Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* In The Wicked, during the Sound of Music parody scene, one of Mrs. Robinson's KickTheDog actions is to spray a speed limit sign marked 30 with spray paint, changing the 3 to an 8... and then adding another 0 at the end, causing two cars to crash into each other. The gag itself is hilarious (if a bit cruel), but it doesn't make sense when you think about it. For one thing, what kind of driver would actually believe that the speed limit in a neighborhood area is 80 mph/kph, much less 800? It's also pretty implausible that both drivers saw the sign at the same time (and especially without seeing Mrs. Robinson change it) and managed to get up to that speed, all without seeing each other. Not to mention that most cars couldn't go nearly that fast, whether 800 is in mph or kph. In the show, it can simply be chalked up to RuleOfFunny, but it's very unlikely that this would work in real life. (Not that you'd want it to, of course! A high speed collision like that would be much more horrific in real life, so DontTryThisAtHome.)

* How come Miss Simian is able to roast people very well throughout the show, yet the only name she used for Nicole was "loser"? I mean, seriously? LOSER? That's hardly even an insult. I mean, it's still an insult, but it's not a very good one. Nicole also seems to be bad about it. She can't even handle the word even though it's not even that big of an insult.

** As the seasons go on, this question becomes more and more intriguing. At first it seemed it was that every generation was the opposite gender, since Richard's mother is a pink rabbit but his father is a rat, so his family was Female-Male-Female, while there was Nicole and Gumball on the other side. But then we learned Nicole's mother is also a blue cat, so it's Female-Female-Male on their side. Though given her father is also a breed of cat, we don't know if that changes anything or not.

** This troper knows someone like that. He got held back a couple of times, but eventually the school just let him move up to the next grade anyway because they realised it was going nowhere and no amount of holding back is going to fix his grades, so it's just better to let him graduate and try to find a job instead of wasting time on academics.

* How exactly is the show managing to retain it's TV-Y7 rating? With some of the stuff they get away with on the show (such as the entire episode "The Recipe"), you'd think that it would have been raised to TV-PG along with the majority of the other current CN shows. Not that I'm a stickler for content, but it's still strange
** The simplest answer seems to be laziness: they don't want to bother deciding ratings on a by-episode basis or considering if the rating for the whole show should be raised after it started already. One show being rated TV-Y7 when it should be TV-PG doesn't elected that much controversy when other shows in the same block are already TV-PG.
** Another possible reason is that, since Gumball is produced by a different studio than most CN shows:Cartoon Network Development Studio Europe instead of Cartoon Network Studios, it has a different Standards and Practices department that approves content and assigns ratings. For instance, in "The Hero", Richard says "you're digging your claws into my nipples", even though Adventure Time wasn't allowed to use the word "nipple". This would also explain how that scene from "The Skull" was completed before being cut from the US broadcast.
** The show gets away with a lot more because a lot of the characters aren't humans. Presumably if you were to re-do "The Recipe" but instead it's with people, CN would immediately pull it off the air.
