** While there can still be some debates on the topic of Gaz's overall character, this issue does hammer in an important note Jhonen had intended for her; she is certainly not the nicest person by a ''long'' shot (proven by the beginning and ending of the comic), but she will never go as far as to let Dib die despite how much she is annoyed by him.

* Being a fan of BigBrotherInstinct, this troper found Dib's ''mercilessly'' one-sided compassion for his sister in "Gaz, Taster of Pork" almost unnaturally endearing, considering how the show usually is. Not only did he go to incredible lengths to help her remove the curse, but he was also literally ''begging'' Shadow Hog to take the "punishment" for "failing" the trial on himself instead of her ''and'' fighting tooth-and-nail to get inside the fortress to help her. I mean, sure, part of it was to save his own skin after she threatened him, but it's clear the safety and well-being of his sister was his first priority.

After Gir strands the two of them by replacing his guidance chip with a cupcake, Zim stars screaming at him... until he sees poor Gir in tears and, in a brief moment of humility, realizes that getting mad at him won't solve their problem and accepts his apology. ** Indeed, Jhonen Vasquez himself found Dib's immediate family to be a little ''too'' cruel to be funny, and wanted to make them just a little bit nicer in the comics so the cruelty would be funnier.
