** While he did indeed escape, he struggled a lot and it was risky. He had to crawl outside the tank (as you know, fish can't survive long without water and are not made to move on the surface) and humans are hard to escape from. If he didn't have swallowed the toy sword, he would've been caught again. It's also possible that the humans won't keep any tanks outside anymore so that fish won't be able to escape again.
