* A variation in Literature/Serpico when the title character grows a moustache and lets his hair grow out after being transferred to plainclothes, so he won't look like all the other police officers with their short back-and-sides haircuts. Although his captain approves, it gets Serpico a reputation with his other superiors as a troublemaker.

** PlayedForLaughs when the Soul Reapers show up at Ichigo's school, wearing school uniforms. Ikkaku has his pants rolled up, no socks, and a wooden sword. Renji wears his uniform relatively normal, but with his shirt unbuttoned a bit, revealing the tattoos on his chest, while also wearing a bandanna on his forehead. Onlooking students comment on Yumichika and Rangiku not looking very threatening, and Toshiro and Renji looking odd. Then they point out the scary bald guy. Ikkaku was not amused.

She later woke up to find it shaved off and a note written on her bandages: "Sorry, had to mow the lawn."
