* Played entirely straight in [[http://www.webcomicsnation.com/shaenongarrity/narbonic_plus/series.php?view=archive&chapter=32408#123757 this]] ''{{Narbonic}}'' strip. There's a slight twist, in that due to Artie's self-image as "the good one", he's trying to convince ''himself'' what he's planning isn't blackmail.

* This is inverted in an episode of the 60s ''Series/{{Batman}}'' series where the hero's attempt to stake out the Joker turns sour (as Bruce Wayne, he tries to buy counterfeit cash from the Joker, claiming he needs it to replace money he embezzled; the idea is to gain proof that the Joker is counterfeiting, but the Joker escapes with Wayne's "confession" recorded). When he tries to use the info he gained, the villain flat out tells Wayne that it's blackmail.
