The Cam Whore is a person -- often young and nubile -- who goes on camera wearing lingerie or revealing clothes and teases willing visitors on their webcam in exchange for money or goods, typically via online wish lists (gifts). Exactly how much a Cam Whore shows off depends on their propriety, "character", and category of "camming". Some make a modest second income from just showing off their underwear or cleavage, but nudity and sex acts are the norm. Camming: Money, Power, and Pleasure in the Sex Work Industry.
Angela Jones
NYU Press, Feb 18, 2020. p. 44 transcribes a list of explicit sex acts and the required tip rate. Due to the market being flooded (as all that's required is a laptop and a webcam), the largest proportion of income goes to the top stars.

Charging actual money or going into explicit, X-rated activities (solo masturbation, using sex toys, couple intercourse), takes one out of teasing lingerie model territory and into the cam sex worker bracket. The advent of [=OnlyFans=] and similar sites has blurred the lines. Others, like Chaturbate, are wall-to-wall explicit sex.

While cam modeling is safer than working at strip clubs or brothels, since there's no physical contact and no pimps, models still face the risk of blackmail (threats to doxx their real name and address), online stalking, and harassment. As well, some heavy tippers may pressure cam models to do acts they do not want to do.

There is also an entirely virtual version of the Cam Whore thanks to the invention of VideoGame/SecondLife, where people will turn their animated avatars into virtual strippers or lap dances in exchange for virtual money (Lindens). This can then be exchanged for real currency.

This trope can overlap with SingleMomStripper if she's doing it to support a child. Not to be confused with the derogatory term for people who like to take photos of themselves and upload them on the internet way too often, or with people who insist on being front-and-center in any picture or video taken in their vicinity.

!!Examples:

* It's strongly implied that Mari Gotojuki of Manga/DigimonVTamer01 did this or a toned-down version of it before she was recruited by Neo Saiba.
* In Manga/Chobits, Chi is tricked into becoming one of these for a time, but ultimately rescued before things get too explicit.

* Present in UnbuiltTrope form in 1969 movie Film/ModelShop. The "model shop" is a seedy little photography studio where good-looking women pose naked on behalf of horny men who bring their own cameras.
* Film/girlhouse is about a website that streams the uncensored lives of the girls living inside its walls in a sort of x-rated reality show, 24/7. It is up to girls how much or how little they show.
* Max Thieriot plays camboy Kyle in Disconnect.
* In , April has a website dedicated to making erotic videos of herself, and at one point has convinced her mother to film a video with her in their pool. After [[spoiler: discovering that her father was shot by Senator [=McLaughlin=], she dons a nun's habit to kill him for revenge]].
* Brooke in Film/Vlog. She makes all of her vlog posts in her lingerie in order to attract subscribers, and even refers to herself as a 'cam girl' at one point.

* Series/Bosch: In episode "El Compadre" it's revealed that teenage delinquent Sharkey's mom is a cam girl. His inability to deal with her lifestyle is apparently one of the reasons he's a chronic runaway.
* Series/TheBoys2019: Crimson Countess was once a popular superhero in the team Payback in the 80s. Her heyday has passed, and an episode shows her also doing this to pay her bills. Unusually for this trope, she's shown to do other things; being introduced performing a song at a superhero theme park.
* Kate on Series/UnitedStatesOfTara briefly becomes this during Season 2.
* Niki on Series/Heroes was introduced this way, with Ando being one of her more well-known watchers. When the two first meet, Ando is confronted with the reality that Niki's personality is quite different from what she's known for.
* Creator/LouisTheroux visited a camgirl as part of his documentary Twilight of the Porn Stars. The girl in question (Kagney Linn Karter) was also a porn starlet who appeared in conventionally distributed adult films, which is a pretty common form of crossover in the industry.
* A Season 43 sketch on Series/SaturdayNightLive featured a police surveillance outfit that kept losing the surveillance feed and blundering into the live feed of a couple of low-rent cam whores.
* An episode of Series/HappyEndings has Alex take in a roommate who unbeknownst to her is camming from the apartment (including Alex). Jane discovers the feed and Alex kicks the roommate out. After Alex gets her cut of the week's earnings, though...
* On Series/Riverdale, Chic does this for a living and Betty tries it once.
* For an arc that lasted a few episodes of Series/DesperateHousewives, Susan cleaned her motel room in her underwear in front of a webcamful of paying voyeurs to extend their tight budget. While initially reluctant, she grew much more enthusiastic once she saw just how much it stretched by.

* Invoked in "Synthesizer" by Music/Outkast featuring Music/GeorgeClinton. The song is about the internet and technology taking over modern culture, and Clinton spends much of the song whispering in the background about "Cybersexy Wendy, web-walking in the nude." Interestingly, the song came out in 1996 when this trope was in its infancy.

* Wrestling/KellyKelly debuted on ECW in a segment called 'Kelly's Exposé', where she would strip off her clothes for the camera. She would always be stopped by her BastardBoyfriend Mike Knox before she could remove everything however.

* This is one of the character classes you can choose to play in VideoGame/ForumWarz.
* Midori (a.k.a. Dolly) from VideoGame/DevilSurvivor.
* In VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft, some players would strip their female Night Elf characters out of their armor and have them sexy dance on top of the Ironforge mailbox for tips.
* The entire point of VideoGame/HuniecamStudio is to make a camgirl empire.
* In VideoGame/HeroAndDaughter, one of the recruitable party members, Selphie, is a livestreaming ValleyGirl in an otherwise "vaguely-fantasy-medieval" RPGMechanicsVerse. When a viewer asks her to show less cleavage, she's outraged, since that would mean fewer viewers.
* Jenny, in VideoGame/SummertimeSaga, makes her living this way, providing sexual content for money. She eventually ropes the MC (i.e. the similarly brown-haired male character who lives in the same house as her and definitely isn't her brother) into it as well.
* One of the four main characters in VideoGame/TellingLies is a camgirl.
* VideoGame/BoxxyQuestTheShiftedSpires: The name of what's effectively harpies, is Camwhore. The ones that are fought can't be talked to, but there's one living in Skype that's friendly.
* VideoGame/Yakuza 6 has the Live Chat minigame, where Kiryu can watch videos of real life Japanese [=AV=] stars flirting (and stripping down to bikinis) for the viewers.

* Webcomic/IngridThePlagueDoctor occasionally flash-forwards from the rustic-ish setting to show that the titular doctor's sentient leeches will eventually produce "E-Leech", a GamerChick with a large internet following (though she would prefer they take care of themselves before donating to her).
* This is how Roz made a living in Webcomic/Shortpacked. spoiler:The reason she ended up moving in with Robin was that one of her viewers found her address, and she felt safer living with her former SuperSoldier sister, who at the time was living with another former SuperSoldier.
* PlayedForDrama in Webcomic/JoeVsElanSchool. One night, Joe browses an Elan survivor message board and sees recognizes a female classmate of his in a porn video that someone has linked. Joe angrily calls out his fellow Elan alumni for exploiting and making fun of the girl.
* Anne of WebComic/NerfNow toes the line between GamerChick streamer and Cam Whore, given how she has no shame in using cosplay and skimpy outfits to entice fans (within Twitch guidelines, of course).

* This is made fun of at Website/TheBestPageInTheUniverse here. (warning, NotSafeForWork)
