* In ''ComicBook/IronMan'' #222, Tony Stark was stressed out and wanted to take a break by having his housewarming party. He was running late at work and decided to use his armor. On the way there, he saved a trapped truck driver when his truck was on fire, he flew a woman in labor to a hospital, saved an actor and his home from a mud slime, and saved a girl's cat from a tree. He finally made it to the party only to find out that it is almost over. He then helps an aspiring actress get a gig in ''Literature/TheColorPurple.'' After the party, he tells Rhodey that, despite missing most of the party, he is glad that helped all those people...but next time he'll take a cab.

!!''Film/IronMan3''
* One in just the ''trailer'':
-->'''Tony''': I hope I can protect [''gestures to Pepper''] the one thing I can't live without.
** The actual movie reveals just how far he'll go; [[spoiler:when the missile attack starts, Tony puts ''Pepper'' in the suit rather than himself.]]
* [[spoiler: When Pepper is standing in the wreckage of what was formerly Tony's house after it had basically been exploded, she's holding the helmet of one of the many, MANY Iron Man suits. She's pressing it against her face in a call back to a previous moment between her and Tony, when she hears... beeping? Turning it over, she finds a red flashing light and, realizing this means the helmet had some charge to it, puts it over her head to hear a voice-mail Tony had left telling her he's completely fine and he's sorry for putting her in danger.]]
** [[spoiler: She's clearly not listening, just the knowledge that he's alive is all she needs right now And all that matters.]]
* For all the grief that was given throughout all 3 movies, the end of the movie shows that Tony had one piece of equipment salvaged from the ruins of his house: [[RobotBuddy Dummy]].
* The Stinger reveals that Tony's narration of the film is actually him talking to [[spoiler: Bruce Banner. Their friendship from The Avengers is not forgotten.]]

!!!''Film/IronMan''
* Tony Stark upgrades the arc reactor keeping his heart beating and instructs Pepper Potts to junk the old one, stating that he's not a sentimental man. However, instead of throwing it away, Potts turns the old reactor into a trophy with the words "Proof that Tony Stark has a heart." inscribed in it.
** Also extremely lucky for Tony that Pepper decided to save the old reactor, as [[spoiler:if she hadn't, then Tony would have died because Stane stole his current one.]]
** Also doubles as a CrowningMomentOfFunny.
* Stark is regularly seen ridiculing a particular AI-controlled robotic assistant, often unsatisfied with its work and at one point threatening to donate it to a city college. However, when a dying Stark tries to reach for [[ChekhovsGun the old arc generator Potts saved for him]], "Dummy" loyally grabs it for him and hands it over. The following shot of the robot makes it look almost like a concerned face. As Stark reaches for it, he whispers "good boy". Cue the sympathetic "Aaawwwwww" from the crowd.
** The photos of Tony as a child show that a robotic arm was the first AI he ever built. If the arm itself is "Dummy", (we have no reason to doubt otherwise), then despite how much he belittles it, he still has kept it all these years.
* Earlier in the film, when Tony is picked up in the desert after his escape, when Rhodes rushes out of the chopper, hugs him, and says: "Next time, you ride with me, okay?"
** It's really the body language that does it - Rhodes kneels down in front of him and Tony just sort of slumps on his shoulder. It's quite clearly the first time in months that he's let himself relax.
** Also, when Tony arrives back in the states and reunites with Pepper he notes that she's crying tears of joy. [[DeadpanSnarker The fact that they both snark about it does nothing to diminish the moment.]]
* The moment where Pepper and Tony are laughing in relief after Pepper manages to switch the arc generator from the old one to the new one without causing any serious damage. She asks Tony not to ask her to do that again. Suddenly, and surprisingly earnest, Tony says "But I don't have anyone but you." It could so easily have been sappy, but then Tony pulls an embarrassed "Oh my God, I can't believe I just said that" face which, oddly enough, makes it even more heartwarming. In fact, with this movie it seems that when it's not being [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome jaw-droppingly awesome]] it's being genuinely heartwarming instead.
** "You're all I have too, you know."
* The friendship that develops between Yinsen and Tony [[spoiler: in spite of the fact that it ends with a TearJerker]].
-->'''Tony''': C'mon Yinsen, [[spoiler: time to see your family]]...
-->'''Yinsen''': [[spoiler: They're dead, Stark. [[TogetherInDeath I'm going to see them now]]]]...
-->'''Tony''': ...Thank you for saving me.
-->'''Yinsen''': [[spoiler: Don't waste it. Don't waste your life]].
* Tony (and in only his second battle as Iron Man, no less) saving a group of refugees from the Ten Rings, particularly arriving just in time to save a father from being killed in front of his family.
** Doubly so when the little boy runs up to hug his father. A small moment in the grand-scheme of the overall ass-kicking, but definitely heartwarming.
* Heck, Tony's entire development in the beginning half of the movie, showing us that despite being an irresponsible, womanizing InsufferableGenius, he hates to see people make sacrifices for his own sake and wants to do all he can to prevent any needless fatalities he may indirectly cause. It rings all the more true after what happened to Yinsen and the convoy at the film's start.
** Tony's TranquilFury while watching the people from Yinsen's hometown suffer and die on CNN, culminated by him shattering a wall in silent-rage, shows us truly for the first time that there beats a compassionate heart behind all that ice-cold sarcasm.
*** It's not just a wall: it's a ''glass'' wall, and he isn't shattering the glass, he's shattering his ''reflection''.
* When Rhodey comes in and finds Tony on the floor of the workshop, the first thing he says after a near-death experience, almost completely out of breath is: "Pepper! Where's Pepper?"
** Also earlier in the movie when [[spoiler: Stane takes the arc reactor]]; the utter terror in Tony's eyes when he tells him Pepper is next on his hit list. Really, Pepper and Tony's entire relationship is one giant CMOH crossing over with a frequent CMOF.
* Listen close: there are two instances where you can just barely hear Pepper's voice calling Tony's name. The first is when the Ten Rings are dunking Tony's head in a barrel full of water. The second is after the [[spoiler:battle with Stane. Tony's arc reactor is barely flickering, and then we hear Pepper's voice.]]
* After falling out of the jeep and into the middle of an intense firefight, the first thing Tony does is to start furiously dialing his phone. Since he's interrupted by the bomb before he can finish, the audience never finds out ''who'' he was trying to call? [[TrueCompanions Rhodey or Pepper?]]
** Probably Rhodey, since he was also in Afghanistan, and not far from where Tony was. ...''but still''...

!!!''Iron Man 2''
* Tony complains about the ParentalAbandonment issues he had with his father, which makes Howard Stark's recording admitting that Tony was his greatest creation into such a powerful TearJerker. That and the outtakes of the recording, which acts as a posthumous LikeFatherLikeSon moment as we see the elder Stark was a lot like Tony.
* This one takes a bit of FridgeLogic. After Rhodey [[spoiler: steals the Mark II Iron Man suit]], Romanov mentions that Tony's security system is designed to prevent unauthorized use of the suits. Thought it's never said explicitly, it's implied that Tony had been planning to make Rhodes into the next Iron Man [[spoiler: after he died.]]
* Tony is [[strike: running]] flying for his life [[spoiler: from his best friend in another suit of armor that has been commandeered by the bad guy]]. The Expo is being evacuated because of the drones attacking. One brave little boy in an Iron Man mask and repulsor toy puts his hand up to fire at the drone. The drone mistakes the kid for Tony and takes aim as well. Then Tony lands, takes out the drone with his repulsor, then looks at the little boy, says "Nice work, kid," and goes back to being chased.
* Borrowed from the WMG page: despite everything that happened between them afterwards, it is still fairly moving to realize that Howard Stark may well have named his son, Anthony, after his former partner, Anton.
* Turns out the [[spoiler: drones]] have been set to explode after the final battle. Tony himself is surrounded, but what is the first thing to come out of his mouth?
-->'''Tony''': Pepper!
-->'''flies off to save her'''
* As of the senate hearing, Tony has made the peace sign [[IronicEcho his signature]], like that soldier who wanted to take a picture with him in the first movie. The general idea was that he'd privatized world peace, but more subtly, [[FridgeBrilliance it was his tribute to the men and woman whose deaths opened his eyes to what his company was really doing.]]
* Tony's pitiful attempt at making an in-flight meal for Pepper after the Monaco attack. As he put it later, [[spoiler: he'd been planning to make her an omelet and tell her that he was dying. And like with the strawberries, the omelet was a clumsy, failed attempt to make her feel better. It took him three hours to make, and he never even really got any credit for trying.]]
