And most importantly, what if one woman proved to be the key that put America on this better and more just path? * Conscription: In 1981, the United States military still has and uses active conscription. Howevery both men and women are subject to it and it is very difficult nigh impossible to obtain a defferment from call-up if one recieves a notice. Regardless. American conscripts are prioritized for support, logistics and other non-combat duties with volunteers prioritized for any front line or second echelon dudies. Even so, in 1981 the U.S. military is only 15 percent conscripted.
