Interestingly, she managed to design aforementioned exploding bolt by studing the design of a gun she stole from a Crownsguard, making her Percy's indirect successor.

* GadgeteerGenius/VideoGames

%%* Lash from VideoGame/AdvanceWars, who combines this trope with being an EnfanteTerrible, much to the protagonists' dismay. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* Amanda Ripley of VideoGame/AlienIsolation at one point manages to repair a motion tracker unit using parts from a children's toy. She also crafts her own medkits, explosives, and electronic decoys from random gubbins and scrap metal parts she finds lying around the station.
* VideoGame/ArcanumOfSteamworksAndMagickObscura allows players to be Gadgeteer Geniuses, eventually building such things as steam-powered robots, staffs that shoot lightning, and a device that can revive the dead.
* Jan Jansen from VideoGame/BaldursGateII starts the game with a crossbow (including bolts), gloves, boots, and goggles of his own design, most of which give him a big bonus to his thieving skills. Originally, he would have invented more gadgets as the game went on, but this was sadly scrapped due to lack of development time.
* Phoebe from VideoGame/Battleborn is a genius inventor who has created a variety of fantastical tech, a number of which have been inspired by Eldrid tech that seem almost magical in nature. Among her inventions include phasegate tech, which allows her to teleport around the battlefield; her high tech and fashionable BattleBallgown, which aids her when fighting; and a cybernetic implant which allows her to telekinetically control four of her five rapiers. She's also a skilled roboticist, having been the brains behind her fellow Battleborn Kid Ultra's original design and purpose.
* One of VideoGame/BattleCryVideoGames classes -- called Gadgeteer, naturally enough -- has this as their job.
%%** Jin, on the Han Republic team, is a particular example. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* VideoGame/Borderlands2:
** The Mechromancer, Gaige, created a giant killer robot when she was still in high school, a design that was stolen by her rival and sold to the police force on her home planet. She also made herself a robotic arm, after sawing off her old one.
** It's easily overlooked given who he is, but Scooter qualifies. To quote Angel: "He may be missing a few chromosomes, but he's a savant when it comes to vehicles."
%%** Ellie, Scooter's sister, qualifies as well. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
%%* Momo from VideoGame/BreathOfFireIII. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* Gadgeteering exists as a power set in VideoGame/ChampionsOnline. One of the abilities is an "Experimental Ray" which has a chance for various effects, including turning the target into a teddy bear.
* Lucca in VideoGame/ChronoTrigger. She resides in a more-or-less modern kingdom with swords and medieval aesthetics, yet she is able to build a fully functioning teleporter, and when the party comes across a robot from the year 2300 she has little trouble fixing him up.
* Gary the Gadget Guy from VideoGame/ClubPenguin, in case the name doesn't make it obvious. He's responsible for most, if not all of the technology on the island, as well as all the PSA and EPF technology.
* Billy Blaze, alias Commander Keen, from id Software's VideoGame/CommanderKeen series. Commander Keen built a spaceship in his garden, made from old soup cans, a joystick, a car battery, a vacuum cleaner, and a bottle of Everclear.
* Max from VideoGame/DarkChronicle can make items out of pretty much anything he sees. He just needs to capture photos for inspiration.
* The Combo Weapon mechanic in VideoGame/DeadRising2 and 3 turns the protagonists into this, being able to MacGyver weapons out of whatever random crap they can find, including boxing glove claws, water gun flamethrowers, crossbows armed with exploding firework rockets, and even a fully functional lightsaber. Nick from 3 takes this even further by being able to build Combo Weapons on the spot without needing a workbench, and even build combo vehicles.
* VideoGame/DevilMayCry5 introduces Nico, a former gunsmith and the mechanic partner (and driver) of Nero responsible for the Devil Breaker system. Some of these arms are simple, like the Overture, which simply lets out electric blasts, and the Rawhide, which is a chain whip that can improve his Wire Snatch, but some can give Nero a RocketPunch that he can ride on or abilities like turning his pistol into a railgun or even slowing down time itself. Not that surprising for her as she uses pieces of defeated demons to make these for Nero. She also gives Dante .
* In VideoGame/DiceyDungeons, the Inventor can turn her equipment into gadgets which can be used for free each turn. The downside? She has to make a new gadget after each fight, which means you're constantly throwing away your items.
* Jennifer from VideoGame/DisgaeaHourOfDarkness created super-robot Thursday at the age of 5.
* Franchise/DonkeyKong: Funky Kong can make helicopters, watercraft, and guns out of BambooTechnology. All while being a SurferDude. In VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountry3DixieKongsDoubleTrouble, he'll use discarded items the Kongs pick up to create vehicles for them to travel around in, from a simple motorboat to a helicopter.
* Jeff Andonuts of VideoGame/EarthBound1994. He's capable of using laser guns, bombs, and the like, and can turn various broken irons, antennas, harmonicas, and the like into powerful weapons and battle items overnight. And did we mention that he's only thirteen years old?
* VideoGame/EagleEyeMysteries: WordOfGod says that Jennifer Eagle's character was created specifically for her to be this. In-game, she built the Eagle Eye Detective Agency's TRAVIS hand-held computer, and is rather picky about who gets to wield it (only Eagle Eye members have the privilege).
* VideoGame/Fallout:
** In VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas, The Courier can become one with the "Jury Rigging" perk. Repairing a chainsaw with a baseball bat? A PowerArmor helmet with a baseball cap? An antimateriel rifle with a BB gun? You can do it. As the perk's description says: "How does it work? Nobody knows... except you."
** The Sole Survivor in VideoGame/Fallout4 can strip everyday household items like alarm clocks, silverware, or board games for raw materials, which can then be used to make turrets, generators, computers, and modifications for weapons, armor, and even power armor. With the Automatron DLC, they can even use raw materials to build their own army of MechaMooks.
* Franchise/FinalFantasy:
** If a character in any Final Fantasy game is called Cid, two things are almost certain: 1) He's a Gadgeteer Genius and 2) his specialty will be Airships. For example:
*** Never seen, but Cid of the Lufaine in VideoGame/FinalFantasyI (at least all its remakes) was the inventor of the first airship.
*** The very first Cid appears in VideoGame/FinalFantasyII, who offers taxi service with his airship to the heroes.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyIII gives us Cid Haze, skilled enough to convert a CoolShip into a CoolAirship.
*** Cid Pollendina of VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV is the first playable Cid, who refuses to let little things like riding a nuke into an enemy vessel and an avalanche of millions of tons of rock and magma stop him from fixing up your airship. He's also a CoolOldGuy[=/=]BoisterousBruiser, which would become recurring Cid traits.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyVs Cid Previa builds airships, surprise surprise, and makes Crystal Power Enhancing... Thingies. His grandson, Mid, might represent this trope even more.
*** Cid Del Norte Marquez from VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI oddly enough doesn't work with Airships, but is no less of a Gadgeteer Genius, seeing as he invented Magitek and designs PoweredArmor, weapons, and even pseudo-genetic engineering. However, if you go out of your way to visit the crashed Blackjack after Terra and Locke leave Vector on the way to the Crescent Island, you can find Cid on board offering to help Setzer repair it, claiming that he has some prior experience with airships. Setzer politely turns him down.
*** Cid Highwind of VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII fame is probably the most well known on this list. He does the same in the Franchise/KingdomHearts games, except he doesn't fight. Or smoke (he gets a toothpick). Bowdlerise Or swear.
*** Cid Kramer of VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII put up part of the money used to rebuild the mass people mover that would eventually become Balamb Garden , which functions as the party's primary mode of transportation early in the story, and negotiates with a city of engineers to help actually create it to his specifications.
*** Cid Fabool IX of VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX. His proficiency at designing airships has led Lindblum to become Gaia's prominent air power. He also spends some time as a frog after an argument with his wife.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyXs Cid. He builds airships and he's loud and boisterous. He doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIs Cid is, fittingly enough, the most prominent engineer and inventor in Vana'diel.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIIs Cidolfus Demen Bunansa (Dr. Cid for short) is the first Cid to actually feature as a fully fledged villain, being the MadScientist responsible for most of the airships and weapons built for the Archadian Empire.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIVs Cid Nan Garlond is a defector from the evil Garlean Empire, who are incapable of using magic. His family was credited with making some of the first airships, and after coming to Eorzia, Cid brings a wealth of Garlean technology and creates a technological boom in the fairly medieval-flavored game world, creating a steampunk industrial revolution.
*** VideoGame/FinalFantasyXVs Cindy (Grandpa Cid retired). She's an attractive WrenchWench who works on the gang's car... which can equip a jet transformation mod.
** Edgar from VideoGame/FinalFantasyVI designed many of the machines used and exported by his kingdom, including the weapons he uses in battle, most infamously his giant chainsaw. His Job class is described as "Machinist" and, where everyone else is wielding swords, knives, or staffs, Edgar is the only one holding a huge gun.
** From VideoGame/FinalFantasyX, Cid's daughter Rikku counts as well, with her "Mix" Overdrive. Both of them are Al Bhed, which are exceptionally technologically advanced, the rest of the game world having been Luddites until shortly before the beginning of VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2.
** Shinra from VideoGame/FinalFantasyX2, who is another Al Bhed.
** The Machinist job in VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV uses a firearm in conjunction with a waist-mounted Magitek aetherotransformer which holds special ammunition, a wrench for Dismantle and Reassemble skills, a stash of grenades, and their foldable Attack Drones.
** Nono the airship mechanic from VideoGame/FinalFantasyTacticsAdvance and VideoGame/FinalFantasyXII. In VideoGame/FinalFantasyTacticsA2, Hurdy explains that Nono built his own airship called "Brilliante I".
* In VideoGame/GemsOfWar, Sparkgrinder is a gifted inventor, but not very good at controlling his inventions.
* The whole of the Engineer class from Franchise/GuildWars focuses on the use of inventive gadgets to fit multiple situations -- you quickly forget that you're limited to pistols, rifles, and shields as conventional weapons when you start using flamethrowers, turrets, grenades bombs, and wrenches as class-specific weapon kits.
%%** Many of the Asura race qualify, but especially Zojja from VideoGame/GuildWars2. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* The Vances from VideoGame/HalfLife2. Eli built a robotic dog for his daughter, Alyx. Over the years, she upgraded Dog into a super-strong, semi-sentient LightningBruiser.
%%* Andy from VideoGame/HeartOfDarkness is pretty much a clone of Billy Blaze above. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* Monty from VideoGame/Kindergarten is, in his own words, pretty handy with gadgets. He's able to modify a voice-controlled bomb into being remote controlled instead, and the wheelchair he's been confined to in VideoGame/Kindergarten2 has a laser cannon that he knows how to modify and most likely put in himself to begin with.
* Victoria Van Bathysphere from VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet 2. The later portion of her level is an EternalEngine and she made a robot army.
* Bernard from the VideoGame/ManiacMansion fangame VideoGame/ManiacMansionMania. He even invented a wheel that never stops rolling. And it can be used as a power source!
* Carl, your chief engineer in VideoGame/MechWarrior 4, has a reputation as one. The saying goes, "Give Carl a hundred tons of steel wool and he'll knit you an Atlas overnight."
* Franchise/MegaMan:
** VideoGame/MegaManLegends: Found some old broken drill or toy laser sword? Take it to Roll and she'll figure out how to make a new weapon out of it!
%%*** Tron Bonne. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
** Ciel from VideoGame/MegaManZero. And Roll seems like an amateur compared to her. Her accomplishments? Creating a perfect replica of X (Cain certainly couldn't, partially why mavericks exist), creating an energy system to solve the energy crisis that is not only effective but just beautiful (take a look at the reactor of the Guardian airship from ZX!), and making Biometals to match Master Albert's, but also adding the dual Mega-Merge feature. And she created Copy-X when she was nine years old.
%%* Ethan from VideoGame/MonsterTale. For bonus points, his theme tune is titled "gadgeteer". (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample; elaborate on how he's this in-game, not just in the soundtrack)
* in VideoGame/TheNamelessMod. He built an inanimate object with the powers of a board admin, something couldn't do, hence why he was .
* Conduits in Nexus Clash are supernaturally good at crafting, tinkering, and alchemy, to the point that (with the favor of the RandomNumberGod) it's entirely possible for a Conduit to craft something and find all of their materials still intact and unused on the workbench afterwards. People who think too hard about how impossible that is tend not to become Conduits.
* Junkrat from VideoGame/Overwatch. He may be a twitchy criminal with a penchant for explosions, but the guy managed to craft up some impressive weaponry. His grenade launcher, remote concussive mine, and springtrap are all his creations, along with his incredibly powerful Riptire. There's even a good chance that his artificial hand and leg are hand crafted.
* VideoGame/Paladins:
** Barik is a dwarf who is known by the title of Master Mechanic. He was one of the key engineers of the Magitek crystal-powered technology spreading through the Realm. Since then, his signature contributions have appeared in almost every field and vocation, from mechanized mining suits and rocket-powered wings to the crystalline weapons used by Magistrate and Resistance soldiers alike.
** Ruckus is a tiny goblin who fights in a MiniMecha that he repurposed from a mining mech. To increase his mech's power, he installed a crystal that was actually the mind-stone of a war golem. This mind-stone now uses the mech suit as his new body and is now partners with Ruckus under his new name, Bolt.
* Franchise/Pokemon:
** This trait seems to be the hat of most electric type specialists. With the exception of Elesa due to being a model, Lt. Surge, Watson, Volkner, and Clemont had a huge hand in setting up the complex design mechanisms for their gyms for one reason or another, and Sophocles constructs a device that's integral to his Island Trial.
** Bill from VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue, who invented the storage system (as well as his colleagues who helped him) in addition to a teleporter and TimeMachine. In Manga/PokemonAdventures, he also invented the Vs. Seeker.
* Many operators in VideoGame/RainbowSixSiege have engineering degrees and develop their own specialized equipment. Examples include explosive traps, signal jammers, sensors that detect people or electronics through walls, a drone with a mounted taser, and a breaching device that can punch a hole in a wall and launch several grenades through it.
* The Lombaxes from Franchise/RatchetAndClank are an entire race of Gadgeteer Geniuses. Ratchet himself was able to build a functioning space ship out of [[strike:A BOX OF SCRAPS!]] spare parts [[strike:IN A CAVE!]] on Veldin simply by following Gadgetron's voice prompts (not to mention the list of his wacky inventions that Clank rattled off), and the Lombax Secret is in fact . According to the Smuggler, Lombaxes can't leave any invention the way they found it and are forever tinkering.
* Lucas Baker from VideoGame/ResidentEvil7 is a truly evil example. He's able to make all different kinds of devices of torture for the sick games he plays with his victims, and he does it all under his family's nose.
* Li Kohran from VideoGame/SakuraWars, though the stuff she makes also has a tendency to randomly explode.
* Episode 2 of VideoGame/ScoobyDooFirstFrights has Mystery, Inc. encounter Numbers, a boy who invents gadgets to try and track down the culprit behind the toy army at the carnival.
* VideoGame/ScrapMechanic has every PlayerCharacter as a Gadgeteer Genius, capable of building marvellous machines out of nothing more than repurposed agricultural and logistical equipment. And they're going to need it, too.
* Grubb from VideoGame/SepterraCore. He built several robots of different types out of rubbish thrown down from Terra 1.
* VideoGame/SlyCooper:
** Bentley is a techno genius who even fitted his wheelchair with gadgets.
** His girlfriend Penelope is one as well, . She's more specifically focused on RC technology, having made for example a remote-controlled car with a turret mounted to it.
* VideoGame/Solatorobo has Merveille, who is credited with single-handedly raising the bar for Kurvasz MiniMecha design.
%%** The shopkeeper Suzette and Red's sister Chocolat are both Wrench Wenches. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog:
** In most Sonic media, Miles "Tails" Prower is the "gadget" guy.
** Dr. Eggman is capable of building entire robot armies and armadas of airships in what can't be more than a few weeks or months. His creations also appear to have well-nigh-unlimited power, fuel, and ammunition, as well as effectively healing technology on several examples.
* Marina from VideoGame/Splatoon2 is quite an enthusiast regarding machines, as her stage intro dialogue shows. She even creates a new Shifty Station stage for each Splatfest, using advanced Octarian technology.
* Area from Street Fighter EX2 Plus. While she's not given much of a story, it's mentioned that she's a greater inventor than her father.
* VideoGame/TheStretchers:
** Professor Doctor is not only the brains behind the De-Dizzler 3000, which cures the Dizzies of their condition, but also your source for ambulance upgrades.
** Captain Brains is a villainous example, having the technology behind the Dizzying pandemic in the first place.
* VideoGame/Subverse has two alien examples: Dallick, a diminutive stoner who nonetheless is a genius mechanic, especially for ships and advanced electronics, and Taron, a CatGirl "nikith" who aside from being an extremely skilled and acrobatic huntress also has an incredible love and talent for technology, able to invent a set of highly-advanced, custom-made burglar's tools that let her bypass any sort of known security system in the Prodigium galaxy.
* Franchise/SuperMarioBros:
** Just about any unusual tech in the Mushroom Kingdom comes from Professor E. Gadd's lab.
** Luigi becomes this as Mr. L in VideoGame/SuperPaperMario. He's an expert in Pun brobotics, to be sure.
** The sixth boss of VideoGame/PaperMario64, Cumulonemesis Huff N. Puff, built the Puff-Puff Machine, which was used to block out the sun in Flower Fields, as well as block the entrance to his cloudy lair.
** The VideoGame/Wario franchise:
*** Wario himself is surprisingly this, considering that in VideoGame/WarioMasterOfDisguise, he's able to create a device that allows him to go in and out of his television at will. He is also shown to create other devices in the VideoGame/WarioWare series as well.
*** Captain Syrup in VideoGame/WarioLandII. All the boss fights against her involve knocking her out of various hovering vehicles that sport various weapons, and one fight sees her remotely controlling a robotic Spear Man.
*** Little MadScientist girl Penny Crygor from VideoGame/WarioWare: Smooth Moves fits the trope to the letter. She's also totally adorable. Her story in Smooth Moves has her participate in an "Invent-Off" against her granddad Dr. Crygor, who is a Mad Scientist himself, and she wins. In Get It Together, she uses a water jetpack she made herself to move around.
%%** Shy Guys, who count as Gadgeteer Genius Mooks. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* The Engineer of VideoGame/TeamFortress2 is capable of creating NASA-level sentry turrets and teleportation devices using nothing more than his wrench and scrap metal collected from weapons dropped by the recently dead. There's also his laws-of-thermodynamics-be-damned dispenser, and the fact that he can make one from scratch using things such as a wooden baseball bat, an empty glass bottle, or a glass jar filled with urine. He's also the person who invented it. In the 60s. Then again, he does have 11 PhDs, so it's a little justified. He also built himself a robotic hand to replace his missing right hand. A hand that he cut off so he could replace it with a robotic hand.
* Franchise/TouhouProject:
** Nitori and the Kappa race in general. In a setting that has a medieval level of technology, Nitori has managed to create things like optical camo suits.
** Rika managed to build, arm, and pilot at least three separate tanks designs in a setting devoid of the industrial-grade machinery usually required to construct one.
* The Gadgeteer is the name of a class in VideoGame/TwilightHeroes -- they make many of the gadgets and devices that they use in combat.
%%* VideoGame/UnwrittenLegends has two classes based on gadgeteering, making the characters either this or at least the GeniusDitz. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample; what are these classes, and how are they distinct?)
* Puck of VideoGame/VanguardBandits is capable of repairing the strongest and oldest AMechByAnyOtherName ATACs in record time and can keep them in working order with the smallest of resources. [[spoiler:Taken to extreme levels, as he proves that he is fully capable of making an [=ATAC=] even stronger than the one legends portrayed as strongest using only scrap parts of a broken machine and a weaker power source.]] Takes a dark twist at the end of the "Ruin" path, when he improves 's efficiency.
* The Gadgeteer is an actual class in VideoGame/Wizardry 8, and it's just as powerful as you'd expect. Thankfully the rarity of components means that you can't really have more than one in the party, which keeps the game from becoming unbalanced. The only gadgeteer in-game if you don't make one in your party is a trynnie named Madras, who calls himself a gadgeteer by name.
* VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft:
** This trope is the defining characteristic of both Gnomes (Alliance) and Goblins (Horde). Gnomish tinkerers are famous for inventing bizarre (if not reality-warping) inventions including (but not limited to) helicopters, robot chickens, teleporters, mind control helmets, and even world shrinkers. Goblins on the other hand tend to love explosives of all kinds and are master bombmakers, rocketeers, and sappers; but also make lumber-harvesting robots, airships, and motorcycles. Although generally on opposite factions, Gnomes and Goblins have a friendly rivalry and often cooperate on complex engineering tasks and love to compete in racing.
** Players of any race can take the "Engineering" profession, which allows them to embody this trope, but Gnomes have a racial bonus to Engineering (Goblins have a racial bonus to Alchemy). The profession even allows the player to create MadScientist-style goggles and to make unique modifications to their armor, such as parachute cloaks and rocket boots. Although true to Gnomish and Goblin tradition, player-made inventions have a nasty tendency to backfire through explosions, accidental size modification, poultryfication, and teleporting you far above the ground. If it does not do any of this it is either a bomb, has a massive cooldown time, or is a robot or something that works once before breaking.

* GadgeteerGenius/WesternAnimation

* Jimmy Neutron from WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius is only a kid, but he has already surpassed any known scientist in capability. Each episode focuses on one of his inventions, although they usually fall prey to FlowersForAlgernonSyndrome.
* Alan of WesternAnimation/TheAmazingChanAndTheChanClan programmed the iconic Chan Van to be able to transform into just about anything. Even a dynamite truck.
* Buckle from WesternAnimation/AmericanDad, a former Disney Imagineer who became a mountain man. Just look at his haunted house:
-->Francine: [disturbed] I actually don't know how I got out. The front hallway spiraled into a black hole and the weather kept changing and I was a child again.
* WesternAnimation/Arcane:
** Despite all her bombs being duds , Jinx is still gifted enough with machinery that she built a working panic button in Vander's bar, which he uses to successfully alert Vi's crew to the incoming Enforcers out to arrest them. Her naming her weaponry like she did with her bombs in childhood implies that they were also made by herself. Silco even outright states that she's his best option for actually weaponizing the Piltie tech she stole, seeming to show that she's become this for his whole gang. She's shown to be able to reproduce Jayce's first Hextech experiment with reasonable accuracy (if not similar quality) and demonstrates an understanding of the underlying principles from reading his notes, which she managed to learn within the span of hours. This shows that her childish behavior belies her intelligence.
** Ekko works as a mechanic in Benzo's pawn shop and tinkers with what's inside, and has built an impressive system to spy on the inside of the store.
%%** Jayce. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
%%** Viktor.
* The Franchise/AvatarTheLastAirbender franchise:
** WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender:
*** The Mechanist is capable of creating a number of SchizoTech contraptions like tanks, hot air balloons, and even submarines.
*** Sokka, who is the Mechanist's protege, came up with the idea for the submarine in the first place.
** WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra:
*** Varrick may be an EccentricMillionaire, but he's also a very capable scientist and engineer, and quite capable of building what he needs on the fly.
*** Asami Sato didn't just inherit her father's industrial company, she also inherited his engineering genius. She can build a sand glider out of ship scraps, come up with innovative infrastructure ideas to incorporate spirit wilds into the city, and design biomimetic flying mech suits, among other things.
* ComicBook/TheFalcon is characterized in this manner in WesternAnimation/AvengersAssemble, even though that's not how he's traditionally depicted in the comics. Compared to Stark, Falcon's inventions tend to be smaller, but fulfill more specific functions. He basically becomes the team's Franchise/Batman.
* Arthur in WesternAnimation/Babar designs a bicycle-impulsed flying machine, two robots, and a submarine, among other things.
* Rattrap in WesternAnimation/BeastMachines was stripped of all weapons upon being reformatted, so compensated by developing all sorts of handy devices to stop the Vehicons.
* The later WesternAnimation/BettyBoop cartoons often feature Grampy, who creates all kinds of creative gadgets and machines from discarded junk.
* Mouse from WesternAnimation/BoyGirlDogCatMouseCheese builds robots and gadgets which serve various functions.
* Grumpy from WesternAnimation/CareBearsAdventuresInCareALot straddles the line between this and BunglingInventor. He apparently built an entire theme park at one point, not to mention a cloning device, among many others, but his inventions sometimes turn on him (i.e. the clone clones itself and both clones kick him out for not being "Grumpy" enough) or fail because of (unwanted) help from Oopsy.
* In addition to commentary, Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin provides this service in the original run of WesternAnimation/CelebrityDeathmatch. His technological expertise yielded a fully-functional cloning machine (used to combine DNA from dead celebrites into fighting mutants) and a rickety time machine (used to bring to life such matches as The Three Tenors vs. The Three Stooges).
* Gadget Hackwrench from WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers, who builds the team's vehicles and equipment. The stuff she makes is particularly impressive because all she usually has to work with is discarded junk from the humans. When Gadget returns as BigGood of the titular HeroesRUs team in Literature/TheMouseWatch, she's no longer restricted to BambooTechnology. She now invents sci-fi tech such as "Smart Goggles" that act as Everything Sensors and create holographic disguises, a CoolBike that is assembled by Nanomachines at the push of a button, and a worldwide subway system that can go from UsefulNotes/LosAngeles to UsefulNotes/NewYorkCity in ten minutes.
* Philly Phil from WesternAnimation/ClassOf3000 is the class's go-to guy when they need some kind of gadget. They do have a tendency to malfunction, though.
* Jérémie from WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko. His gadgeteering occurs more in the virtual world, however, as he is the primary programmer and the one who is most adept at using the Supercomputer. However, it is a confirmed fact that he can build robots, participating in a robot competition in Season 1. He also creates an EMP bomb in the episode "Ultimatum", which efficiently stuns a [=XANAfied=] person.
* WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor:
** They make holographic projectors out of steam engines and lasers out of a flashlight, a piece of wood, and a bottle!
** If you're looking for a person example, Numbuh 2 would be the man. Once you get past his Pun punny way of life, he is one of the KND's best of these, if not arguably the best. In fact, he's considered so good that when plenty of other scientist kids are kidnapped by the supposed "Splinter Cell", special interest is put into protecting him by putting him into hiding. As Numbuh One puts it, if they get their hands on Numbuh 2, they'll be able to build almost anything.
* Jack and Maddie Fenton in WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom seem to fit this trope, with their inventions being proven inoperable by a normal person, or even The Guys In White, due to their quirks because of their "tin cans and an old transistor radio" method of construction.
* WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory has a gadgeteer for its titular main character, who creates a lot of science inventions throughout the series.
%%* Franchise/DisneyFairies: Tinkerbell is one of these in her origin story movie. This actually comes from the original J. M. Barrie's Literature/PeterPan, in which she mends pots and kettles, at least. The name really does come from her being a tinkerer. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample; how does it apply to the movie?)
* Edd from WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy. He makes an industrial-grade excavator out of junk he found around his neighborhood.
* AJ from WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents has a secret lab in his bedroom which he uses to create clones, inventions, and conduct scientific research.
* The title character of WesternAnimation/FlavioTheGoat wishes to be the next Creator/LeonardoDaVinci. He makes a lot of inventions in his spare time.
%%* William from WesternAnimation/Gawayn.
* Kin Kujira from WesternAnimation/Grojband is very nifty with gizmos and gadgets, creating machinery ranging from robots to time machines.
* The Old Gummies in WesternAnimation/GummiBears made such advanced technology (including a complex underground road system and interoceanic communication devices in the Middle Ages) that they became a target for humans due to it.
* Froggo from WesternAnimation/Histeria is always asking for things because, as he puts it, "You've got your inventions, and I've got mine."
* Kai from WesternAnimation/TheHollow is able to get himself and his team out of a desert by building an airplane using the Four Horsemen's junkyard.
* WesternAnimation/InspectorGadget: Professor Von Slickstein, who even incorporated gadgets into the title character's body.
%%** The Inspector's niece and dog, Penny and Brain, are the more competent gadgeteers, though they are just as likely to become the DamselInDistress (both of them are subject) or WronglyAccused (Brain, while simultaneously being the Damsel sometimes) while Gadget plays the SpannerInTheWorks. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample; DamselAndDistress and WronglyAccused likeliness doesn't explain why they actually fit the trope.)
* WesternAnimation/Jingaroo has Toot and Snoot Groote, a pair of marspial moles who are particularly adept at mechanical engineering.
* Ernest the Kiwi from WesternAnimation/TheJungleBunch is capable of building massive machines. Though these machines tend to become a danger to the jungle that The Jungle Bunch have to deal with.
* WesternAnimation/Kaeloo:
** Mr. Cat builds random gadgets when necessary, such as a cloning machine, and is also able to fix things (including a damaged time machine).
** Olaf has his own robot slave, and over the course of the show builds and and .
* WesternAnimation/KimPossible:
** Wade is able to build more or less anything that the plot demands, and he's just 10 years old.
** The Tweebs, who are the same age as Wade, are able to really pimp Kim's car.
** On the villainous side, Motor Ed is a mechanical genius. Seriously!
** In his "bad boy" mode, Ron Stoppable is this. It's even latent in his "good" mode, when he builds a weapon (at Drakken's insistence) IN A LAIR, from A BOX OF SCRAPS!
* The Franchise/LooneyTunes franchise: In WesternAnimation/LoonaticsUnleashed, Tech E. Coyote manages to cobble together a model of the city in his spare time. This model comes complete with trains that actually run on time. When not in his spare time, he makes the heroes' arsenal.
%%** WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes Wile E. Coyote tinkers on occasion, though mostly he uses AcmeProducts. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample; specify one of these occasions?)
%%** Same with Calamity Coyote from WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures.
* In the Creator/RubySpears WesternAnimation/RubySpears show, Roll modifies her Utility Arm herself. This includes such appliances as a vacuum, a blender, a circular saw, and modifying a baking sensor to detect earthquakes.
* Coop from WesternAnimation/MegasXLR tuned up a HumongousMecha until it worked better than the original, even despite all the parts he keeps breaking on account of not being all that bright besides.
* Tanya from WesternAnimation/MightyDucksTheAnimatedSeries is introduced as, "She was so smart, she actually knew how to program a timer on a VCR!" As well as building the team's machines and blowing up those of the enemy, she uses a wrist-mounted chainsaw in battle. She also has a stutter due to her brain going so fast (and trying to explain things in terms the others can understand).
* WesternAnimation/MollyOfDenali: Walter has a gift for working with machines.
* WesternAnimation/MoonGirlAndDevilDinosaur2023: Lunella has several inventions under her belt: such as the temporal vortex generator that brought Devil to the Big Apple, and has incorporated several into her Moon Girl costume; such as a jet pack made from fans, a pair of shoes that double as rollerskates equipped with retractable metal claws to kick in windows, a squirt gun that blasts liquid that traps foes in large blue bubbles, and her signature red boxing glove launchers.
* WesternAnimation/Motorcity:
** Tennie, who even built the home she and her father live in.
** Jacob is this as well, having invented the Utility Bots.
** Dutch is a mechanic and engineer, usually repairing the Burners' cars, and building robots like R.O.T.H.
* WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot: Ms. Wakeman. She built the protagonist herself.
* WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic:
** Pinkie Pie, despite possibly being completely insane, has built a DaVinci-ish flying machine, a "Welcoming Machine", and her signature party cannon... which she (except for one occasion) successfully uses to literally decorate for parties.
** The Flim Flam Brothers have the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 from the episode of the same name, which looks years more advanced than anything else that's ever popped up in Equestria.
* Dinko from WesternAnimation/PetAlien comes from a species of aliens known for their technical knowhow. He's made countless inventions out of the junk lying around Tommy's lighthouse.
* WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb:
** Phineas and Ferb. Ferb does most of the engineering for their projects, but Phineas is quite handy with tools as well.
** Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. Despite being a normally HarmlessVillain, he is capable of building -inators that are as impressive as the inventions of the title characters.
** The Fireside Girls, led by Isabella. They're usually just helping the boys out, which is impressive in itself, but they can build a time machine.
* The Brain in WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain. This is arguably his real strength. His many devices include a functional MobileSuitHuman and a mechanical arm that turns him into a star basketball player. He's also modified others' inventions to turn a ShrinkRay into a growth ray and make a tornado-proof suit much more... well, tornado-proof.
* Strudel from The Hub's Pound Puppies tends to make her inventions from discarded items and the occasional more sophisticated electronics she comes across.
* Professor Utonium from Franchise/ThePowerpuffGirls creates things like a supersuit or a giant robot or a car that can turn into a giant robot.
* Dr. Skelley, Sydney's mom from WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo. She knows all about robotics, engineering, and technology. She also holds a strong belief that robots are the future, and teaches the kids about the types of jobs robots have, like helping out at a grocery store, rescuing trapped animals during a flood, collecting comet dust samples, and exploring volcanoes on Mars. Now that is awesome.
* Gretchen Grundler from WesternAnimation/Recess. Being the SmartGirl of the group, she's easily able to construct gadgets and devices if the need for them arises.
-->Gretchen: Oh, you could make lots of devices out of the spare parts out of your family's garage. Why, I once fashioned a particle accelerator out of a broken hair dryer and a four slice toaster oven.
* The Geek from WesternAnimation/SamAndMaxFreelancePolice fits the original mold perfectly, as a young genius girl who built a gigantic robot Max in her underground lair.
* In WesternAnimation/TheSecretWorldOfSantaClaus, Jordi always comes up with new toys and gadgets for Santa. They often malfunction, but they are also often a great help.
* Handy in WesternAnimation/TheSmurfs1981 is capable of making all sorts of advanced machinery like harvesting machines, telephone lines, a fire pump, and even a robot in the Middle Ages.
* WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan has two:
** Adrian Toomes is the inventor of the Magnetic Air Transport System, a suit of flight-capable PoweredArmor that he uses as the Supervillain Vulture to antagonize Norman Osborn for stealing his designs.
** Chameleon's henchman Mason (aka, the Tinkerer) is responsible for developing all the ShoePhone technology the Chameleon needs for his work as a MasterOfDisguise.
* In WesternAnimation/SpicyCity, M&G technician Otaku uses his technological skills to extract the consciousness of prostitutes, and program them into being complacent as virtual sex programs.
* Sandy Cheeks from WesternAnimation/SpongeBobSquarePants is an accomplished inventor, especially in the later seasons.
* Crowbar from WesternAnimation/StarComTheUSSpaceForce is a whiz with machines, and some episodes have him cobble together devices to solve the problem of the week, such as jury-rigging a force field generator to protect [=StarCom=]'s vehicles from the effects of an EMP.
* WesternAnimation/StarTrekLowerDecks, being part of Franchise/StarTrek, has plenty of gadgeteer geniuses and Science Heroes, including main characters D'Vana Tendi and engineering officer Sam Rutherford.
* WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars: In "Mystery of a Thousand Moons", Anakin and Obi-Wan meet a teenager named Jaybo Hood, who has reprogrammed a lot of abandoned battle droids to serve him.
* Gear from WesternAnimation/StaticShock, who initially thinks that his power is rather lame: "How am I supposed to fight supervillains, think them into submission? All I can be is your Mega-Mechanic." Which turns out to be a great way to fight supervillains.
* WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse:
** Pearl at one point builds a nearly fully functional spaceship out of a bunch of junk Greg has lying in storage. Later on, she manages to repair an escape pod five thousand years more advanced than anything she's worked with before, and figures out how to use it to track Warp Pad usage.
** Peridot is also a major one, considering her role in Gem society is to be a technician/engineer.
%%* Ginger Snap from WesternAnimation/StrawberryShortcake. (Administrivia/ZeroContextExample)
* Kani on WesternAnimation/SushiPack fits the bill, although others have tried to steal credit for her inventions on occasion.
* Razor from WesternAnimation/SWATKats is the primary force behind the eponymous duo's technology (though T-Bone occasionally demonstrates that he's no slouch at least when it comes to engines), and thus they make military salvage into a working supersonic jet that's armed to the teeth with all kinds of unique missiles. His knowledge has limits, however, as demonstrated in the last episode, when he despairs over fixing a broken radar jammer.
* Donatello from Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles. Considering that he's self taught, living in a sewer, and working mostly with scavanged junk, his inventing abilities are downright super-reptilian.
* Wheeljack, from Franchise/Transformers. He created the Aerialbots and the Dinobots, and while some of his inventions don't quite work out in the explode-y sense, his fuel pump is in the right place. He also invents lots of useful things, like the Immobilizer, which works great until it blows up, and the Negavator, which works great until it blows up, and a bomb, which is supposed to blow up, so it definitely works great.
* WesternAnimation/Wakfus Nox, a brilliant (if unsuccessful) clockmaker, had a bit of this going on before he went utterly crazy. And then he went on to prove just how scary an evil Gadgeteer Genius could be.
* WesternAnimation/WhatsNewScoobyDoo:
** Velma Dinkley produces a number of remarkably sophisticated pieces of equipment in her spare time.
** Fred makes a few minor modifications to the Mystery Machine, such as equipping it to transform into a submarine at the press of a button.
* WesternAnimation/WildKratts has Aviva Corcovado, TheSmartGirl who is responsible for the creations of the Creature Power Suits, as well as many other useful creature-inspired inventions. Her arch-rival, Zach Varmitech, is a downplayed variant, since his Zachbots are used more for yies.
* Tobey from WesternAnimation/WordGirl is a 10-year-old kid who, in his spare time, builds giant robots to do his bidding.
* WesternAnimation/WowWowWubbzy had the pink Tomboy Widget, who tackles problems she (or at least one of her three friends) faces by building machines. They often backfire, but once in a while they actually work.

* VideoGame/DevilMayCry5 introduces Nico, a former gunsmith and the mechanic partner (and driver) of Nero responsible for the Devil Breaker system. Not that surprising for her as she uses pieces of defeated demons to make these for Nero.
