* ''The Institute for Singular Antiquities'' second book ''The Beast of Nightfall Lodge'', Dr. "Pops" Spooner is a sadistic snake oil salesman (he was a former pimp). However his green elixir really does work miracles, including reviving Billy the Kid shortly after the Kid was killed by Pat Garrett. This elixir when injected will plug holes with new flesh and seal up cuts, though it doesn't work very well on mangled bone. The secret was that Pops once found a crashed alien pilot who a humanoid plant, curious about the unconscious alien he decapitated it and took the head. This triggered the alien's [[HealingFactor incredible regenerative ability]] through a green slime that the head started excretion. Pops collected the slime and soon learned it gives a person a PsychicLink to the alien head, where it shares its memories and regeneration. So those injected are BlessedWithSuck as they temporarily gain regeneration but can lose themselves in alien memories.
