show tunes.
** Which, in hindsight, is hypocritical considering the fact that "Episode 420" was pro-marijuana, and Seth MacFarlane himself admitted to enjoying his "doobage" from time to time.
*** How is it hypocritical to state the dangers of a drug and not to use it irresponsibly?
