* ''Franchise/{{Noob}}'' seems to have a dowplayed version of this between [[Nazetrîme and Master Zen]]. The target's feeling toward the situation differs between the two media in which the crush in mentionned. The webseries has his reaction to it shown while he's giving a "I'm superior to you guys" speech to the protagonists, so he shows a "nice, uh?" reaction to the woman mentionning her crush on him during her own introduction. However, the comic version has the crush menntionned when the two are alone with their own guilmates, and his reaction is closer to "Got it, you like me, now stop walking so close to me.".

* Itsuki from ''Manga/YuYuHakusho''. May be subverted in that [[spoiler: it ''may'' be reciprocal on Sensui's part, but he's too crazy and obsessed with TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt to care]]. The only one of the seven Sensui selves Itsuki seemed to think he had any romantic mileage with was the girl. Which, yeah. All of him liked having Itsuki around to help out, though.

** Russia beats and stalks Lithuania, the only person he seems to be truly happy around. Considering that Russia is a male {{Yandere}}... well.

* ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}'': Mummymon is head over heels in love with fellow villian [[MinionShipping Arukenimon]], even though she ''clearly'' isn't interested. Subverted somewhat in that neither of them are particularly crazy, and she's willing to tolerate him unless he gets too touchy-feely.

** More of an inversion though. Eva has no illusions that she is actually in love with Tenma; she only wants to be with him because her life went down the crapper after she dumped him for no good reason, only to realise much later after a string of bad boyfriends (one a homicidal lunatic) that Tenma was probably the only one who actually cared for her. Her rationale swings between a consciously doomed attempt to recapture that love, and more usually a resolution that, if she has to suffer, Tenma must suffer with her.

*** The trying-to-eat-a-steak-while-voluntarily-in-a-bondage-straitjacket thing was funny, though, in a horrible way.
*** Uh... wasn't that after Knives broke his spine for trying to MurderTheHypotenuse while Knives was in his healing vat?

*** This seems to be Joker's motivation for his war on the Bat Family and Batman's rogues.

* Subverted in "The Acid Test," in issue #11 of ''The Haunt of Fear'', when a woman threw acid in her slavishly devoted husband's face to discourage his attentions and he argued in court that it was done in the heat of the moment and he still loved her, only to reveal that it was all part of his plot for revenge and gloat about how, once he gave her the same treatment, she'd ''never leave him again''...

* BK Willis' "To Die For" series of {{Doctor Who}} fics features an Adric who's pretty much the equivalent of ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'''s Kenny and a Nyssa who ''causes'' said deaths every time he tries to approach her in a romantic or even semi-friendly manner, played for black comedy.

* ''Film/TheRockyHorrorPictureShow'''s Columbia falls under this. She's hopelessly devoted to [[TimCurry Dr. Frank N Furter]] despite the fact that he views her as nothing more than his "groupie". This is later [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] when Columbia finally realizes that Frank doesn't give a damn about her and [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome totally chews his ass out for it.]]

* Pepe [=LePew=] from ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes''. The clawing, the biting, the beatings, the screaming and running away? He's confident that the object of his desire is just "playing hard to get."

*** In a similar vein, there is also Fifi [=LeFume=] from ''TinyToonAdventures'' who chases after any potential skunk boyfriends (or more to the point, male dogs or cats that have white stripes down their back and were doused in black paint).
**** Speaking of ''Tiny Toon'', how about Elmyra? One may think she certainly qualifies, though in a zoophiliac version of the trope.
*** Incidentally, those shorts that show how much of a spitfire an interested Penelope can be suggest that Pepe's scent is literally the only thing driving her away; sad, then, that Pepe is intimidated by assertive women and rapidly loses interest as soon as one or both of them does something to take his smell out of the equation.

[[AllLoveIsUnrequited Unrequited Love]] [[LoveHurts can hurt.]] ''A lot.'' That is, of course, assuming that the target of all those [[SickeninglySweethearts squishy pink emotions]] is [[SelectiveObliviousness unaware of them]] and the sender [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy is painfully aware of this.]] Sometimes, though, the roles are reversed. The object of affection not only is perfectly aware of this one-sided crush, but actively tries to tell his erstwhile {{Love Interest|s}} that he isn't interested. Sometimes ''violently''. The LoveInterest, meanwhile, [[SelectiveObliviousness fails to get the very clear message]], to the point that they go past mere [[ClingyJealousGirl Clingy Jealous Person]] and become what any sane person would consider a StalkerWithACrush, or a PsychoSupporter if they honestly mean no harm to the other party and also respect their ideas.

Compare with the more serious LoveMartyr, whose unconditional love is presented (or at least intended) as ''genuinely'' selfless and noble instead of [[{{Yandere}} crazy, funny and/or stupid]]. Compare MinionShipping and UnholyMatrimony. Further compare with {{Yandere}}. Contrast with VitriolicBestBuds, where this involves friends. For BonusPoints, throw in some [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther moments of affection going the other way]], leaving watchers REALLY wondering what's going on.

Later, he ''does'' come to develop feelings for her and when he told her he reciprocated her love, she responded by tying him to a chair and keeping him drugged, to ensure that he'd stay "safe". It is worth noting that, despite being as reasonably sane as is humanly possible while also being capable of massacring orphans (ItMakesSenseInContext), ''he's still with her'' after escaping from the chair.

* Juvia of ''Manga/FairyTail'' has become this since Gray, who was originally just [[ObliviousToLove oblivious to her love]], bluntly turns her down in chapter 338.

** Kamatari had it even worse, though I don't think either case with Shishio really applies--he was quite happy to have them around, he's just AllTakeAndNoGive.
*** Kamatari had it even worse because he's a [[VillainousCrossdresser crossdresser]] and gay, though hardly gender-queer at all (he laughs and flashes Misao when she mistakes him for a woman), and is perfectly aware that he's not the strongest or the most beautiful retainer, and can't compete for Shishio's attention on either field. Even if Shishio liked guys, he'd still probably go for Soujiro. Ow, BrainBleach please.
*** Fans theorize that Kamatari probably has a past in Kabuki as an onnagata somehow. Onnagata sometimes also worked as high-end call boys, for the right fans.
*** Shishio's good looks are utterly ruined by hideous full-body burn scars, but this doesn't appear to put off either admirer. Maybe that's because despite being horribly CoveredWithScars (and he wasn't THAT bad-looking when in full shape), the dude is also [[MagnificentBastard damn smart and charismatic]].
* Ladd Russo and his fiance Lua in ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}'' share quite the odd romantic relationship, what with Ladd being a delightfully AxCrazy PsychoForHire and Lua being an oddly [[DissonantSerenity serene]] masochist. To them, "I'll kill you last", means "I love you."
** Specifically, "I'll kill you last" as in "I'm saving you for last because I'll enjoy killing you the most."

* There are hints that [[TheVamp Carmilla]] from the ''VideoGame/{{Castlevania}}'' series feels this way towards her master Dracula. Dracula seems to be indifferent, but Carmilla worships him and does everything in her power to aid him in leading humanity into darkness despite showing no true hatred towards humans.

* [[Franchise/{{Batman}} Harley Quinn and Joker]]. The one shot comic ''[[TropeNamer Mad Love]]'', which was later adapted into an episode of the same name, that tells how Dr. Harleen Quinzel, then a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, first met SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker. The Joker saw her immediately as a tool to be used, and manipulated her into becoming a henchmen. However, at the climax, Joker ''[[MoralEventHorizon tosses Harley out a 3rd story window]]'' for getting the upper-hand on Batman ''without'' him, and she blames herself because she "didn't get the joke". Cut to Arkham at the end of the episode with a heavily-bandaged Quinn vowing in her normal voice that her life of crime was over since she now saw the Joker for what he was: "a murderous, manipulative, irredeemable -" At which point she spots a rose sitting in her cell with a note of apology from Mr. J, causing her to smile and dreamily say "Angel!" in Harley's voice. Definitely chilling, and worth a watch. Even more so in the comic, Dr. Leeland asks Harley what it felt like to be treated so poorly after all she's done. Harley notices the rose and says "Like a kiss" which is all the more disturbing. (In fact, it's a ShoutOut to the 1962 The Crystals song, "[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He_Hit_Me_%28It_Felt_Like_a_Kiss%29 He Hit Me (It Felt Like a Kiss)]]".) According to [[WordOfGod Bruce Timm]], The Joker ''really does'' need her, saying, "Everyone's seen The Joker laugh. Harley is the only one who's seen him ''cry''."

* Quite a few relationships in ''PandoraHearts'' are like this, like Jack for Lacie, Oz for Alice, Vincent for Gil, possibly even [[HoYay Gil for Oz]]...
Echo for Vincent looks like it's going to be a major one after the release for chapter 89.

* In ''Literature/SecondApocalypse'' [[spoiler:Cnaiür]] develops a very twisted sort of love/obsession with [[spoiler:Serwë]] who wants nothing to do with him.
** She wants nothing to do with him because he expresses love by ''raping her repeatedly.'' But this is also because he has already had his love twisted and abused deliberately by [[spoiler:Moenghus]].

* In ''Series/TheFlash'' TV series, Mark Hamill's Trickster character seems rather like a dry run for his Joker performance, to the point of having his own Harley Quinn, an unstable thrill-addicted toy designer who calls herself Jinx:

[[LoveMakesYouCrazy They were lovers by the end of the year, if not sooner. Then Neuburg had a nervous breakdown.]]

* Many, many HarryPotter fanfictions portray Bellatrix Lestrange as feeling this way towards Voldemort, but ''HarryPotterAndTheMethodsOfRationality'' is one of the few works to make all the awful treatment she endures because of it explicit rather than mere subtext. It is ''not'' PlayedForLaughs, and in fact firmly establishes Voldemort as irredeemably evil in Harry's mind when he realises that he can be presented with such fanatical, unconditional devotion and not love her back, not even a little bit.

* Bellatrix Lestrange in ''Franchise/HarryPotter'' embodies this trope. She's as mad as they come, and her devotion to Voldemort is nothing short of obsessive.

* Nathan Leopold, who was willing to engage in criminal acts of an escalating nature as long as Richard Loeb (who was more successful socially, better liked and better looking- as well as sociopathic) had sex with him. (Then again, Nathan wasn't exactly an innocent either, considering that the sex in question tended to be simulated rape. (Criminal activity being far more excusable than prefering kinky sex.))

* The documentary ''[[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790706/ Crazy Love]]'' documents the real-life (and pathetic) MadLove between Linda Riss and Burt Pagach. After the two had an affair (which Riss ended), Paguch hired men to throw lye in her face. He went to jail, but Riss dumped her fiance (who still wanted to be with her after the attack) and married Paguch after he got out. Certainly brings new meaning to the phrase "severe co-dependence".
