* WhatTheHellHero: Carlton is kidnapped and disappeared without a trace, but his father, who is a police sheriff, doesn't go looking for him because of his son's history with unethical pranks. Because of this and him willing to not even search for his own son once, his wife calls him out on this and causes him to spring back into action, eventually [[BigDamnHeroes arriving to save the teenagers from Dave]].

1-2.) Plot happens. Doesn't give a reason why we should expect otherwise. 3.) Character reaction.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** When the police found a likely suspect for the killer, they didn't have enough evidence to convict him, so they had to let him go.
** Carlton's head injury, courtesy of [[spoiler:Mr. Afton]], incapacitates him for a time even after he's rescued.
** After his first business [[spoiler: Fredbears Family Diner gets abandoned because his son was killed there]], his wife leaves him, his second restaurant Freddy's has five children murdered there, ''and'' he is accused of the murderers, [[spoiler: Charlotte's dad Henry kills himself. Most people in his position probably would do the same]].

''Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes'' ([[WorkingTitle initially]] ''Five Nights at Freddy's: The Untold Story'') is a book based on the ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' series. While series creator Scott Cawthon is the author, Kira Breed-Wrisley is also involved in the book's creation. Although Scott has confirmed the book to be an AlternateContinuity from the games, it explores aspects not shown by them.

* SchlubbyScummySecurityGuard: Mall security guard Dave Millar is a shifty, [[LeanAndMean gaunt]], badly scared man, who despite seemingly laid back always gives the impression of being not quite right. Fixed Adaptation Dye Job due to eye color errors. Deleted the eye colors mentioned .instead Glowing Eyes of Doom due to that information being in the previously mentioned entry. Removed Midquel due to this book being in it's own continuity with no standing (save for certain bits of lore) in the in-game universe.

* AdaptationDyeJob: Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy's eye colours change from cyan, maroon, magenta and yellow to red, blue, orange and silver, respectively. Their GlowingEyesOfDoom have changed from white to red, blue, orange and silver too.

* GlowingEyesOfDoom: As per the games, the Fazbear Four have these. Interestingly, their standard white night-vision eyes have been replaced by red, blue, orange and silver, for Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy, respectively. These lights are much, ''much'' brighter than they are in the games, though. Freddy's and Bonnie's are stated to light up entire rooms solely ByTheLightsOfTheirEyes.

* {{Midquel}}: It appears to take place between [[Videogame/FiveNightsAtFreddys the original game]] and ''Videogame/FiveNightsAtFreddys3'', but due to it being an AlternateContinuity, it's entirely probable that neither game happened (or will happen in ''3'''s case).

* PrecisionFStrike: The original eBook version had Carlton say the word "jackass", which is notable considering it's probably the first time in '''the entire series''' that anything higher than "damn" or "hell" had been uttered at that point. To be fair, [[spoiler:This was after the time Dave attempted to kill Carlton by stuffing him in an animatronic suit.]] Conversely, "jackass" wasn't all that vulgar a word considering its repeated use in Disney's ''WesternAnimation/Pinocchio'' to describe ill-behaved children.

If the example is YMMV, then it's probably not an example of the trope; Examples Are Not Arguable.

** YMMV, but this troper got the impression that the police in Hurricane were either in on the murders, or otherwise so criminally incompetent at their jobs that they should be stripped of their badges. A single officer goes to check out the restaurant, with no backup. He is consequently murdered and yet nobody bothers to check in on him when he goes radio silent. Carlton's dad comes to the scene (again, with zero backup), never radios the precinct to let them know the situation while he's there, enters the restaurant without making sure that the area is properly secured, and after the event ends, doesn't even call an ambulance for the VERY obviously injured Charlie, whose leg was cut so deep by Foxy's hook that it is implied to have severe nerve damage. What's more, the kids were allowed to walk away from the incident with minimal hindrance. If a police officer got killed IRL, a SWAT team would have been sent in, every inch of that restaurant would have been scoured from stem to stern, those kids would first have been given proper medical attention, and then held for questioning and made to give a full testimony of the events that took place, not to mention charged with trespassing on private property and breaking and entering. Worse yet, in the sequel it is implied that they never even bothered to look for Afton's body before tearing the place down.

* LoweredMonsterDifficulty: Getting caught by the animatronics in any of the games results in an instant and implicitly awful death. Here, the heroes have a chance to knock them over, evade them, or just run like hell. Justified in a Watsonian sense (there are multiple fit teenagers rather than a single security guard, and can maneuver or flank around the animatronics) and a Doylist sense (it's more tense and exciting than slavishly replicating a very particular form of horror experience).
