The Team Cleanup: Indentation, Tropeslashing

* TheTeam / TheSquad: The main characters, Whitewood's Claw, are a group of trained soldiers with their own specialties.
** TheLeader / FriendlySniper: Dominic Lupus. As a Canine, he's a born leader, and he's most comfortable using a sniper rifle in combat.
** TheLancer / GadgeteerGenius: Garrison Chit-Tora. He's the fastest of the team, and creates gadgets and equipment for combat, like his trademark exploding arrows.
** CuteBruiser: Claire Xiǎotùzi. She's a skilled martial artist, and can use qi to enhance her strength, borrow additional power from others, and even cause random spasms in opponents if she can stay focused enough.
** TheBigGuy: Gang Xiǎotùzi. He's the strongest melee fighter of the team, possessing all the same skills as Claire, but is far more adept than her. He was quickly traded to First Squad for Cory, as they needed the extra muscle for a dangerous mission.
** CombatMedic: Percy Pine. He's a trained medic who was once trying to become a doctor, and can use his spines for acupressure, but he doesn't shy away from combat, usually using his spines like darts.
** TheSmartGirl / TheEngineer: Katrina Tora. She mostly specializes in vehicle maintenance and driving, though she's also a swift and adaptive fighter.
** TheHeart / TheSmartGirl: Tracy Moufette. She's the team chemist, having created a lotion that's applied to their claws and helps kill foreign agents like the Hairless infection, and also makes other explosives and ointments. She's also a great shot with a pistol, but refuses to kill.
** DesignatedPointMan / {{Ninja}}: Jacob Vesp. As the only Avian on the team, he usually flies ahead for reconnaissance. His trademark weapons are shurikens.
** NewMeat / GadgeteerGenius: Cory Tófa. He replaces Gang early on, having just recently finished his training, and specializes mostly in weapons and equipment maintenance and management. He also is a decent driver and shot, despite his inexperience.

* FunnyAnimal / PettingZooPeople: More of a hybrid of the two. Their legs are more animal-like than human, but they still have footwear. Those who ordinarily have claws still have them, but their front paws are evolved to hold tools and weapons. They usually walk on their hind legs, but go on all fours when they run. The Avians have wings, but they have hands at the ends of them.

-> ''But, like all things, this eventually came to an end. One day, in the sixty-second year of the Steel and Stone Era, an epidemic was recorded. It was sweeping across much of the western hemisphere of Primereth. Within a year, thousands were stricken with this disease, and hundreds more were dying from it. In an attempt to cure this epidemic, the Simians' greatest medical scientists came together to forge a vaccine. At first, it seemed to work, as those that had been infected and then had the vaccine tested on showed improved vitals. However, all too late did they realise that they'd created something...worse. [[SyntheticPlague Their vaccine actually bonded to the disease]], creating something completely new, an unholy union that mutated the bodies of those it rested in, and degraded their minds to their most primal forms: Those of hunters, killers, and conquerors of all kinds. Making matters worse was that the disease could be spread through bodily fluids, and in their degraded and deranged minds, those that were mutated were biting, clawing, and worse at anyone and anything in their path.''

* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale: Averted, as Dominic is very clearly traumatized by this and it isn't played for laughs in any way.

* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnMale: Averted, as Dominic is very clearly traumatized by this and it isn't played for laughs in any way. J.A. Phillips went on to admit that this was done largely done due to disgust at the idea that men can't be raped because they all want it. Chapter 16 ends with a rant from the writer about the stereotype and openly asks anyone who follows him online and subscribes to said stereotype to unfollow him.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Jerkass}}: Garrison is oftentimes rude, crass, vulgar, and even threatening to his team-mates. For the most part, the rest of the team are in agreement over this, though some are more forgiving about it than others, considering certain tragedies of his past.

* AllWomenAreLustful: Elektra Dae, and Claire to a slightly lesser degree, are very open with their sexuality.

* RoyalHarem: Elektra Dae possesses one. Harems are usually illegal, but through various legal loopholes, and all the members having joined voluntarily, hers is allowed.

* RapeAsBackstory: Dominic is hinted frequently throughout the story to have this be the case, and suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of it.

to:

* OurZombiesAreDifferent / TechnicallyLivingZombie: The Hairless have many traits with zombies, and the story itself has a lot in common with zombie apocalypse stories, but the biggest difference is that the Hairless are very much alive. Infection doesn't work on the dead, and causing enough damage to a Hairless will kill them.

* RemovingTheHeadOrDestroyingTheBrain: Technically, cutting a Hairless' head off WILL kill it, as would shooting it through the brain. However, because its bones (and thus, its skull) are as strong as steel and withstood three close-range sniper shots, this is easier said than done.

-> ''After three years, most of the western hemisphere had fallen into chaos, the Simians were an endangered species, and the Steel and Stone Era was replaced with the Primal Era. The united population of Primereth was becoming divided again, though not simply by race, but also in ideas and plans for the future, personal agendas and vendettas, and overall political power and influence. Cities became reconstructed to keep out those carrying the disease as best as possible. However, there remained fallen cities still rich in natural resources, now left untapped. For the sake of survival, many cities began creating teams of specialists, survivalists, and warriors that could brave the now ruined and dangerous world outside their towers to retrieve said resources. These teams would soon begin rivaling ones from other cities, and began to take up missions that involved interfering in the matters of other cities and their leaders.''

!!Primal Strife contains examples of:
*ActionGirl: Claire, the martial artist of the group, gets plenty of moments to shine in fights. Of particular note is when she lands the finishing blow needed to split a giant Reptile Hairless' tail from its body.
** Katrina gets her fair share of moments, too, though most of them involve her highly re-purposed RV, the Nova, and its turret gun.
** Even Tracy has a badass moment here and there, despite her refusal to kill.
*BrotherSisterIncest: Garrison and Katrina, though they [[NotBloodRelated aren't related by blood]], as Garrison was adopted after his family were murdered by the Hairless.
*FurryFemaleMane: Averted somewhat, as all the mammal-based creatures of Primereth have human-like heads of hair, it just happens to be the same colour as their fur most of the time.
*RapeAsBackstory: Dominic is hinted frequently throughout the story to have this be the case, and suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of it.
