** In ''Wild Magic'' Daine feels that it's shameful for her to be both a bastard and the daughter of a hedge-witch. Maybe it just depends on the region.

** The Graveyard Hag didn't like Daine talking about her and might not have wanted her involvement brought up, or Daine might not have wanted to get her attention again. Maybe the feathers aren't always as easily used to turn someone and it's normally a longer process.

** ''Maybe'' if he'd asked it the current King would have given him a title, but the conspirators offered him a higher position that seemed more sure.

** Gods also seem to meddle slightly in this universe quite often. Maybe it's regarded casually enough that there isn't any expectation of angering Beka's patron, especially since the Black God doesn't seem to be vengeful.

* In ''Emperor Mage'', did Ozorne ''know'' Rikash's feather would turn him into a Stormwing? When it's presented to him, Rikash says "If ever you are in peril of life and throne, take this feather and thrust it into your flesh. When it mixes with your blood, you will fly from your enemies as if winged with steel, and escape beyond the Black God's reach for all time." Immediately after his transformation, Barzha says he'll [[PayEvilUntoEvil face justice at her claws]] and he's horrified, but when told he no longer has his magic he's quick to say he has Stormwing magic. The feather appears when Rikash strikes a deal with the Graveyard Hag which suggests that it's specifically magicked by the goddess to have this effect. But, published decades later in ''Literature/TortallASpysGuide'', Daine says that ''any'' shed Stormwing feather can turn a human into a Stormwing. Rikash also mentioned that "most humans" who transform into Stormwings find it liberating - did they use feathers too?
** Does this have anything to do with the soft spot Stormwings have for neglected children? Are ''they'' ever turned into Stormwings? Stormwing feathers are used to make MageKiller arrows, so there are quite a few of these feathers about, too.

* In ''Trickster's Choice'', it's mentioned a few times that Prince Hazarin and Prince Bronau are good friends, and that Hazarin promised Bronau that should he ascend the throne, he will grant Bronau lands and titles. In fact, Bronau leaves Tanair because when Hazarin takes the throne, he wants Bronau there. But for some reason, despite ruling for at least a couple of weeks, Hazarin never follows through on his promise. Since his failure to do so is the reason that Bronau had to resort to the 'marry Sarai and become king' plan in order to pay off his debts, you'd think there'd be some kind of explanation in the book as to why Hazarin didn't fulfil his promise.

* In ''Mastiff'', Tunstall has his reasons to turn on Beka and commit treason. They could have been better telegraphed and emphasized to be sure, but he ''is'' getting older and losing the physical ability that's been his livelihood while also feeling the massive difference in social station between himself, a "hill barbarian", and Lady Sabine. All right. But why did he decide to keep on this course and betray Beka ''after'' the Black God intervened on her behalf so she wouldn't have to leave people dead on the road? Surely the God's favor would mean something. And defeating the cabal and bringing the young prince back safe would have seen him handsomely rewarded by the Crown, able to retire comfortably.

** Thom is explicitly an InsufferableGenius who is NotGoodWithPeople. Being taunted by Delia, told that he couldn't possibly do that, he'd have to be ''the best'' at magic to succeed, makes perfect sense as a motivation. Smart he may be, but he is terrible at reading people.

** None of it was initially her choice. Kyprioth brought her to the Isles so she could help play her part in a prophecy she knew nothing about- who's going to argue against a trickster?
