* Sergeant Askal in ''VideoGame/FreedomPlanet2'' is a bit of a jerk thanks to ongoing half-breed discrimination, but it hardly excuses him for looking down on Team Lilac despite General Gong and Lieutenant Neera's commendations for their service in [[VideoGame/FreedomPlanet fighting off Brevon's invasion three years ago]]. His big issue with Milla is this trope, never mind that she was just as helpful as the other two. [[spoiler:And this is before she learns from Serpentine that she was bioengineered as a supersoldier.]] Nevertheless, Askal is in for a rude awakening when he comes to blows with the pup.

* Averted in "Literature/NoNeedForACore", the thirteen-year-old kid may be a secondary character, but she's also a three-tailed kitsune who is being groomed to become the next Clan Matriarch. No one underestimates her. Other young teens are similarly well treated by the main cast.

* In ''ComicBook/AquamanSwordOfAtlantis'', Arthur is younger than the original Aquaman and villains frequently make disparaging comments about his youth, skinnier build, and lack of experience.

* ''Manga/AfterGod'': Tokinaga is very insistent in reducing Waka's involvement due to her being young, despite her being 18 and quite capable of taking care of herself.

* ''Anime/DigimonTamers'' is notorious for this, as every single one of the main characters' families plays the Just A Kid card. [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Jenrya's]]/Henry's mom was probably the most memorable -- she was the only one who never really supported the idea of her son fighting, even after seeing him in action.

* This was the main plot of ''WesternAnimation/TheSpongebobSquarepantsMovie''. [=SpongeBob=] (who's implied to be in his 20s but [[ManChild acts much younger]]) got this from nearly everyone in the movie as a reason he's not capable of doing what he sets out to do. Of course, he does prove himself.

* In ''Literature/TheJeremiahSchool'', Peter Stone upon his 11th birthday is called by God to be "a prophet to the nations". Like [[Literature/BookOfJeremiah the prophet Jeremiah]], Peter tells God he doesn't know how to speak, for he is "only a child". God thinks otherwise and anoints Peter with power for the task at hand.

** Played with when ComicBook/SpiderBoy - a ten-year-old kid claiming to be Spidey's KidSidekick who was briefly [[RetGone erased from existence and subsequently forgotten by everyone even after his reappearance]] - turns up. Spider-Man initially balks at the idea of the boy taking part in his dangerous lifestyle for multiple reasons including this trope, and tries to bar him from superhero work entirely. He comes around somewhat after Bailey demonstrates that [[PintsizedPowerhouse he is far from incompetent]] and explains his memories of their history together, but remains firm on the caveat that under ''no'' circumstances will the kid engage with any "A-list" villains. Bailey respects Peter enough to accept this (he had stated that this was pretty much their arrangement anyway up to that point), and willingly restricts himself to taking on "D-listers" with Spidey's support and dropping out if Spidey decides they're up against a foe he's not yet ready to handle.

* In the ''Literature/TheCattleRaidOfCooley'', Queen Medb writes off Cu Chulainn when he first issues a challenge against her forces. Sure, Fergus says he's an unstoppable badass that outclasses all of her men, but he's just a seventeen-year-old boy - [[TemptingFate what chance could a single teenager possibly have against an entire army of battle-hardened soldiers?]]

* In ''Fanfic/WeMakeOurOwnLight'', this is how Dunstan's first interaction with Dark Sun Gwyndolin ended -- the undead was mortified by how ''small'' the deity was under his golden mask, and centuries later, he still cannot forget the sight of a frail Gwyndolin crushed under the weight of ruling.

** ''Tamers'' wasn't the only season to have a JustAKid situation. The English dub of ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' had Cody get this treatment from his older teammates, two of whom (T.K. and Kari) conveniently forgot that Cody is older than they were during their first adventure with the Digimon. (This was not in the case in the original Japanese version, where it was the opposite; he was conversely treated as a peer despite Japanese seniority culture usually suggesting otherwise, although Iori himself was hinted to have a complex about it.)
