* The DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything page discusses the [[FreudWasRight blatant penis analogy]] with the Sword (even more so than most {{BFS}}s), and points out that this brings a whole new and [[{{Squick}} frankly terrifying]] dimension to [[FoeYay Cluny's recurring nightmare about being stabbed with it]].

** Oddly, Ublaz, who borders on being a VillainousCrossdresser, is less HoYay than self-yay -- even his interactions with Rasconza lack much in the way of subtext, but [[ADateWithRosiePalms you pity whoever was stuck cleaning Ublaz's mirror after the Villain Rant]]. The AccidentalInnuendo isn't limited to this; an entire book is called ''The Sable Quean'', which is a real word, but outside of Scotland tends to mean woman of ill repute. (Vilaya does kind of have a dominatrix thing going, insofar as you can when the book's meant for eight-year-olds ...) A particularly fun quote regarding one pair of ThoseTwoGuys:

* Blaggut's behaviour towards Slipp is faintly reminiscent of [[TheSimpsons Smithers and Burns]], and Blaggut's MookFaceTurn speech reads a tad like a bad breakup.

** Also in the Bellmaker, Joseph and Finnbarr have a bit of a DecemberDecemberRomance going on, to the point that Joseph is the one Finnbarr [[DiedInYourArmsTonight wants to be with when he dies.]]

* ''Outcast of {{Redwall}}'' features Sunflash the badger and Skarlath the hawk, who save each other's lives and go wandering together for several years. After [[spoiler:Skarlath is shot and killed]] at the end of the book, Sunflash writes a sappy poem to Skarlath, including the line "O Skarlath, there was never one like you". Meanwhile, Sunflash's two otter friends Ruddle and Folrig live out in the middle of nowhere all by themselves, alternate between jokingly insulting each other and calling the other handsome, and take every opportunity to leap on each other and start wrestling/hugging. Also, they use [[HelloSailor a lot of nautical terms]].
** After the harewife reads Sunflash's poem to the leverets in the epilogue, she proceeds to tell them that he was "a great and wise badger with many unusual qualities." [[AmbiguouslyGay And just what does]] ''[[AmbiguouslyGay that]]'' [[AmbiguouslyGay mean]]?

* Not only is Julian incredibly camp, he and Snow have the most overt "bitter exes" vibe in the entire series. Considering the fact that they're [http://www.nonsenselit.org/Lear/ns/pussy.html an owl and a pussycat], one wonders if that was intentional; if only they'd sailed away in a beautiful pea-green boat it would have been confirmed.

** [[InnocentInnuendo For those unfamiliar, they're actually talking about indoor archery.]] This troper, in her teens, had a RunningGag with fellow MinionShipping fandom friends that [[spoiler:Brother Hal]] really died because he overheard that line and the [[NoYay disturbing mental images]] gave him a heart attack before the arrow actually hit him. The pair in question also "clung to each other in panic" after being forcibly stripped and about to be [[ThePigpen given a bath]], and spent all their onscreen time bickering like old marrieds and, on a stereotypical note, [[LargeHam being ridiculously melodramatic]] including shameless fake crying fits.

* Captain Snow and Squire Julian could ''possibly'' have got away with this if not for their species. Even when this troper was a kid, she looked at them and [[http://www.nonsenselit.org/Lear/ns/pussy.html wondered if they have a beautiful pea-green boat]]. Since it's hard to believe Mr Jacques had never even heard of that poem, it really makes one wonder if he meant it.

* Rinkul's announcement that he intends to recapture Tammo and Midge and "take 'em somewheres nice'n'quiet where I'll [[RapeAsDrama do that pair 'ard'n'slow afore dawnbreak]]" left this troper, at the age of fourteen, re-reading the whole page about four times to be sure it really had said what she thought it said, and then giggling uncontrollably. * Brome and Felldoh is practically ''canon.'' Brome is completely in awe of Felldoh and obsessed with everything he does. His devastation at Felldoh's BloodKnight tendencies reads almost like a lover finding out an unpleasant truth about their other. On his side, Felldoh is amazingly understanding of Brome even when being called out by him, and Brome's stories about Noonvale actually move him to tears. Brome is practically the only character Felldoh likes being around, and he practically says that he wishes they'd grown up together. To top it off, Brome actually gets a line (though he means it negatively) that flat-out compares their relationship to Rose and Martin's.

* Brome and Felldoh is practically ''canon.'' Brome is completely in awe of Felldoh, obsessed with everything he does, and is always there for him even as Felldoh's behavior becomes more unsettling. He goes from fantasizing about being badass alongside Felldoh to devastated that Felldoh isn't the perfect hero he idealized him as. Then, when he realizes Felldoh is about to fight Badrang alone, and will likely be killed, Brome suddenly wishes he were there alongside him, which would likely mean his own death as well, suggesting he would rather die with Felldoh than live without him. On his side, Felldoh is amazingly understanding of Brome even when being called out by him, and Brome's stories about Noonvale move the normally stoic Felldoh to tears. Brome is practically the only character Felldoh likes being around, and he practically says that he wishes they'd grown up together. Oh, and we have this line from Brome for bonus points: "If Martin is a warrior like Felldoh, then may the seasons help my sister Rose if she is still with him!" That's right, he's flat-out comparing his and Felldoh's relationship to Rose and Martin's.
