* When an agnostic or atheist critic of the Catholic Church says things like "the Catholic Church has not changed in 2000 years and is completely out-of-touch with the world", it's supposed to be an insult. Except that many Catholics take that as a compliment, since it means that the Church has remained faithful to the original teaching of her Lord for 2000 years and has managed to not be corrupted by the world. (Whether you regard it as a compliment or an insult, it is not really true; the Church unquestionably ''has'' changed over the centuries, and Catholics are rather in the habit of fighting each other about those changes.)

* In ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11951614/1/Not-Those-Gates Not Those Gates]]'', a ''Series/{{Castle}}'' fic set after [[spoiler: Caleb shot Castle and Beckett toward the end of the series finale]], Beckett's former captain Victoria Gates arrived at their loft just in time. Later when Beckett woke up in the hospital, she realized that she had called Gates by her nickname "Iron Gates" while under the influence of painkillers, and that Gates overheard it. Gates shrugged it off, saying, "As if I wasn't aware of that name. I bear it with pride, you know...it paid tribute to my tenacity. I don't see anything wrong about it."

* To {{Objectivis|m}}ts and some libertarians, selfishness would be the fulfillment of free-market and individualist ideals, so they would react to being called selfish with pride. However, this doesn't apply to all libertarians equally, with some countering accusations of greed and selfishness by saying that they are simply okay with both selfishness and altruism as long as the actions they lead to are voluntary and non-coercive, and with others openly denouncing the more individualist wing of the movement and/or advocating for various private charities.
