* The girls have a tendency to cause a lot of collateral damage while fighting crime--an episode in which they move to another city has its mayor call them out on blowing up a bridge (which will cost millions of dollars to fix) just to catch two bank robbers--but nobody in Townsville seems to complain about this. Why? Well, "Mommy Fearest" shows them cleaning their bedroom in just a couple of seconds, and "Paste Makes Waste" ends with them patching up the city, so it's possible they speed-clean any places/buildings/doors/etc. they damage after each battle is over.

** Yeah, the girls do follow a code of retributive physical justice against criminals within the series that actually evolves and grows over the course of the series. They learn about intent, and become more lenient and understanding towards criminals who commit crimes under duress and/or sympathetically motivated. While I’ll always love the series, though, one of the problems with the writing was that they didn’t always address it as wrong in the narrative when physical retributive justice against criminals turned into needless cruelty, and even framed it as justified at times in the narrative, such as in episodes like “Slave The Day,” “Moral Decay,” and “Mime for a Change.”

** It might boil down to the nature of the objects in question. Octi is a toy based on an animal, with a face and body and all. Bubbles can play pretend he's her little friend who keeps her safe and comfortable, and talk to him like he's talking back. Blankie, on the other hand, is a rectangle of fabric--you can't even pretend it's a creature/person, so the attachment of "this looks like a friendly little creature" isn't there. It's like if you said you loved your old dog and couldn't live without him, then someone else said the same thing about a napkin they carried around in their pocket. They might get the attachment, but to you it's just weird.

* On that same note, while it is a funny and fitting enough punishment in the immediate moment, how literal should we take the "Permanent Naughty List" proclamation? If the show didn't go by NotAllowedToGrowUp rules, then eventually Princess would most likely grow out of her bratty attitude. (Sure, it's not guaranteed, but it is easy to imagine.) Knowing this, would it be more so that Santa is putting her on the 'permanent naughty list' symbolically?

** It's also implied that Mike B. Leeve (the kid in question) didn't invent Patches (the jester) himself--rather, he's on the playground, looks up in surprise, and asks "Who said my name?" I took that to mean that Patches was some kind of invisible spirit (originally birthed from someone else's imagination) who latched onto Mike because he was lonely and already quite imaginative. Mike later says that he tried to make Patches be good, which ties into the "lost control" theory.
