* Red Hot Chili Peppers played Fortune Faded live in August 2001, as part of a batch of new songs. A studio version of it didn't appear until 2003, when it became the new single for their Greatest Hits compilation.
** The By The Way sessions demo has since leaked out. The band did not release the song at the time because they felt the chorus melody resembled one by another band. They rewrote the chorus for the Greatest Hits version.

* In 1963, Vee-Jay released Music/TheBeatles' first album to U.S. consumers, ''Please Please Me'' as ''Introducing The Beatles.'' A little over a year later, Capitol records (the group's official U.S. label through EMI) would release many of the tracks on the album ''The Early Beatles.'' "I Saw Her Standing There" was pressed on ''Meet The Beatles'' while "Misery" and "There's A Place" didn't see U.S. release through Capitol until 1980 on ''Rarities.''

* ''TheVentureBrothers'' uses this form of the trope regularly. Many easily-missed background characters gain major plot relevance down the line. Sometimes it's only a few episodes later (such as the Investors appearing in the background of an episode before their official introduction,) while other times it's many ''seasons'' later (such as August St. Cloud, who was a frequent background character dating all the way back to season 1, but wasn't officially introduced until season 5.)

** In the manga, we first saw the Red Ribbon Army when Goku grabbed the three-star Dragon Ball out from under the noses of Colonel Silver's men, then got his Nimbus blown up. In the anime, before this happened, we saw Colonel Silver and his men getting the six-star ball, fighting both Ox King and Pilaf in the process, then them and Goku trying to get the three-star ball started earlier before it ended the same way.\\
If this counts as an example [[ZigZaggedTrope is sort of hard to qualify]]: we saw the Red Ribbon Army before the scene that introduced them in the manga, but everything in the anime before said scene and after the events immediately proceeding it in the manga was {{filler}}. So you could also say they appear ''as'' soon, but in a different way. Given the extended length of these ventures, it might even go past cameo to that point one could consider Colonel Silver an AscendedExtra.
