In {{Icarly}} Fredie and Sam entire lifes are centered towards[[EscapistCharacter Carly]] ,as a matter of fact without Carly , there wouldn't be a friendship between them as
Sam and Fredie dislike each other, however neither of the two will hesitate at once to please her.

** Both the Cullens and the werewolves look for her despite the risk she brought to them. They happily accept her in their {{Nakama}} as a friend without an effort on her part despite the fact that both factions are normally not very open to [[{{Muggle}} average humans]].

* In ''{{Smallville}}'' while Lex Luthor genuinely wants to trust people, his position in power plus the fact that he tends to be overprotective and leads to him losing the few friends he has, making him fall into this.

The person enjoying the fantasy often will [[EscapistCharacter put themselves on the shoes]] of [[TheHero the leader]] of a [[{{Nakama}} group of friends]] or otherwise the center of attention of a duo or a group.

While in RealLife a true friendship needs time and investment, in this kind of fantasy settings often [[EscapistCharacter the protagonist]] will obtain deep bonds and friendships with little to no effort at all, this friends will often bend to the needs of the [[EscapistCharacter main character]] and without the hardships real friendship has in RealLife and be incredibly loyal to each other in very little time.

This [[WishFulfillment wish]] is not just limited to fictional characters. People [[FriendlessBackground with few relationships in RealLife]] will often look to supply said needs on the internet and with videogames.

Using electronic media, people will look to fulfill their desire of having people they can confide with, as this e-relationships eliminates most of the hardships of RealLife friendship and it helps shy people [[BeneathTheMask to open themselves and show how they really are]] without [[{{GIFT}} worrying about their self image]].

This trope also applies to fictional characters who have are motivated by the need to have friends, as not every fictional [[{{Batman}} character]] [[IWorkAlone enjoys loneliness]]. They might or might not be [[ShrinkingViolet shy characters]], but one thing is for sure: they can't stand being alone.

The reasons for the loneliness of fictional character vary. Maybe [[WhatMeasureIsANonHUman the character is not human]], or is misunderstood, or had a DarkAndTroubledPast, or is a jerk or [[ShrinkingViolet too shy to make friends]]; see FriendlessBackground for more reasons.

*(Type B)Starfire from "{{TeenTitans}}" before joining the team was very lonely , even after she joined , when she tough she was being replaced by her sister blackfire it affected her deeply , she isn't very fond of losing them.

*(Type B)Timmy Turner from doesn't really have much friends ( he has only two human friends) and in one episode pretended to be a cool rich kid to be accepted in trixie tang social group only to discover that he wasn't being loved for being himself but for the stuff he wished for.

*(Type B)Randal from {{Recess}} had this ,coupled with a HeelFaceTurn , tough at [[StatusQuoIsGod the end he prefered being the Teacher´s pet]] abandoned all his friends and had a FaceHeelTurn.

#Aang himself had this , despite being among the most social perons of the main cast , when Sokka and Katara were going to abandon him looking for their dad Aang hide their map becuase he was scared of being alone
#Azula she tough she had friends until the boliling rock were [[spoiler: her "friends" betraqyd her , but to be fair they were never her friends they were just scared of her]]at the last episode she [[spoiler:went insane in part becuase whe couldnt trust in anyone ,becuase of that she beccame very paranoic]].

(type A)There are probably too many fanfics to list that appeal to this wish. The appeal of the BlackHoleSue and The PuritySue are arguably derived from this wish (as well as the specific desire to have certain characters as friends, including characters that in canon are untrusting (ex Vegeta,Tinkerbell etc).
