* ''VideoGame/MegaMan2's'' final boss is an alien thing against a black starry background... [[spoiler:but it's all smoke and mirrors.]] The Sigma stages in ''VideoGame/MegaManX 5'' are probably the trippiest, though.
** Each final boss in ''VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork'' does this. We go from orange streaks in the first game to the background dissolving, being absorbed by a giant amoeba, swirly cosmic stars and planets, peoples' souls gathering, and finally trippy, psychedelic tye-dye designs in the final game.
*** Those are only notable examples, though, as every single battle takes place in a trippy battlefield.

The Sigma final stages in ''VideoGame/MegaManX 5'' of ''VideoGame/MegaManX5'' are probably set in "Zero Space", a trippy-as-all-get-out area where the trippiest, though.
**
Zero Virus's overwhelming power has caused the real world and {{cyberspace}} to merge together.

* In VideoGame/SandsOfDestruction'', the Primal Cataract contains a chunk of rock for each of the seven colors of the rainbow. When you finally reach the end to fight [[spoiler:Lacertus Rex - the real one -]] it has a flowing, twirling rainbow. [[spoiler:But this isn't even the final dungeon; it's just the ''gateway'' to it.]]

** Both games seem to be subversions (The PS2 ones): The first has the final fight in the heart of reality itself, a dark featureless void (barring the EldritchAbomination FinalBoss), and the second (presumably) takes place in the remains of the VeryDefinitelyFinalDungeon....which is a ''white'' featureless void.

** ZigZagged in ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsBirthBySleep''. Terra and Aqua have fairly mundane Final Boss arenas. Ventus has his [[DreamWorld Awakening platform]] with a stained glass floor and black void. The [[UpdatedRerelease Final Mix]] adds another technicolor field for Aqua, not [[CallBack too far from the first game's final world.]]
