* Interesting subversion in ''Film/HowlsMovingCastle'', in that Sophie's appearance definitely changes according to how she feels about herself. When she is happy and self-confident, she is beautiful and her features are soft. When she thinks she looks ugly though, her features resume the "old hag" look of her curse. In a way it could be seen as the viewer seeing through Sophie's eyes, the idea being that if you feel beautiful, you see yourself as *looking* beautiful too.

* The ''{{Fable}}'' series shows an incredible difference between good and evil player characters. Unfortunately, it is incredibly easy to switch between alignments. If your halo-sporting goody-two-shoes eats enough live chickens, he'll turn into a (very fat) horned monster with dry, pale skin. Then all you have to do is donate enough money to the temple, and you're back to that glowing aura of IncorruptiblePurePureness.

* Kuzco's features in ''TheEmperorsNewGroove'' also change once he has learned his [[AnAesop Aesop]].

* ''{{inFAMOUS}}'' does this too. Being good makes your clothes brighter and your lighting a cheerful blue. Being evil makes your skin and clothes turn black and white and your lightning a bloody red. The sequel ups this. A good character's scar fades and his amp becomes a shiny chrome, while an evil character scar gets worse and his amp becomes rusted.

* ''{{Gundam 00}}'' has the Harros, which are adorable robots which are clearly at least partially sapient. While those owned by [[NiceGuy Lockon]] and the BridgeBunnies are friendly and playful, that owned by [[{{Yangire}} Nena Trinity]] has [[RedEyesTakeWarning red eyes]] and a nasty/cruel sense of humor.

** Another explanation for this is that the Genie, although forced to serve evil, was still ''rooting for the good guy''.
** He doesn't look so much evil as just plain grim. Pretty understandable, considering that he really doesn't like what he's doing in that scene.
* Yzma from ''[=~The Emperor's New Groove~=]'' subverts this. She takes one of her own potions, and does the maniacal laughter thing, but when the smoke clears, [[spoiler:she's a cute little kitten]]. This pretty much marks the moment she went from BigBad to BetaBaddie, even though there was no new BigBad.
** Kuzco himself is a diluted example as well. He begins the movie sharp-featured and with less typically Disney features. But after living through his [[AnAesop Aesop]], he emerges out the other side a better person, and he's suddenly less sharp-featured, and more closely resembles a typical Disney Prince.
* The Beast in Disney's ''Disney/{{Beauty and the Beast}}'' starts as a savage, frightening, animalistic monster who is prone to roaring, going about half-naked and stalking around on all fours. About halfway though his design starts to soften. By the end of the movie he's standing up straight, fully clothed, soft-spoken, and can hardly be considered scary. Some have even described him as ''cuddly.''

* ''{{Ratatouille}}'' has a [[JustifiedTrope justified]] example. Anton Ego looks rather like a gloomy, dark specter early in the film. But by the end of the film, he has some color in his face, and the lines of his expression have softened some. He has found food he truly enjoys eating, and is enjoying life now that he's no longer working to critique food he wasn't enjoying and can take pleasure from food and good company rather than in trying to tear down others.
* Prince Naveen of ''{{The Princess and the Frog}}'' starts out very smarmy looking. By the end of the film, he is much more gentle-featured to show that his experiences have weaned him of selfishness and pleasure seeking.

* On ''{{Buffy the Vampire Slayer}}'' and ''{{Angel}}'', vampires look completely human when acting "normal," but when their inner demon starts to shine through, it shows [[GameFace on their face]] -- [[OurVampiresAreDifferent bumpy ridges, scary yellow eyes]], and [[ToothyIssue fangs]], [[FangThpeak of course]].
* When {{Angel}} turns into his pure demon component in Pylea, his features are even more extreme. His skin turns green, his fingernails become claws, and where there were once just bumpy ridges he has spikes. He is far more wild in this form than normally, turning almost completely into a wild animal and going so far as to attack his friends.
** The Buffyverse also has subversions:
*** Lorne is a scary looking demon, but he's just a gifted karaoke reader, and mostly sweet and gentle-natured.
*** Clem is an ugly, scary looking demon but is also pretty gentle and nice ... for a demon.
**** Nice enough to be trusted to look after a teenaged girl when a powerful evil force is threatening her and her friends. Even though he claims to do it because he fears Buffy, arguably the First Evil is just as scary even if it can't physically kick his ass.

* Another video game example: ''{{Fable}}''. If you're good, you get a halo and a pillar of light shines down on you. If you're bad, you grow horns.
** Fable 2 extends this with Purity and Corruption. Depending on your alignment you can either look like Disney Princess/Prince esque or something that crawled up from the seventh circle of Hell

* In ''{{The Legend of Zelda}}: TwilightPrincess'', right before the battle with Blizzeta, Yeta's face [[NightmareFuel abruptly swings around to reveal a more demonic version]] as she is consumed by the Mirror of Twilight.
