** It's mentioned that it's a requirement to announce discards. How that allows him to do the other things he pulls off is a different question, but for him to play a legal game of mahjong isn't really impossible as long as he's keeping track of where the wall is and where his discard pile is. I'm assuming players give him his calls directly into his hand, as well.

* How is Ichikawa out of all people able to play Mahjong? He's blind, so much so that he only would shoot Akagi in the russian roulette by putting the gun in Akagi's mouth to be sure he hits; a statement Ichikawa himself said. Yet, in the mahjong game he plays like a normal person - a feat which should be impossible. Even if Ichikawa knows his own tiles by feeling them, Mahjong requires one to know the opponents discards to make/prevent rons. And nobody bothered to tell him what exactly was discarded either

* At the start of the Fake Akagi arc, the boss of the Kawada group says Ishikawa is the only one in the group who has seen the real Akagi before. But didn't Akagi meet other members of the Kawada group (Ryuuzaki, Yagi, Kurosaki) six years ago? Did they all die or leave the group in only 6 years?
