This trope is not really TruthInTelevision--at least, not very often. Sadists who tend to hurt animals directly tend to move on to hurting people. People who wear fur or eat meat are not doing so for sadistic reasons (mostly). Most animal rights activists likely don't believe this is true either, as they bank on people's compassion in many of their campaigns -- not that that [[TheWarOnStraw stops them invoking this trope]] ''in'' said campaigns.

* ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'' - The villain Peltra from the episode "Dial "M" For "Monkey". She collects pelts. Downplayed somewhat in that value does seem to be at least somewhat of a factor, since she flips out when Honeydew ruins Monkey's pelt by covering him in paint.

* Music/BarenakedLadies averted this in one song, where they sing about how if they had a million dollars, they'd buy a fur coat - but not a ''real'' fur coat, that's cruel. Of course, they also say they wouldn't buy a ''real'' green dress because [[RunningGag That's cruel]].

* Odette has a moment of this in the beginning of ''Literature/TheSorcerersDaughter''. When she learns that swan feathers are becoming fashionable, she gives orders to shoot the swans of Swan Lake to make enough feather-adorned dresses for herself and her ladies-in-waiting. Rothbart is outraged and [[VillainHasAPoint turns her and the ladies into swans]].

Or if makeup is [[AnimalTesting tested on animals]], it's not better because of any supposed advantages to the testing, but because these people know that their hair spray has also hurt innocent creatures.
