* [[Characters/YuGiOhSetoKaiba Seto Kaiba]] is ''the'' tech innovator in the [[Anime/YuGiOh Yu-Gi-Oh!]] Verse and is on par with Pegasus in the sheer influence he has on the game. His motivations for creating new tech vary from wanting a good business deal, countering the dark magic of Atem/Pegasus/Diva, to simply wanting to make the game he loves better. Regardless, he does not seem to worry about the consequences of just about anything, which does not work out well in ''GX'', where he shoots trading cards into space in order to teach alien lifeforms how to duel... which then attracts [[EldritchAbomination cosmic horrors]].

** Also in ''New Vegas'' we have the positive example Dr. Henry. He's not motivated by money, fame, or even a desire to help people ([[spoiler:seeing as how he also helped [[ANaziByAnyOtherName the Enclave]] develop their virus which would wipe out all mutants, ghouls, and "impure" humans, and tried to hide their RobotDog research from [[TheFederation the NCR]]]]). Nonetheless, Arcade feels a sense of admiration for how Henry has done so much without seeking personal gain for himself.
** Many of [[BigBad the Institute]]'s experiments in ''VideoGame/Fallout4'' show shades of this. Such as creating [[spoiler: synth gorillas]] and Super Mutants, [[StupidEvil unleashing the latter upon the surface without a care in the world]] once they stopped providing useful data.

** Doctor Stein has the battle cry of "I am going to dissect you!" before he starts to fight. It's not just based for his fights alone, though he has said it to Crona and Medusa, and in the anime, Marie, he has also dissected his best friend repeatedly for years without him noticing, and wants to dissect the boss's son. He also dissected an endangered bird in his homeroom class. For his own amusement. All of this seems to have even caused a RunningGag amongst the fans. "For Science!" for Stein isn't a motivation so much as it is a cover. Flashbacks to his childhood reveal that he's actually more of a latent serial killer who has channeled his [[ScienceRelatedMemeticDisorder compulsion to dissect things]] towards positive ends.
