* Surprisingly touched upon in ''{{Killer 7}}''. When assassin [[spoiler: Jean [=DePaul=]]] brings up MASK de Smith's popularity with children, MASK responds by declaring that children's purity makes them the most objective judges in the world. Turns out they're right.
* Played straight in ''Nightmare Realm'' for Emily and most of the children that appear.
* One of the few survivors from Cabadath's blood trail in ''Trilby'sNotes'' is the woodcutter's son. According to the Evil Bible within the game it is because he is an innocent, but the book tends to downplay the bloodshed to say the least.

* Lilo from ''LiloAndStitch'' has some unusual interests in things kids her age shouldn't even be aware of, but when she's about to be taken away from her older sister Nani by a social worker, she has no idea what's really going on.
* HardCandy starts out with this trope played straight by the cute, innocent protagonist. Then 20 minutes into the movie it suddenly does a 180-turn and averts it.
* Brianna in ''MysteryTeam''.
* HotelRwanda has quite a few terrified children who simply cannot understand the concept of genocide. One of the most heartbreakingly memorable lines in the film comes when a red cross worker recalls being ForcedToWatch as the Hutu militia [[WouldHurtAChild slaughter Tutsi children]], and one of the children says "Please don't let them kill me. I promise I won't be Tutsi any more". She is killed anyway.
* Being a PaedoHunt / TooSmartForStrangers PublicServiceAnnouncement, ''Film/TrickyPeople'' plays this quite straight. Particularly {{anvilicious}} is Carmen's tearful confession to Yello Dyno of "not [being] a little girl anymore".

* ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUs'' doesn't just avert this trope, it ''[[DefiedTrope defies]]'' it. Ellie is in her early teens, but she grew up in an [[AfterTheEnd After]] [[ZombieApocalypse Z-Day]] scenario, and boy is that apparent from the way she acts. She's [[SirSwearsALot foul-mouthed]], [[DeadpanSnarker snarky]], [[AllWomenAreLustful lustful]] and [[LittleMissBadass definitely capable of handling herself]]. Also, Sarah in the game's ActionPrologue may be far more normal, but she still snarks about selling "hardcore drugs" to raise money for a birthday present for Joel. For a good idea of how this is, here's probably the funniest cutscene in the game:
-->'''Ellie''': I'm sure your friend will be missing ''this'' tonight."
-->'''Joel''': *driving, not paying attention* "M-hm."
-->'''Ellie''': "Light on the reading but it's got some interesting photos."
-->'''Joel''': "Now, uh, Ellie, that ain't for kids."
-->'''Ellie''': "Whoa! How... [[GagPenis How the Hell does he even walk around with that thing]]?"
-->'''Joel''': "Get rid of that, jus-"
-->'''Ellie''': "Hold yer horses! I wanna see what all the fuss is about. Oh. Why are all these stuck together?"
-->'''Joel''': "... Um..."
-->'''Ellie''': "Hehehe, relax, I'm just fucking with you."

* A hilarious subversion appears in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''. The girls are changing into their gala dresses and Spike is locked out, banging on the door and unable to understand why they won't let him in. Rarity is utterly repulsed that he wants to come in while they're dressing, ''until Applejack reminds her that they're usually naked and nudity isn't taboo''.

** But it's played straight in Goblet Of Fire. Gabrielle, Fleur's little sister is used as a kidnap victim in one of the Challenge tasks. Fleur tries but is unable to save the little girl on her own, so Harry rescues Gabrielle even though it means he completes his own rescue task (saving Ron) outside of the time limit. Ron scolds Harry for this, until the judges award bonus points for Harry's heroism where Ron promptly changes his tune. Interestingly, Percy the Weasley brother who is known for explicitly valuing rules, authority, and appearances, is one of the judges who thinks Harry's decision to save Gabrielle was praise-worthy so he's likely a firm believer in this trope as most of Percy's Pet the Dog moments involve protecting or helping First Year Students. In the final battle, he even escorts a bunch of First Years to safety after he returns and apologizes to his family. Gabrielle is always considered innocent, she later develops a mild crush on her hero Harry and while Ginny is very annoyed by this, none of the other characters blame or criticize the little girl for it. (Gabrielle's approximately 10 in the last book.)

This began to change once Youth Counterculture became a major social issue during the 1950's, with ''RebelWithoutACause'' being among the first movies to subvert this trope.
