* {{Macguffin}}: The Stand Arrows, ancient artifacts that can grant a Stand to anyone pierced by the Arrow (assuming they survive and/or have enough willpower to actually manifest a Stand), as well as empowering a Stand user. Their first major appearence is in ''Diamond Is Unbreakable'', where they're used as explanations for the various Stand users popping up in Morioh [[spoiler:and to give a power up to BigBad Kira in second half of the story]], and they become more significant in the second half of ''Golden Wind'' as the driving goal for both the protagonists and the antagonist is to find one of these Arrows to prevent the other side from using it to evolve their Stand.

* MundaneMadeAwesome: Any instance in which the heroes are challenged to a game instead of a battle. The game will still be treated with all the drama as a life-and-death battle. This leads to things like an overly dramatic game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, or a game of poker where the players are betting each others' souls.

As a matter of fact, World Of Buff (or rather, World Of Muscle Men) is a real trope.

Trope is now Definition Only

** The early parts of ''Phantom Blood'' (before Dio became a vampire) had quite a few panels where characters were in anatomically-questionable poses with near-[[Creator/RobLiefeld Liefeldian]] proportions. ''Battle Tendency'' also has its problems, but at least the poses don't look cripplingly painful.
** The 2012 anime has several examples of oddly drawn facial expressions. However, examples from ''Phantom Blood'' aren't ''terrible'', and most examples were [[EnhancedOnDVD fixed for home video]]. The later episodes of ''Battle Tendency'', on the other hand, manage to have [[AnimationBump some of the best]] and ''worst'' moments in the series. ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' is mostly free of this trope, although [[http://i.imgur.com/oQ2GXjf.jpg parts of Killer Queen's reveal are a little off-putting.]]

This is actually just plain not an example of Mind Screw. Most of what happens in the story can be taken at face value. While it can be weird at time, it never gets confusing and doesn't excessively rely on symbolism or surreal elements.

* MindScrew: It may be the ultimate mind screwing anime, with [[JigsawPuzzlePlot completely crazy plots]]. ** Speedwagon likes sporting these. His first one even doubles as a bladed throwing weapon.
** Gappy/Part 8 Josuke wears a 'dixie-cup' style sailor hat, constantly. He even gets pulled out of the ground in it.
