* In "Foe: Pa", Arthur's usual antics nearly costs Carrie a career opportunity. Carrie, understandably livid, gives him a scathing CallingTheOldManOut speech which causes him to leave home and refuse to return until he can SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong. Doug and Hollie team up to help him out by pretending his cellphone is capable of calling into the past which would allow Arthur to fix all the wrongs he inflicted on people throughout Carrie's life. This culminates in Carrie inadvertently taking on the last call in the role of an old school teacher, to whom Arthur gives a long speech about how much he truly loves Carrie and deeply regrets being the one who hurt her the most after everything. Carrie is left speechless and teary-eyed. Then Arthur comically ruins the moment by being a DirtyOldMan.

* Paternal Affairs: Doug actually standing up for Arthur.

* Paternal Affairs: For the whole episode, Doug actually standing up for Arthur.
didn't want Arthur dating his aunt because he didn't want her getting hurt, but in the end he realizes that it's Arthur himself who will get hurt. The heartwarming part being that Doug is ''not'' okay with this, and tries to prevent that from happening.

* The plot of "Acting Out" has Doug and Carrie decide to put Arthur in a retirement community after he sets fire to the basement. The final scene of the episode shows Doug walking into the newly renovated basement he always wanted, and Carrie first acting excited but finally breaking down that she misses Arthur and wants to bring him home. Doug is completely silent during the scene which ends with Arthur walking down the stairs, revealing that Doug brought Arthur home from the retirement community on his own. This is made all the more touching when you recall that this was written to be the final scene of the series before a 9th season was decided on, bringing the show full circle from the pilot.

* In "Flower Power" Doug spends the episode trying to do romantic things for Carrie like he used to back when they first started going out, but it doesn't work out so well. Carrie then tells him that she just wants him to do little things and because HE wants to do them, not because she guilt-tripped him into doing so. We then cut to the two of them lying next to each other on the couch and kissing each other adorably.
