* ''Literature/RizzoliIsles'': Detective Jane Rizzoli is jealous and resentful of beautiful women because she's plain-looking. It's cranked up to eleven in the very first book of the series, ''The Surgeon'', where she takes an instant dislike to Dr. Catherine Cordell both because she's beautiful and because her partner Detective Thomas Moore, who she wants for herself, falls in love with her.

* ''Literature/AnitaDeMonteLaughsLast'': Artist Jack Martin claims that nobody would have known who his late wife Anita was if she had not married him, even though she had won plenty of prestigious prizes for her art. After her death [[spoiler: or rather, her murder via DestinationDefenestration]], she comes back as a ghost and even messes with one of his installations, creating shapes suggestive of female anatomy. He is infuriated when the pieces she messes with get "better reviews than [he'd] gotten in ten years."

* The second-lowest part of ''Literature/TheDivineComedy'' Purgatory is reserved for the envious who repented. There, you'll find people like Sapia, who prayed for her enemies to be attacked and rejoiced when they were forced out of her city. As penance, her eyes are blinded as she hears the cautionary tales of [[Literature/BookOfGensis Cain]] and Aglauros, both of whom were jealous of their siblings for their closeness to [[{{God}} the divine]].

* ''Literature/ReignOfTheSevenSpellblades'': In volume 10, we learn that Darius Grenville's motive for his part in the [[RasputinianDeath torturous murder]] of Chloe Halford (including far more AgonyBeam spells than the other conspirators) was jealousy of her natural skill with the blade and anger that she thought current Kimberly Magic Academy swordmaster Luther Garland (his student, her underclassman) was better than him.

* ''Literature/CiaphasCain'': Cain's fellow Commissar Tomas Beije is quickly revealed to be this, especially when he sees Cain casually dismiss a message from the Lord General, getting outraged about it, only for Cain to show him it's just an invitation to dinner and a game of regicide. He's also always been a whiny jackass (among other things, getting enthusiastically tackled at school scrumball games whether he had the ball or not) and getting assigned to the humorless, uptight Tallarn regiment. It culminates in him trying to arrest Cain for desertion when Cain is trying to prevent a daemonic summoning ritual, and all that does is provide additional witnesses to Cain beating said daemon. When Cain goes to trial over the accusation, it quickly turns into a thorough reaming for Beije, and only by Cain's offscreen intervention is he spared the death penalty for his incompetence.
