* From ''VideoGame/FireEmblemPathOfRadiance'', [[PsychoForHire Schaeffer]] stands out as particularly heinous for a one-off boss character. His introductory scene shows him threatening Tomenami with the execution of his clergy for not going along with his plan, and when he is confronted by the Greil Mercenaries, he forces Tomenami's companions to act as {{Human Shield}}s for his own band of fighters despite most of them being unable to fight themselves. Getting to him without accidentally killing the priests requires precise movements, and even upon killing Schaeffer, he laments that he ought to have [[WouldHurtAChild brought babies along to defend himself from Ike's group.]]

It was talked about and Validar doesn't fit.

* ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening'': This game has the main antagonist faction, the Grimeal, who are consistently shown as scumbags.
** [[EvilSorcerer Validar]], who together with [[TheCaligula Mad King Gangrel]] and [[TinTyrant Walhart]] TheConqueror serves as [[DiscOneFinalBoss one of the primary antagonists fought before]] the FinalBoss. Though he initially seems like an inconsequential VillainOfTheWeek, it's gradually revealed that he's much more than that. The game gradually reveals him as the leader of the Grimleal, an [[ApocalypseCult apocalyptic]] [[ReligionOfEvil death cult]], and that Validar is manipulating the entire world as part of a scheme to bring about the end of the world in the name of his master, the Fell Dragon Grima. Such is his dedication to this senseless nihilism that he was willing to offer up ''[[AbusiveParents his own child]]'' as a potential vessel to resurrect his master. Presented at face value without Gangrel's [[LaughablyEvil entertainment value]] or Walhart's [[NobleDemon nobility]], Validar becomes one of your most satisfying potential takedowns when you ''finally'' end him in Chapter 23.
** [[EunuchsAreEvil Excellus]], Tactician of the Valmese Empire. In a faction composed almost entirely of {{Noble Demon}}s, he stands out as a massive SmugSnake who is [[TheFriendNobodyLikes hated and despised by his own faction]] for his dirty tactics and dishonourable conduct. He gleefully reveals at one point that [[spoiler:he blackmailed Prince Yen'fay of Chon'sin to fight for Valm by threatening to kill his sister Say'ri]], which he only does ''after'' [[spoiler:Yen'fay]]'s death so that [[spoiler:Say'ri]] would suffer a HeroicBSOD. When his tactics fail utterly to drive back the Ylissean counter-offensive against Valm, Walhart reveals that he knows Excellus has been [[DragonWithAnAgenda plotting against him]] on behalf of the Grimleal, which he tolerated only because he knew Excellus was too pathetic to pose any threat to him, and forces him onto the frontlines, where he inevitably dies a pitiful death at your hands ([[CatharsisFactor or, if you want to make it more satisfying,]] [[spoiler: [[KarmicDeath Say'ri]]'s hands]]).

** Kotaro, the daimyo of Mokushu and an enemy who's fought on all three paths. Despite Mokushu being a supposed ally of Hoshido, Kotaro was responsible for killing Saizo and Kaze's father, the fourth Saizo, and was also responsible for the destruction of Kohga, forcing Shura to become a criminal in order to survive. Not only does he betray Hoshido for Nohr in pursuit of power, but he isn't even truly loyal to Nohr, either, and uses them as a means to an end, even planning to kill Corrin and their siblings to keep his secrets safe. As a SmugSnake with no redeeming features, he's one of the most despicable characters apart from Hans and Iago, and his role was clearly an attempt by Intelligent Systems to show that not everyone in the comparatively peaceful Hoshido is kind and honorable.

** In the [[DownloadableContent Fell Xenologue]], the royals of Alternate Elyos oppose the protagonists, but most of them are not necessarily bad people, with their more hostile personalities implied to be partly due to [[spoiler:having been revived as Corrupted]], and most of them having bonds with their siblings and retainers. Alternate Ivy, however, is a fanatical worshipper of Alternate Elyos's Sombron, to the point at which she has her father sacrificed when the latter tries to stop the ritual. She is also verbally abusive to the Hortensia of the main Elyos, mistaking her for her Alternate Elyos counterpart, and apparently had all of Alternate Hyacinth's illegitimate children executed. While she appears to care for Kagetsu and Zelkov, the original Japanese script implies that she slept with Kagetsu and was disappointed that Zelkov had refused her, and has no qualms with killing either of their main universe counterparts. However, [[spoiler:not only is Alternate Ivy also influenced by her being a Corrupted(although Rafal claims that she asked him to make her one), but after being defeated in the final map and fatally wounded, she expresses remorse and a desire to apologize to Hortensia, showing that perhaps she had some redeeming qualities]].

At the beginning of ''Radiant Dawn'', he allows Duke Numida and General Jarod to brutally enslave the conquered kingdom Daein and cruelly mistreat and or kill them. He tells Izuka, a man the Mad King Ashnard had as his loyal adviser, to work with him and together they find a young man named Pelleas who appears to be Daein's prince, and manipulate him into signing a blood pact. Lekain also had King Naesala of the raven kingdom of Kilvas sign said pact, tricking both rulers into thinking it was a sign of goodwill. After approving laguz slavery between the various nobles, and the usage of a drug made by Izuka, to turn the laguz into Feral Ones, he murders an ambassador of goodwill which kickstarts a massive war between the Laguz Alliance and Begnion. Using the king of Daein and his nation, as well as Kilvas, he takes this opportunity to attempt to wipe out the Laguz for good. Okay, I'm sorry about this, and yes, I know people agreed in Genealogy's YMMV page and denied the proposal against the CM status, but still the point about Big Bads needing to be obviously despicable enough with absolutely 0 reedeming traits to also have the Hate Sink status. He got overshadowed in the despicability by say, Chagall, Hilda and Victor in the same game. He doesn't even have this trope listed at all ever in the character page. Worse, the game's YMMV page also stated him he's a Love To Hate target.

** Manfroy may also count, as he's responsible for everything bad happening in the game, but he can be a bit of subversion for one thing: [[FreudianExcuse He claims to do his wicked deeds as retaliation for his clan being persecuted for eons, having nothing but an evil God to depend on, and living away from mankind (and unlike many other examples of this excusing, he was actually legit in this).]] [[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse This doesn't absolve him of his crimes and he's designed for players to be absolutely hated for his heinous actions,]] but unlike Hilda and Chagall, Manfroy can be understandable in how he ends up as an evil bastard.

Admittedly, I feel like at first this could be just a downplayed or ultimately subverted example, but after checking how this works: Big Bad examples have to be utterly despicable to the point that their detestable traits completely overshadow the very few (if any) sympathetic traits that they have. As for what Sombron has that could otherwise make his "utterly detestable" traits claim not that absolute: He does have an attempt of a Freudian Excuse in seeking and idolizing the Emblem of Foundations, and even if it's deconstructed, there's a little pathos to his death scene. Ironically, the split personality of Veyle fits the despicable thing better (and she's The Dragon rather than the Big Bad). More information can be found here.

Misuse and contradictory with the actual character tropes listed in the associated character pages. Also confirmed by this in the cleanup thread. More specifically, not only King Hyacinth was influenced by the Big Bad Sombron, but also later after being devoured by him is resurrected as a Corrupted that after being killed (as a mandatory kill) that he didn't actually act abusive to his daughters (that and Hortensia actually feels horrified when he got eaten in Chapter 10).

** King Hyacinth, King of Elusia, is an EvilOverlord who goes against his own kingdom and actively helps in reviving Sombron. In Chapter 9, he leaves his own daughter to die and is shown to be [[AbusiveParents abusive towards his other daughter]]. Hyacinth [[spoiler:kills Morian, drains his blood, and revives him as a Corrupted out of spite. Safe to say, it’s hard to feel bad for him when Sombron swallows him whole.]]

** From the backstory, there's Lima IV. Nobody, not even his surviving children, speak positively about him, and the heroes fight his murderer Desaix not because they want to avenge him, but because Desaix is no better.

** [[BigBadWannabe Duke]] [[SinisterMinister Lekain]] of Gaddos is the Vice Minister of Begnion and an extremely heartless and [[FantasticRacism bigoted]] man. Before the events of both games started, he and a few other Senators murdered Empress Misola of Begnion and blamed the murder on the peace-loving Serenes Forest Heron [[HalfHumanHybrid Laguz]], leading to the people of Begnion [[FinalSolution massacring all but four in a single night]], and bedridding one. After approving laguz slavery between the various nobles, and the usage of a drug made by a partner in crime, Izuka, to turn the laguz into Feral Ones, he murders an ambassador of goodwill which kickstarts a massive war between the Laguz Alliance and Begnion. Using the king of Daein and his nation, as well as Kilvas, he takes this opportunity to attempt to wipe out the Laguz for good. Upon [[GodIsEvil Ashera]] unleashing her divine judgment, he quickly sends fanatics of the goddess to murder the remaining heroes. In short, he's nothing but a despicable, bigoted human.
