* Comes up twice in the Literature/MistressOfTheArtOfDeath series.
** In "The Death Maze", Adelia and her friends find one of Rosamund's mantraps in her barn . Unlike most mantraps of the era designed for catching and holding the leg, hers are extra big and strong so they close up to the victim's groin instead, killing them. This keeps them from exploring the woods, worrying that more are hidden beneath the snow.
** In Relics of The Dead, one of these posthumously exonerates . Adelia finds his fingers in a toothed bear trap, proving that he'd been trapped trying to sneak in the night of the Abbey fire, and thus couldn't have set it himself. He had to sever his fingers to escape the fire, but tragically died anyway from the blood loss.

* In Film/TheGeneral, Buster Keaton's character Johnnie and his girlfriend walk into one of these immediately after escaping from an actual bear. It takes several minutes to get themselves free. Fortunately it's of the non-toothed variety.

* There's an episode of Series/CSINY where someone sets a bear trap in a blind alley in order to catch an alien. The trap works, but it's really a paint baller with green paint dripping down his gear who gets caught.
