* VisualKei. Impossible hair colors are the norm for most bands in the scene.
** Two members of the band Music/XJapan are particularly infamous for this. Most notably is late guitarist {{Music/hide|toMatsumoto}}, whose hair was always somewhere on the red-pink color spectrum (whether a streak of pink in blonde, variant red colors, or in his last years, short and bright pink). Drummer/pianist/bandleader Music/{{Yoshiki|Hayashi}} started out with blond hair, occasionally went brown, and now tends to go for a deep chestnut reddish brown -- but never, ever black (the only time it has even been close to that in his adult life has been at/immediately after hide's funeral).
** Every single member of Music/DirEnGrey has dyed their hair in different colors, but vocalist Music/{{Kyo}} is the worst offender among them. He has been known to cycle between black and bleached blonde hair, but has also went for a red/black two-tone, brown, red and bright orange. He even wore ''bright pink'' hair during the band's early days.
** Music/DynamiteTommy, record producer and pioneer of visual kei, got his moniker from the flaming red hair he wore during his career as a musician. He later opted for a more-natural hair color in response to the overwhelming number of [[FollowTheLeader copycat]] acts that appeared after the second-wave visual kei bands became popular.

* Hayley Williams of Music/{{Paramore}} has red hair that she usually dyes varying shades, from blond to orange to bright red, all the way down to crimson (as seen in the "Decode" video). Cool tones also make frequent appearances, such as blue, green and silvery-white. One of the ''VideoGame/RockBand 2''[='=]s loading screens for Paramore songs revealed that Hayley herself has forgotten what was the natural color of her hair from dyeing it so much, though it was eventually revealed that her natural hair is blonde. She returned back to being a blonde in 2017. She became so known for this trope that she went on to co-found a hair dye company, [[https://gooddyeyoung.com/ Good Dye Young]], with her hair stylist Brian O'Connor.
* Music/LanaDelRey is naturally a blonde, and was blonde during her early years as Lana Del Ray. With the debut of ''Born to Die'', she had strawberry blonde hair, before gradually dyeing it darker over time. Since 2014 it's either been black or a very dark shade of brown, though as of 2020, she's let her hair go back to its original blonde shade.

* [[Music/MyChemicalRomance Gerard Way]]'s (often never washed) black hair, except for his period of [[DyeingForYourArt dyeing for his art]] by going platinum blond in order to "method act" as [[DiseaseBleach The Patient]] for ''The Black Parade''. As of [[NewSoundAlbum album number four]], he's a bright redhead. He went orangey blonde after the band disbanded but has since reverted back to being a brunet, which occured just prior to the reformation of his band.

* Music/{{Radiohead}} lead singer Thom Yorke's hair color and style has changed so often that some fans use his hair to date photos. He bleached it in the early days of Radiohead, but stopped during the ''OK Computer'' era. He's naturally a dark ginger.

* [[Music/NineInchNails Trent Reznor]] has been dyeing his hair black for the length of his musical career (though there was a very brief period before ''With_Teeth'' came out that he did not): It's naturally a reddish brown.
* Lux Interior of seminal punkabilly band Music/TheCramps was naturally blond, but dyed his hair black for almost all of his adult life.
* Music/{{Rihanna}} is naturally brown-haired, yet she often has her hair dyed black or red. {{Downplayed}}, as she is her natural color on the ''Talk That Talk'' album cover, and other places.

* The band Japan all dyed their hair to start with, with singer Music/DavidSylvian going for a blond look, which he continued to use for the rest of their career and some of his solo career. He did it so well that many didn't know he dyed his hair. He has since reverted to his natural brownish-red colour, though his hair appears to have thinned from years of dyeing it. Pictures of him with natural hair colour from the early Japan days appear in their late bassist Mick Karn's book ''Japan & Self Existence''.
* Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, the former members of Music/{{Tatu}}, are usually recognized for having [[HairContrastDuo red hair and black hair]], respectively. Lena's natural hair color is strawberry blonde, while Yulia is a natural blonde.
* Both Music/BlueStahli and Music/{{Celldweller}} have become known for their bright red hair.
* Josh Ramsay of Music/MarianasTrench is known for having a blue fringe.
* Music/BebeRexha is a natural brunette, but has since bleached her hair blonde. Compare the brunette haired Rexha in the video for "Me, Myself and I" with Music/GEazy to the blonde haired Rexha in the video for "No Broken Hearts" with Music/NickiMinaj.
* Sonia Tavares of The Gift is a natural brunette, but dyed her hair black during the breakthrough period of the band. During the mid 2010s, she dyed it red but has since reverted back to black.
* Music/{{Shakira}} is a natural brunette, though her hair was shown to be a darker shade earlier in her career (specifically shown in her first ''four'' Spanish-language albums). It wasn't until her English-debut ''Laundry Service'' in 2001, where she sported her blonde hair, which she has nowadays.
* Longtime Christian music recording artist (and one-time ''Series/{{Roundhouse}}'' cast member) Crystal Lewis. Her appearance in the 1985 musical "Hi-Tops" shows her hair appearing to be a dirty blonde; then switched to a redhead when she began recording (and during her ''"Series/{{Roundhouse}}"'' tenure). She switched to brunette for the album that proved to be her breakout hit, 1996's "Beauty for Ashes" before going blonde for her next few albums immediately following (and after a couple of albums where she went back to brunette, her most recent projects have had her go back to being a blonde.

* Music/OzzyOsbourne is best known for his dark brown hair with auburn highlights, but during The80s, he went for a dirty blond mane.
** His wife Sharon is a natural brunette, but is more associated as a redhead (though she went for a strawberry blonde look in late 2005-06) and in 2020, stopped dyeing her hair for a more natural grey look.
** His daughter Kelly is a natural brunette, but usually dyes her hair in either pink, blonde, black, silver or most recently, purple.
* Music/HollywoodUndead’s Danny Murillo is a natural brunette, but has dyed his hair blonde twice. Since 2017, he has kept it that way. * Music/DuaLipa, who is a natural brunette, has since dyed her hair to a two-toned blonde-brown mix.

* Music/{{Grimes}}, who has had so many different hair colors and styles over the years that you could see two different pictures of her and not be able to tell that it's the same person. Her natural hair color is a mousy brown, and she admits that she dyes it frequently because she finds her natural color "boring."
* Music/DepecheMode’s Martin Gore is known for having his hair bleached some shade of blond over the years, there’s only been a handful of occasions where he’s been seen sporting his naturally medium-brown hair colour.
* Music/AliceGlass formerly of Music/CrystalCastles has sported a number of hair colors over the years, her most common being jet black, fitting with her PerkyGoth personality. Her natural color is a light brown/dirty blonde.

* Music/MandyMoore is a natural blonde, as seen on her first 3 albums and her appearance in ''Film/ThePrincessDiaries'', but has favored being a dark brunette since 2002.
* Deborah Harry, lead singer of the group Music/{{Blondie|Band}}, and was well known for her blond hair, hence the name of the group. When she decided to do some project on her own, she dyed her hair red either out of respect for not connecting it to the band (as she said) or because of some contractual obligation (may have been more likely). But she didn't dye her hair ''red'' the way normally expected, it was ''Fire Engine Red'', as in ''red paint''! It's been a more natural red shortly after Blondie broke up, as well as auburn for her role in ''Film/{{Videodrome}}''.
* Music/{{Madonna}} - she's naturally brunette, and sometimes lets her hair grow out naturally when she's tired of dyeing it.
* Music/LadyGaga, like Madonna, is also a natural brunette. Her hair is ''usually'' a random shade of blonde. She said the dye started because people confused her for Music/AmyWinehouse. She briefly went back to her natural brunette color in late 2014 however and dyed her hair pink in 2020 for her album ''Chromatica''.
* Music/AshleeSimpson dyed her hair from its natural blonde to a dark brunette, in order to distance herself from [[Music/JessicaSimpson her sister's]] image. She eventually let it return to blonde, and has since dyed a deep red.

* Richard Kruspe of Music/{{Rammstein}} is a natural brunet, but now keeps dyeing it black. Flake Lorenz of the same band has been well known for dyeing his hair a variety of colors over the years, but has gone back to his natural brown.

* Music/MileyCyrus, in summer 2012 [[http://www.eonline.com/news/330342/miley-cyrus-goes-blond-mdash-do-you-like?cmpid=sn-000000-twitterfeed-365-Miley_Cyrus&dlvrit=283888 dyed her hair blonde]]. She got comments from Website/{{Twitter}} suggesting how she looks similar to her Series/HannahMontana role without needing a wig. Cyrus even briefly in 2013 dyed her ''eyebrows'' [[https://twitter.com/MileyCyrus/status/403418442201436160/photo/1 blonde]] to match her hair.

* Irish singer Linda Martin, a natural blonde, dyed her hair red when she represented her country in the Series/EurovisionSongContest. She has since become a brunette.
* Music/{{Eminem}}'s first single, "Just Don't Give a Fuck", didn't get played on MTV because Em's image as Slim Shady - a fleshy, sneering, dark-haired trailer-park dudebro, shot in black and white so it was harder to determine his skin color - wasn't working. After [[WhatDidIDoLastNight spontaneously bleaching his hair while high on ecstasy]] (which he would have got rid of if not for Dre persuading him to keep it), he changed to a new image based on being a [[FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon smiling, adorable all-American boy with a heart of pure evil]], which was ''extraordinarily'' successful and created a fad for young men cropping and bleaching their hair. Eminem's blondness became his signature, referenced repeatedly throughout his work - "''who would have thought, standing in this mirror, bleachin' my hair/ with some peroxide, reachin' for a tshirt to wear/ that I would catapult to the forefront of rap like this?''" - until he returned to his natural color for ''Film/EightMile'', by which time seeing him with dark hair was enough of a shock that it's made into a significant moment at the end of the movie. He maintained the blond hair up until after his drug overdose in 2008, going back to his natural color to signal a break with his addiction, as well as generally increased maturity - in interviews in the early 2010s, he expressed confusion he maintained the bleached look for as long as he did, saying that being 35 and having bleached hair seemed [[AgeInappropriateDress pathetic]]. This also let him, in his comeback album ''Relapse'', experiment with a different incarnation of Slim Shady with a different personality ([[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent and accent]]) to the blond one. He went blond again in 2013 for ''The Marshall Mathers LP 2'' as RevisitingTheRoots, kept it throughout 2016, then reverted again to his natural color for an [[AudienceAlienatingEra attempt at a serious, conscious pop album]] in 2017. (And grew a beard.)
* Music/PearlJam's members are inconsistent on short and long hair. [[http://www.lastfm.com.br/music/Mike+McCready/+images Mike McCready]] goes a step further changing the color as well.

* Music/MelanieMartinez is known for having half of hair dyed, usually pink.
* Music/NickiMinaj naturally has dark hair however she's most seen with colors like purple, though she uses her natural color a lot too.

* Red-haired Shirley Manson of Music/{{Garbage}} cut her hair and bleached it blonde, sporting a faux hawk hairstyle during the ''Beautiful Garbage'' era, before reverting back to being a redhead. She has recently cut her hair to a shoulder length and dyed it [[RoseHairedSweetie pink]] during the ''Strange Little Birds'' era.

* Music/HayleyKiyoko is a natural brunette but dyed her hair light brown with blonde highlights in the early 2010s (most notably seen in ''Series/WizardsOfWaverlyPlace'' and ''Film/LemonadeMouth'') before bleaching it blonde, which she has since then.
* Music/NickCave has been dyeing his hair since he was sixteen. He has promised to keep it up until he dies.

* Music/BillieEilish is a natural brunette but has dyed her hair a dark green-black mix. In her early years, she dyed it to a silver-white mix.

* Creator/EvaGreen is actually a natural blonde but has favoured her hair black since she was fourteen.
* Creator/KristenStewart was born strawberry blonde but is best known with dark brown hair.
* Creator/NoelFielding actually has brown hair (as seen in the first series of ''Series/TheMightyBoosh'' and other early works), but he's known much better for having black hair, which is part of his image as a PerkyGoth.
* Creator/BrigitteBardot is known for being a blonde, but is a natural brunette.
* Creator/KeiraKnightley is naturally a chestnut brown but has been better known for either blonde or dark brown hair.
* Creator/VincentDOnofrio shaves his head whenever he's playing Wilson Fisk in ''Series/Daredevil2015''.
* Creator/JennaColeman is naturally brown-haired, but in an interview with her ''Series/DoctorWho'' co-star Creator/MattSmith she confessed that she often dyes her hair a different shade of brown. In 2018, she revealed on Instagram that she had bleached or dyed her hair blonde for her role in the miniseries ''Series/TheCry'', the first time she has drastically changed her hair colour for a TV or film role.
* Creator/DeborahKerr was a natural redhead, just much darker. An aunt of hers persuaded her to lighten it in order to make herself more noticeable. [[spoiler: It worked!]]
* Comedian Herman José is a natural brunet, but from late 2002 to early 2010, he bleached his hair to dirty blond.
* Creator/KateHudson is known as a blonde just like [[Creator/GoldieHawn her mother]], but revealed herself to be a natural brunette after shaving her hair into a buzzcut for her role as Kazu in ''Film/Music2021''.
* Creator/KatherineMcNamara is a brunette, but she's almost never seen with that color since she transitioned to adult roles. She mainly gravitates between a redhead and a blonde.
* Creator/RichardMadden has prematurely-graying hair and a white streak, which he dyes dark brown for his roles, but when he was cast in ''Film/{{Eternals}}'', he was encouraged to keep his silver streaks since it was fitting for his character.
* Creator/JimmyStewart went bald fairly early and wore wigs while acting and making appearances. This helped him enjoy being out and about with his family, as he'd leave the wig at home and no one would recognize or bother him.

* Creator/ReeseWitherspoon is known for playing blonde characters, but she's actually a brunette.
* Creator/BilliePiper naturally brunette but is better known as a blonde.
* Creator/JeanHarlow dyed her hair platinum blonde, though she denied it, and was in fact naturally very fair — just not as fair as she appeared onscreen. Eventually, her hair actually had to be cropped short due to peroxide damage, meaning in some films she's actually wearing a wig. Some stories say that bleached her pubic hair as well to maintain the illusion, but this is likely false.
* Creator/MarilynMonroe, who was naturally a brunette.
* Creator/LucilleBall was born with brown hair but most of her appearances have her as a redhead. This was lampshaded in one episode of ''Series/ILoveLucy'' when Ricky cut her allowance and she couldn't afford both snacks and her trip to the beauty shop, complaining "I can either be a thin redhead or a fat brunette." When she was accused of being a Communist during the Red Scare (she was registered with the Communist Party, but it's widely believed that was only to please her grandfather, who ''was'' a Communist and had raised her), Desi Arnez publically stated, "The only thing red about her is her hair, and that's not even real!" Conversely, Vivian Vance ([[Series/ILoveLucy "Ethel"]]) was a natural redhead.
** Further, in one of her earliest appearances on film (with Film/TheThreeStooges) she was a blonde!
* Creator/OliviaWilde is a natural blonde, but typically has her hair dyed brown.

* Vic Reeves of the Reeves and Mortimer comedy duo. Original color: Blond. Once had to ''stop'' dyeing his hair to convince people that his new son was his own.
* Creator/WinonaRyder is naturally blonde (the colour in ''Film/EdwardScissorhands'' is her natural one) but dyed her hair black/dark brown prior to her feature film debut in ''Film/{{Lucas}}'' and is what she is known for.
* Creator/MollyRingwald, a famous redhead, dyed it that way after an agent advised her it was a good color to get her attention in the film industry. It worked.
* Creator/HelenSlater, normally dark-haired, dyed her hair for the film ''Film/{{Supergirl|1984}}'' to play the [[ComicBook/{{Supergirl}} titular character]] and hasn't looked back since.
* Creator/UmaThurman is actually a brunette, but has her hair bleached in most of her roles.
* Creator/DitaVonTeese dyes her hair black, and she does it herself.
* Similarly, redhead Cassandra Peterson dyes her hair black for her far more famous persona Creator/ElviraMistressOfTheDark, when she doesn't use a wig instead.
* Creator/JamesMarsters, who supposedly had issues after he stopped playing [[Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer Spike]] and went back to his natural brown hair.
* ''Series/MadMen'''s Creator/ChristinaHendricks is a natural blonde but has been dyeing her hair red since she was 10. Apparently it's because she was a massive fan of ''Literature/AnneOfGreenGables''. After ''Mad Men'' wrapped she dyed her hair a light shade of blonde as part of an advertising campaign for a hair colouring brand; it was rather jarring (and it wasn't long before she was back to red).

* Speaking of ''Xena'', Creator/ReneeOConnor, most well known for playing her partner Gabrielle, is also a blond, and dyed her hair red for the show.
* Creator/MerylStreep is a natural (light) brunette, but outside of [[DyeingForYourArt certain film roles]] she has had blonde hair for over thirty years.
* Creator/AngelinaJolie's hair is naturally a dark blonde. She occasionally reverts to it (''Film/GirlInterrupted'', ''Film/{{Gone in Sixty Seconds|2000}}'', ''Film/LifeOrSomethingLikeIt'') but jet black is the most common (''Film/{{Salt}}'' even has her going from blonde to black). She's apparently been doing it since the age of ''five''.

* Creator/CateBlanchett has forgotten what her actual hair color ''is''; she's usually seen with blonde, strawberry blonde or red hair.
* Creator/LaurenBacall was a natural brunette who dyed her hair red as a career move.

* Creator/LisaKudrow is also a natural brunette, but is known as a blonde.
* Creator/NicoleKidman, another natural redhead, often dyes her hair for movie roles. She allegedly began dying her hair blonde after it turned prematurely white.
* Creator/SarahMichelleGellar, best known for playing the blonde ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'', actually has brown hair and frequently played brunette characters during her early career. She also started off ''Buffy'' with slightly darker hair, and got progressively blonder with the seasons.

* Creator/AmyAdams is actually blonde but famously dyes her hair red (as seen in ''Film/{{Enchanted}}'', ''Film/TheFighter'', ''Film/TheMuppets2011'' and so on).
* Creator/EmmaStone is known for her red hair, but her natural color is actually blonde (not the bleached blond she has in ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan'', though). Creator/JuddApatow actually required her to dye it red for ''Film/{{Superbad}}'' making this a rare combination with DyeingForYourArt.

* Ashley Tisdale had blonde hair as Sharpay Evans in the ''Film/HighSchoolMusical'' series. With her first long layoff from the films in 2009, she's gone back to her natural dark auburn hair color. As of 2011 she's blond again. She dyed it blonde for ''Series/TheSuiteLifeOfZackAndCody''.
* Another Disney example: Creator/BellaThorne is actually a natural blonde (see [[http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3388639488/nm2254074 here]], for example).
* Creator/HilaryDuff, a natural brunette, is known to dye her hair blonde, namely in ''Series/LizzieMcGuire''. Since it's a dirty blond, she only had to have dyed lighter when she did ''Film/CasperMeetsWendy'', a couple years before ''Lizzie [=McGuire=]''.
* Margarita Carmen Cansino went from brunette to redhead when her studio basically Anglicized her into being Creator/RitaHayworth. Oddly enough it was treated as being a big deal when soon-to-be-ex-husband Creator/OrsonWelles made her dye her hair blonde for ''Film/TheLadyFromShanghai'', so maybe everyone had forgotten she wasn't a natural redhead either.
* Creator/BrittanyMurphy was a natural brunette; however, she got most of her more famous roles after she dyed her hair blonde. (''Film/{{Clueless}}'' and ''Film/GirlInterrupted'' notwithstanding.)
* Music/LindsayLohan is a natural redhead, though she has dyed her hair numerous times, from brown to jet black, light blonde, platinum blonde, and finally back to red again. There was a humorous [[http://www.celebuzz.com/2010-05-26/the-lindsay-lohan-hair-terror-alert-scale-photos/ article titled "The Lindsay Lohan Hair Terror Alert Scale"]] that associated how much of a chance she would behave by what shade her hair is, similar to the United States Homeland Security's Terror Alert Scale.
* Christine [=McIntyre=] was a natural brunette before she started working with Film/TheThreeStooges, when she dyed her hair blonde.
* Science presenter on Creator/TheBBC, Dr Alice Roberts used to be notorious for dyeing her hair every possible shade of red or orange, but it seems that with her shows now involving a lot of filming in remote locations, it became too much of a hassle and she doesn't bother anymore.
* Creator/FrankaPotente (''Film/TheBourneIdentity'', ''Film/RunLolaRun'') is known for dyeing her hair often.

* Lily Loveless is a natural brunette, but was bleached blonde for ''Film/{{Skins}}'' and [[Series/TheFades has barely gone back since]].
* Creator/RoseMcGowan is naturally brunette but has alternated between that, blonde and redhead. She went through all three colours during her time on ''Series/{{Charmed|1998}}''. The show hand waved the colour change saying a potion blew up on her and turned her hair that way.

* Actress Trestine Harper is a natural-born blonde, but had to dye her hair brown for her role as Farrah on ''Series/MyFamilyAndMe'' because the main character's best friend is supposed to be a brunette. You can still see her naturally blonde locks in her brown hair in her earlier appearances on the show.
* The black-haired Sergio Fantoni plays the ''very'' blonde Captain von Hecht in ''Film/HornetsNest''. His hair in the film is a very unnatural-looking shade of nearly white bleach-blonde.
* Creator/AlysonHannigan's natural hair colour is a brownish auburn but she is often seen with red hair or else dark brown. She was required to dye it red for ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' as she had the same colour as Sarah Michelle Gellar. She ended up keeping it for most of her career.

* Creator/SophieTurner is naturally a baby blonde, but she dyed her hair red for her role on ''Series/GameOfThrones'' and has kept that hair colour in all of her other roles, including famous redhead ComicBook/JeanGrey in ''Film/XMenApocalypse''. In 2018 she reverted to her natural blonde, coinciding with ''Game of Thrones'' finishing.

* Creator/DeborahAnnWoll is naturally a strawberry blonde. However, she began to dye it red during high school to, as she put it, no longer disappear into the background as she felt she did with her natural hair color. She retained this red hair color up through ''Series/TrueBlood'', where she played Jessica Hamby. She reverted back to her natural color prior to being cast as Karen Page in ''Series/Daredevil2015''.

* Creator/DanneelAckles is a natural brunette but has dyed her hair red for years and is mostly known as a redhead.

* Creator/KatieCassidy is a natural brunette like [[Creator/DavidCassidy her father]], but plays blondes in nearly her entire resume. It's kinda shocking the few times she shows up with brown hair (''Series/HarpersIsland'', the early seasons of ''Series/{{Arrow}}'').

* Ayzee from ''Webcomic/MoringMarkTOHComics'' is a natural brunette like [[HomosexualReproduction both of her mothers]], but comics set during her school years show that she starts dying it a faded purple with pink highlights as a teenager. The exact reason isn't stated, but she was probably inspired by her mother Amity, who continues to dye her own hair well into adulthood.

* Deborah Harry, lead singer of the group Music/{{Blondie}}, and was well known for her blond hair, hence the name of the group. When she decided to do some project on her own, she dyed her hair red either out of respect for not connecting it to the band (as she said) or because of some contractual obligation (may have been more likely). But she didn't dye her hair ''red'' the way normally expected, it was ''Fire Engine Red'', as in ''red paint''! It's been a more natural red shortly after Blondie broke up, as well as auburn for her role in ''Film/{{Videodrome}}''.

* Music/OzzyOsbourne is best known for his dark brown hair with auburn highlights, but during TheEighties, he went for a dirty blond mane.

* Creator/AngelinaJolie's hair is naturally a dark blonde. She occasionally reverts to it (''Film/GirlInterrupted'', ''Film/{{Gone in Sixty Seconds|2000}}'', ''Life Or Something Like It'') but jet black is the most common (''Film/{{Salt}}'' even has her going from blonde to black). She's apparently been doing it since the age of ''five''.

* Nina Harper in ''WesternAnimation/{{Braceface}}'' is portrayed with long red hair, but she's not actually a natural redhead. In fact, according to some flashbacks to when she and her [[FormerFriendOfAlphaBitch ex-BFF,]] [[HairOfGoldHeartOfGold Sharon Spitz]] [[TitleCharacter (the show's titular "Braceface"),]] were little kids, Nina's natural hair color is actually brown.

* Creator/RichardMadden has prematurely-graying hair and a white streak, which he dyes dark brown for his roles, but when he was cast in ''Film/TheEternals'', he was encouraged to keep his silver streaks since it was fitting for his character.

* Both ComicBook/BlackCanary are naturally black haired. The second originally wore a blonde wig to hide her hair but eventually grew it out and has been dyeing it for years. At the start of the ComicBook/New52 it had been retconned into being naturally blonde, but that was subsequently retconned as it was later shown that she bleached her hair blonde.
* ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'': The second Pre-Crisis ComicBook/{{Robin}}, Jason Todd, is was a natural redhead who dyes it black, ComicBook/PostCrisis writers couldn't seem to make up their minds about whether he was a natural brunette or redhead. The ComicBook/New52 made it naturally black.

* Peter Parker's clone, Ben Reilly from ''Franchise/SpiderMan'' dyes his hair blond to differentiate himself from Parker.
* ''Franchise/WonderWoman'':

Named as [[JustForPun a pun]] on the film series ''Film/DieHard''.

* Amity from ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' has naturally brown hair but dyes it green. WordOfGod says that she was forced to do so by [[ControlFreak her mother]] so she'd be color coordinated with her naturally green haired older siblings. [[spoiler:Part way though season 2, she starts dyeing it lavender instead as an act of independence and rebellion against her mother]]. Lilith is also confirmed by WordOfGod to dye her hair indigo in order to make herself appear more intimidating when she first joined the Emperor's Coven. Her real hair color is orange.

* Tommy Wiseau of ''Film/TheRoom'' fame has incredibly, unnaturally dark black hair that is remarked upon by Greg Sestero in ''Literature/TheDisasterArtist'' to look as if he's dyed it with Sharpies. Sestero also discovered that his bathroom is covered in black stains, heavily implies Wiseau dyes the whole lot over and over instead of just the roots, and finds old photos of him with chestnut brown hair. Wiseau seems to think it makes him look vampiric.

* Creator/JAMIErightmeow's hair has been pink, blonde, a pink/yellow vertical split and red so far.

* Dennis Rodman's creepy hairdo gets first place and some of them compose the image to the right. It even ported to his appearance in the video game ''NBA Hangtime'', where the player can actually '''choose''' which hair color Rodman will play with. His brief appearance in WCW led to him getting his own figure, which was available with blue or orange hair.

** Two members of the band Music/XJapan are particularly infamous for this. Most notably is late guitarist {{Music/Hide|toMatsumoto}}, whose hair was always somewhere on the red-pink color spectrum (whether a streak of pink in blonde, variant red colors, or in his last years, short and bright pink). Drummer/pianist/bandleader Music/{{Yoshiki|Hayashi}} started out with blond hair, occasionally went brown, and now tends to go for a deep chestnut reddish brown -- but never, ever black (the only time it has even been close to that in his adult life has been at/immediately after Hide's funeral.)

* {{Music/Madonna}} - she's naturally brunette, and sometimes lets her hair grow out naturally when she's tired of dyeing it.

** Wrestling/RicFlair is known for his bleach blond hair. He is (or was) a natural brunette. The same can be said for his daughter Wrestling/{{Charlotte|Flair}} and son David.

** Wrestling/{{Paige}} (dyed black)

** Wrestling/SashaBanks (naturally dark blond but has dyed her hair various shades of red, purple and pink).

* Wrestling/RandySavage was naturally dark blond. His hair darkened to light brown when he got older and he started dying in black in the 1990s.

* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'' :

* Kirino from ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'''s iconic orange hair is dyed. Her natural hair color is a dark brown.

* A novelization written by Creator/TakeshiShudo called ''Literature/PocketMonstersTheAnimation'' states that Misty's sisters wear wigs. While this could explain [[HollywoodGenetics their different hair colors]], like most in the book it has no [[CanonDiscontinuity canon evidence]] in the ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' anime itself.

* Max from ''Anime/{{Beyblade}}'' dyes his hair to attract girls, however we're never told what color it naturally is. Fan-speculation is that he lightens his natural blond hair, due to him having [[OffModel abnormally dark blond hair]] in one of the seasons.

* ''Literature/SheIsTheOne'': Rhona "Queen" Daniels parts her hair down the middle, dyes each half a different color, changes colors monthly, and never repeats combinations. It's implied she does this partly to distract from her GagBoobs.

Nor does it have anything to do with [[JustForPun the film series]] ''Film/DieHard''.

He even wore ''bright pink'' hair during the band's early days.
* Music/DynamiteTommy, record producer and pioneer of VisualKei, got his moniker from the flaming red hair he wore during his career as a musician. He later opted for a more-natural hair color in response to the overwhelming number of [[FollowTheLeader copycat]] acts that appeared after the second-wave VisualKei bands became popular.

* While [[Music/GreenDay Billie Joe Armstrong]] dyes his hair between blonde and black regularly, he used to dye it many crazy colors in the mid-90s: red, blue, blonde with oddly placed dreadlocks, etc.

* Music/{{Pink}} (singer Alecia Moore), who always has dyed hair, but doesn't stick to a specific color. It's been blonde, bleached blond, pink, jet black...

* {{Music/Madonna}} - she's naturally brunette, and sometimes lets her hair grow out naturally when she's tired of dying it.

* Music/EltonJohn, prior to his hair weave operation in 1992, was known for dying his hair in different colors, preferably a bright orange. He has said that his premature baldness had partly to do with having an accident with the dye.
* Music/LanaDelRey is naturally a blonde, and was blonde during her early years as Lana Del Ray. With the debut of ''Born To Die'', she had strawberry blonde hair, before gradually dyeing it darker over time. Since 2014 it's either been black or a very dark shade of brown, though as of 2020, she's let her hair go back to its original blonde shade.

* Farin Urlaub, one third of the German punk band ''Music/DieArzte'' dyes his hair blond because "it was fashionable in the 80s." Also had a crimson phase during the 90s. Their drummer Bela B. dyes his hair black, but it's naturally ash blonde.
* Richard Kruspe of Music/{{Rammstein}} is a natural brunette, but now keeps dyeing it black. Flake Lorenz of the same band has been well known for dyeing his hair a variety of colors over the years, but has gone back to his natural brown.

* ''Bernard Sumner,'' of Music/NewOrder and Music/JoyDivision, didn't start dyeing his hair until the mid 1980's or so. Nowadays, it's a blond-ish grey-ish colour, but in the very early days of ''New Order'' as well as in ''Joy Division,'' he had dark hair.

* Music/{{Eminem}}'s first single, "Just Don't Give A Fuck", didn't get played on MTV because Em's image as Slim Shady - a fleshy, sneering, dark-haired trailer-park dudebro, shot in black and white so it was harder to determine his skin colour - wasn't working. After [[WhatDidIDoLastNight spontaneously bleaching his hair while high on ecstasy]] (which he would have got rid of if not for Dre persuading him to keep it), he changed to a new image based on being a [[FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon smiling, adorable all-American boy with a heart of pure evil]], which was ''extraordinarily'' successful and created a fad for young men cropping and bleaching their hair. Eminem's blondness became his signature, referenced repeatedly throughout his work - "''who would have thought, standing in this mirror, bleachin' my hair/ with some peroxide, reachin' for a tshirt to wear/ that I would catapult to the forefront of rap like this?''" - until he returned to his natural colour for ''Film/EightMile'', by which time seeing him with dark hair was enough of a shock that it's made into a significant moment at the end of the movie. He maintained the blond hair up until after his drug overdose in 2008, going back to his natural colour to signal a break with his addiction, as well as generally increased maturity - in interviews in the early 2010s, he expressed confusion he maintained the bleached look for as long as he did, saying that being 35 and having bleached hair seemed [[AgeInappropriateDress pathetic]]. This also let him, in his comeback album ''Relapse'', experiment with a different incarnation of Slim Shady with a different personality ([[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent and accent]]) to the blond one. He went blond again in 2013 for ''The Marshall Mathers LP 2'' as RevisitingTheRoots, kept it throughout 2016, then reverted again to his natural colour for an [[AudienceAlienatingEra attempt at a serious, conscious pop album]] in 2017. (And grew a beard.)

* The band Japan all dyed their hair to start with, with singer Music/DavidSylvian going for a blond look, which he continued to use for the rest of their career and some of his solo career. He did it so well that many didn't know he dyed his hair. He has since reverted to his natural brownish-red colour, though his hair appears to have thinned from years of dyeing it. Pictures of him with natural hair colour from the early Japan days appear in their late bassist Mick Karn's book Japan & Self Existence.
* Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, the former members of Music/{{TATU}}, are usually recognized for having [[HairContrastDuo red hair and black hair]], respectively. Lena's natural hair color is strawberry blonde, while Yulia is a natural blonde.

* Red haired Shirley Manson of Music/{{Garbage}} cut her hair and bleached it blonde, sporting a faux hawk hairstyle during the ''Beautiful Garbage'' era, before reverting back to being a redhead. She has recently cut her hair to a shoulder length and dyed it [[RoseHairedSweetie pink]] during the ''Strange Little Birds'' era.

It seems that very few professional wrestlers use their natural hair color in the ring, with most people dying their hair either blond or black. It's a bit of a joke that all the blondes in wrestling are bottled and all the real blondes dye their hair something else.
* Dyed Blondes:

** Wrestling/DolphZiggler began his WWE career as Spirit Squad member Nicky (he was a brunette then). Since then, he bleached his hair blond (except for a few months in 2011 when he was a brunette). He's since stopped bleaching it, with the tips of his hair being blond and the rest brunette. As of 2017 he let his natural hair grow out.

** Wrestling/RicFlair is known for his bleach blond hair. He is (or was) a natural brunette. The same can be said for his daughter, Wrestling/{{Charlotte}} and son David.
** Wrestling/{{Sting}}, a natural brunette, dyed his hair blond from 1985-1995. He went back to his natural hair color in 1996 and has kept it ever since.
** Wrestling/{{Kaitlyn}} (naturally black and she stopped dying her hair after her retirement). She switched to a darker brown shortly before she left WWE.

** Wrestling/SethRollins (naturally a brunette, but used to dye the hair on one side of his head blond)
** Wrestling/HulkHogan (who is a natural blond, but started bleaching it as he got older) He was asked to dye his hair red during his first run in WWF (since Hogan is an Irish surname), but declined because he was already balding at the time. He actually did end up frying off most of his remaining hair during a dye job gone wrong (Hogan's ex-wife Linda used to dye his hair, after their split, he tried to do it himself and messed up) and now wears extensions in public to maintain his trademark look.
* Natural blondes:

* Wrestling/ZackRyder is red haired but bleaches most of it, making the rest appear light brown.

* Wrestling/EricBischoff had been dying his hair black for many years because [[PrematurelyGreyHaired his hair turned gray at a young age]]. He reverted to his natural color in 1999, re-dyed it in 2002 at Vince [=McMahon=]'s request, then went back to gray and stayed that way.
