* Years before ''Series/HouseOfTheDragon'' got greenlit, Joffrey casually [[Recap/GameOfThronesS3E4AndNowHisWatchIsEnded discussed the eventual fate of Rhanenyra Targaryen]] on a tour through the Sept of Baelor. actor trivia

* There was a long standing rumor that Creator/AnnaPopplewell of ''Film/TheChroniclesOfNarnia'' turned down a role in the series. Creator/GeorgieHenley - who played her sister in ''Narnia'' (Anna as Susan, Georgie as Lucy) - was one of the first cast members announced for the prequel series.
* Creator/JamieCampbellBower likewise headlined ''{{Series/Camelot}}'' - which was a short-lived series applying ''Game of Thrones'''s tone to the Arthurian mythos. He too was one of the first cast members announced for the prequel.
* Tyrion asking Joffrey if he "killed any puppies today" is ironically funny when you see this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn9RwNlObHc video of Jack Gleeson cuddling with a puppy.]]

* The Dohtraki being infamously sea sick becomes this following Creator/JasonMomoa's casting as ComicBook/{{Aquaman}} in the ''Franchise/DCExtendedUniverse''.

* Creator/MichelleFairley went on to play another mother of a red-haired girl in ''Series/TwentyFourLiveAnotherDay''... and this time she also happens to be the BigBad, whose motivation is her husband's death, among other similarities. She followed this with a role on ''Series/{{Resurrection}}'' as a woman who comes back from the dead and despises her daughter-in-law for ruining her family.
* One of the reasons Talisa was such an unpopular character (besides the changes made from her book counterpart) was the sense that she didn't quite fit into the tone of the show, with more than one reviewer describing her as a field nurse that had stepped out of WWII. Actress Creator/OonaChaplin now stars in ''The Crimson Field'' -- in which she plays a WWII field nurse.

* In the 2015 ''[[Film/{{Cinderella2015}} Cinderella]]'' movie Richard Madden (Robb Stark) plays the prince, falling in love with a beautiful, strong-willed girl who came from wealth but is not a political match for him.

* In "The Laws Of Gods And Men", Tywin is eager to have Tyrion sentenced to death. One year later, Creator/CharlesDance portrayed HangingJudge Wargrave in the BBC adaptation of ''Literature/AndThenThereWereNone''.

* The Japanese dub of the show has some incidences of this:
** Eddard Stark is voiced by Hideaki Tezuka who also voice [[Manga/{{Naruto}} A, The Fourth Raikage]]: [[spoiler: A loses an arm due to Sasuke's Amaterasu technique. On the other hand, Eddard Stark ends his days by losing ''[[OffWithHisHead his head.]]'']]
** A meta-example happens with Creator/NobunagaShimazaki (Joffrey Baratheon): Assuming it was a not a coincidence, it's not very hard to see why he was cast as [[TheCaligula Joffrey]], taking into account he shares the same name of [[UsefulNotes/OdaNobunaga a (in)famous daimyo of the Sengoku-era Japan]] or at least how many people [[DemonKingNobunaga see him in media]]. Extra hilarity Oda Nobunaga was nicknamed "The Fool of Owari" in his younger days. Even more extra hilarity: A few years later, he ended up voicing his historical namesake ''twice'', first in a mobile game named ''Soul Sacrifice Zero'' and finally in ''VideoGame/SamuraiWarriors'' 5.
** In a more straight example involving the aforementioned voice actor, Shimazaki voiced [[VideoGame/FireEmblemFates the Male Avatar (aka Corrin/Kamui)]] who is a noble prince who, depending of the actions of the player, [[spoiler:can become into TheGoodKing]]. Tell that to ''Joffrey'' again, dudes. This also becomes ironically hilarious after the Male Avatar [[spoiler:has a child and that child is attacked by invaders, forcing the Avatar to act in a way that it could sound not too out-of-place for Joffrey, except the Avatar is the ''hero'' of the game]].
** The end of the show brings a bigger one on regards of [[spoiler:Creator/JunFukuyama's]] role as the dub voice of [[spoiler:Bran]], taking into consideration his StarMakingRole as [[spoiler:[[Anime/CodeGeass Lelouch Lamperouge aka Lelouch vi Britannia]]]] at the very end of the second season: In the aforementioned show, [[spoiler:Lelouch became the emperor of Britannia and plans to conquer the world, just like Daenerys planned to do, with the help of a WeaponOfMassDestruction (In ''Code Geass'' with the Sword of Damocles and the F.L.E.I.J.A. warhead and in ''Game of Thrones'' with a dragon) and both Lelouch and Daenerys ended being killed by their closest allies (Suzaku Kururugi and Jon Snow respectively) in similar ways (being stabbed)]]. The main difference here is [[spoiler:while there's two cities destroyed by the F.L.E.I.J.A. in the series, mainly Tokyo and Pendragon, the capital city of Britannia, Lelouch wasn't involved in their destruction, as the former was destroyed accidentally by Suzaku and the latter was nuked by his brother Schneizel el Britannia in an attempt to assure his authority, compared with King's Landing, when Daenerys orders its destruction without guilt. Also, unlike Lelouch, Bran survives the whole thing and became the ruler of Westeros]]. To make the irony even sweeter, [[spoiler:Bran's role is very similar to Lelouch's sister Nunnally, who, just like Bran, she is also crippled and she became the empress of Britannia after her brother was killed]].
** In a similar way, Creator/ToshiyukiMorikawa's role as Tyrion could be this considering his debut role as the titular [[spoiler:Anime/TekkamanBlade]] and how both shows ends: [[spoiler:[[PersonOfMassDestruction Blade aka Takaya Aiba]] has a ChestBlaster weapon named Voltekka, which, after few upgrades, is capable of leveling cities with it. In this show, Tyrion has to stop a person who destroyed a city with a FantasticNuke, in this case a dragon. Also, Takaya ends crippled by the end of the series, compared here, when Tyrion ends serving a crippled ruler instead]]. In another role involving him, he also voiced [[spoiler:[[Manga/{{Naruto}} Minato Namikaze]]]] who was killed by [[spoiler:a guy (Madara Uchiha) using a giant monster (The Nine-tailed Fox aka Kurama) while also destroyed a town with it (Konoha) as a result of a giant GOT-style clusterfuck of conspiracies dating back centuries, just to [[BackFromTheDead returning from the dead]] just to help his son Naruto to finish that same guy in the final battle against Madara]].
** Creator/NobunagaShimazaki and Creator/YuumaUchida, who voice the polar opposite brothers Joffrey and Tommen Baratheon, again play polar opposite roles, but as cousins in the 2019 version of Manga/FruitsBasket. And what's funnier, is that their personalities are swapped. However, Kyo at least keeps his temper in check and is a tsundere, while Joffrey is a maniac with no redeemable qualities. And Yuki, just like Tommen, [[spoiler: craves affection he never received from his mother. However, Yuki at least finds it through Tohru.]] You could also say that Tommen, a KindheartedCatLover, is not just another one in the anime, but also transforms into a cat, and can attract them. Tommen would have loved that instead of having to deal with the problems of running the Seven Kingdoms.
* In this show, Creator/CharlesDance plays badass general Tywin and Lena Headey is the increasingly ineffectual Cersei. Contrast to ''Literature/PrideAndPrejudiceAndZombies'', where Dance is the milquetoast Mr. Bennet and Headey is the badass LadyOfWar Catherine De Bourghe.

* Just a few months after Rickon was [[spoiler:killed by an arrow]], Creator/ArtParkinson played the title role in ''WesternAnimation/KuboAndTheTwoStrings'', where [[spoiler:his life is ''saved'' by an arrow.]]
** [[spoiler: Kubo loses his parents shortly after reuniting with them; when Rickon is about to be reunited with his brother Jon, [[BigBrotherInstinct who rushes forward to rescue Rickon]] as Rickon runs to him, Rickon is shot by an arrow just when they are about to reach each other]]. As for the books, [[spoiler: Kubo's mom is "resurrected" and but she hides behind a disguise and has a different, "harder" personality; Rickon's mom is resurrected but she is changed, disguised, and completely focused on revenge]].
* In ''Series/{{Iron Fist|2017}}'', the actors for [[Creator/FinnJones Loras]] and [[Creator/JessicaHenwick Nymeria]] team up with a character named Davos.

* In the Season 7 premiere, David Bradley returns to play Arya disguised as Walder Frey. Shortly before, he was cast as the First Doctor on ''Series/DoctorWho'' after playing his actor William Hartnell in a TV movie about the show's creation. The very same day the episode aired, it was announced that the Doctor's next incarnation would be a woman.

* In ''Film/BohemianRhapsody'', Creator/AidanGillen plays a genuinely {{nice guy}} who gets screwed over by a sleazy manipulator in what may be a deliberate CastingGag.
** This got even better just a few months later when ''Film/Rocketman2019'' portrayed the same guy as being very Littlefinger-esque himself, this time played by Richard Madden. Yep, Littlefinger and Robb Stark completely swapped personalities for this role.
* Theon making disparaging remarks about Ramsey playing a musical instrument (in this case horn) when Creator/IwanRheon was cast as rock legend and guitarist Mick Mars in the Music/MotleyCrue {{biopic}} ''Film/TheDirt''.

* The climactic battle of the entire series winds up being about [[Film/TerminatorGenisys Sarah Connor]] vs. [[Series/TheSarahConnorChronicles Sarah Connor]].
* [[Film/TheBrothersGrimm Not the first time]] the [[Creator/JonathanPryce High Sparrow]] meddled with [[Creator/LenaHeadey Cersei's]] plan.
* Creator/PeterDinklage is actually related to the German noble family Dincklage.
* Remember Robb Stark's last words to Jon Snow? "The next time I see you, you'll be all in black." Richard Madden and Kit Harrington will reunite in Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse's ''Film/{{Eternals}}'' where Kit will portray Dane Whitman, a.k.a. the '''Black''' Knight.
** Plus, the Black Knight's love interest is named Sersi, pronounced similarly to Cersei.
* Lena Headey's very next role after the show ended was in ''Series/TheDarkCrystalAgeOfResistance'', where she rebels ''against'' a very Cersei-like character.
* A frequent comment was that Creator/JonathanPryce's performance as the High Sparrow was very similar to [[UsefulNotes/ThePope Pope Francis]] (their uncanny resemblance has been pointed out for years also). In 2019, he actually [[Film/TheTwoPopes played Pope Francis]].

* Mark Addy (Robert Baratheon) and Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) would voice husband and wife in ''VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft: Battle for Azeroth''. Also, an ActionGirl serving House Proudmoore, Taelia Fordragon, is voiced by Ellie Kendrick (Meera Reed).
* Seeing Sandor in Beyond the Wall while getting annoyed with Tormund the wildling is quite amusing as Creator/RoryMcCann would portray a wildling-esque (albeit more brutal and RapePillageAndBurn version) warlord in ''Film/JumanjiTheNextLevel'' and his character's faction is stationed in a GrimUpNorth fortress.
* Tyrion's remark to Oberyn Martell: "you could at least wear a helmet". Creator/PedroPascal went on to play the titular role in ''Series/TheMandalorian'', a character who's religiously obligated to ''never'' take off his helmet around other living beings. Pascal lampshaded this irony on Instagram, by sharing a ''Mandalorian'' poster with the caption, "Helmet ON! Lesson learned." [[spoiler:And sure enough, wearing a helmet saves Din from suffering the same fate as Oberyn when a [[EliteMooks Dark Trooper]] repeatedly punches him in the head with enough force to leave dents in a wall in the Season 2 finale.]]
** His “that’s not a monster, that’s just a baby” speech also becomes funnier by the end of ''The Mandalorian'' Chapter 1, when Mando's 50 year-old bounty surprises him by revealing himself as [[OlderThanTheyLook a baby of Yoda's species]].
** Season 2 sees Mando engage in several spear fights, but fortunately, he keeps a helmet on for them. It looks like Pedro Pascal and/or [[Creator/LateefCrowder his stunt double]] really did learn from Oberyn's mistakes.
* In ''Film/NineteenSeventeen'' Tommen and Robb are brothers, [[spoiler:though unfortunately they don't ever actually appear together]].
* Robert's "Gods, I was strong then" quote becomes this with Mark Addy getting cast as Hercules in ''Series/{{Atlantis}}''. You don't get much stronger than that.
* This wouldn't be the last time that Peter Dinklage played a character with the state of his nose significantly different than in the source material, as he took the lead role in a musical adaptation of ''Theatre/CyranoDeBergerac'', with his height swapped in for Cyrano's typical huge nose.

* [[Recap/GameOfThronesS7E6BeyondTheWall "Beyond the Wall"]] sees Tormund Giantsbane fighting a White Walker bear, along with Jon, Sandor, Beric, Thoros, and several [[RedShirt Red Shirts]]. Creator/KristoferHivju would end up encountering ''another'' ferocious bear [[Film/CocaineBear six years later]].
