* Mike Curb has had one of the oddest career arcs of anyone in the entertainment field. At age 18 in 1963 he started the indie record label Sidewalk Records ([[PunnyName Sidewalk[=/=]Curb]], geddit?), then began doing ExploitationFilm soundtracks, then became president of Creator/MGMRecords in 1969, in a contentious tenure that saw him very nakedly use the label as a vehicle for his political ambitions. But in the meantime he signed himself as an artist to the label, as the mogul behind the Mike Curb Congregation, a soft rock vocal chorus that had some minor hits. As for those political ambitions, he was mentored by UsefulNotes/RonaldReagan and was elected to a (once again) contentious single term as Lieutenant Governor of California in 1978, as a conservative Republican who frequently clashed with liberal Democratic Governor Jerry Brown. Meanwhile, he became a UsefulNotes/{{NASCAR}} owner, with Richard Petty driving for him at one point. By TheEighties he moved to Nashville and turned his focus to CountryMusic, with his Curb Records becoming a giant label in the genre, as well as owning the GospelMusic label Word Records.
