* The way that Maurice's teacher gives him "the talk" on the beach, while hilariously awkward, is also very sweet. It's like he's telling him about something wonderful that's in store for him rather than anything dirty or shameful, so it's too bad that despite his fatherly intentions he can't account for the fact that Maurice will grow up to love in a way that doesn't fit society's morals.
