* Yugiri in ''Anime/ZombieLandSaga'' does this to anyone she thinks needs it, even if they don't. The one time it's needed though, was to Sakura in Episode 12, during her HeroicBSOD.

** In Chapter 127, [[spoiler:Nanamine, with his manga having dropped to 19th out of 20 places, his online helpers having abandoned him and having fired Nakai for causing his helpera to leave]], begins to give up hope, his editor punches him twice, telling him that while he dislikes him, the one thing he admires about him is his determination to succeed, and that he can't give up on him because he's his editor. [[spoiler:Nanamine]] considers [[RealityEnsues suing his editor for assault and/or getting him fired]], but decides against it, as [[PragmaticVillainy if he did, he would essentially become a laughingstock of the manga community]].

*** Serena tries to get Ash to [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness open up about his problems]] when he's {{wangst}}ing in "Seeing the Forest for the Trees!" [[HeroicBSOD after his loss to Wulfric]]. [[RightfortheWrongReasons However]], they ended up [[WhattheHellHero arguing]] and [[{{Determinator}} Serena knocked some sense into Ash by throwing snowballs at him]]. Realizing that Serena was right about his behavior and [[WasTooHardonHim felt guilty for being rough on her]], Ash went off to pull himself together and apologized to her at the end of the episode.

* ''Anime/MaiOtome'': Shizuru does this to get Nina to calm down when she goes hysterical after Sergey is reported missing, then follows with a CooldownHug.
* ''Anime/MaiOtomeZwei'': In the final episode with Arika unable to use the power of the Blue Sky Sapphire after she and Mashiro fell out, Mashiro tells Arika to [[HitMeDammit slap her]]. Arika agrees, but only if Mashiro will slap her back. They do so, and then vow to do the same in the future if one of them gets stubborn.

** When [[TykeBomb Rebecca]] tried to shoot him [[spoiler: the second time]] in Earth Orbital Elevator [[spoiler:(after he trying to save her, no less)]], James furiously snapped at her, [[WorldOfCardboardSpeech verbally crushed her idea about her relationship with his "father",]] with [[GenkiGirl Dolores]] backed up in fear. [[spoiler:Considering that when she tried to shoot her the first time, he disarmed her using a simple psychological trick ("It's not loaded"), this is quite significant.]]

* ''VisualNovel/OretachiNiTsubasaWaNai'': Asuka [[spoiler: brings back Takashi from his AngstComa this way.]] The kicker was that the other three personalities ''take turns'' to get beaten up!

* ''Manga/MahouSenseiNegima'':
** Nodoka, of all people, does this to Yue after the latter nearly has a HeroicBSOD because she thinks she betrayed Nodoka by [[MatchmakerCrush developing a crush on Negi]]. It's the first time in the whole series that Nodoka has done ''anything'' violent.
** Shortly after, Yue does the same to Negi to get him over his {{Wangst}} about the current arc's {{Grey and Gray Morality}}.
** Asuna applies the Bright Slap to Setsuna when she's beginning to flip out and be {{Wangst}}y over having white wings. Asuna also smacks ''Negi'', ''[[PapaWolf of all people]]'', for just giving in into Fate's terms (for his students' safety) rather than to fight for the sake the world.
** In Chapter 265, [[spoiler:Nodoka, Asakura, and ESPECIALLY Chisame to Negi (again) for just giving in to Magia Erebea. Bonus points for Chisame since she was the one who dealt the blow, in [[LittleMissSnarker loli]] form, while telling him to "get a goddamn grip on yourself".]]
** [[spoiler:Chisame]] did it again in Chapter 307, [[spoiler:[[HeroicRROD only that didn't really]] [[PostVictoryCollapse work like before]]]].
** In Chapter 269 in a flashback, [[spoiler:when Nagi stops Arika's HeroicSelfDeprecation and her requests that he leave her to die by [[UseYourHead headbutting her]], giving us a once-in-a-lifetime shot of [[SugarAndIcePersonality Ms. Serious]] as a [[BlankWhiteEyes shocked]] chibi]].
** [[CrazyAwesome Rakan]] gives one of these to Negi to break him out of his SuperPoweredEvilSide, ''[[spoiler: from beyond the grave]]''. Seriously, [[spoiler: Rakan had ''been utterly erased from existence'', but simply willed himeslf into existing again for a bit]] [[CrazyAwesome solely to smack Negi upside the head]].
* ''Anime/MaiHime'':
** Natsuki gives one to Mai in just as she's reliving [[spoiler:the tragedy that killed her mother and nearly did the same for her brother, for which Mai feels responsible]], and tries to get Mai to remember what she's fighting for.
** She does it in [[Manga/MaiHime the last volume of the manga]], too, after [[spoiler:Mai is {{brainwashed}} into [[FaceHeelTurn fighting with the QUEENs]]]]. Rather than simply slapping her, Natsuki opts to use [[MegatonPunch the whole hand]].
** In the manga, Yuuichi tries to do this with Shiho when she is threatening to kill him if he doesn't go with her, and had previously brainwashed Mikoto to attack Mai, arguing that the Shiho he remembers is a better person than this, but given the [[BrainwashedAndCrazy brainwashing effects]] of the Princess Earrings, this doesn't work.

* In Chapter [[spoiler: 32]] of ''Manga/KurokoNoBasuke'', [[spoiler: Kuroko]] snaps [[spoiler: Kagami]] out of his increasingly {{Jerkass}}-ish, "I'll win this on my own" behavior with a punch to the face.

** Kallen applied her ''[[http://i34.tinypic.com/rj45et.jpg Bright Seven Hit Combo]]'' to Suzaku. It ends up making him re-think his past actions and gets him to agree to meet Lelouch to try and work things out. [[FromBadToWorse But this being Code Geass, though...]] Also, it needs to be stated that Kallen didn't plan to slap Suzaku into realization or anything, but only wanted the satisfaction of [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beating him to a pulp]] out of annoyance for not being able to make up his freaking mind about whether he's a good guy or a bad guy. And did so while wearing high heels and a ''fancy gown''.

** Seiya is on the receiving end of this during the Abel movie, being in a depressed funk and a state of utter despair over 1) Athena basically abandoning them 2) Athena getting herself killed by her brother. It takes a particularly violent instance at the hands of Saga acting the part of a TricksterMentor to get him out of it.

* ''Manga/SaintSeiya'': Ikki to his little brother when Shun [[spoiler:became Hades]].

** Deku and Shouto had to talk some sense into Tenya when he was blinded by his own rage towards the Hero Killer, who permanently crippled Tenya's older brother.
** During their fight against All Might, Deku does this to Bakugou when the latter angrily bemoans that he'd rather fail the exam than team up with Deku to fight. Mind, this isn't out of ego-boosting on either one's part-- it's both to save Bakugou from All Might's hold and get him to regroup and think of a way to work around All Might to, if not defeat him, overwhelm him with their combined powers and pass the exam. It works.
** Later, Tenya tries snap Deku out of going to [[spoiler:rescue Bakugou from the League of Villains,]] which is both suicidal and likely to get him expelled from U.A. pointing out that what Deku is trying to do is exactly what he prevented Tenya from doing.

*** Serena tries to get Ash to [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness open up about his problems]] when he's {{wangst}}ing in "Seeing the Forest for the Trees!" after his loss to Wulfric. *** Serena tries to talk some sense into Ash when he's {{wangst}}ing in [=XYZ28=] after his loss to Wulfric. They ended up arguing, and Ash went off for a while to cool down, but he eventually figured out Serena was right, and apologized to her at the end of the episode.

* ''Manga/FullMoonOSagashite'': Early on in the manga, Madoka tells her manager that she wants to quit and forcefully throws clothes into a suitcase, preparing for a trip to have fun, annoyed that someone hacked the results of a competition between her and Fullmoon. When her pet G-chan tries to stop her, she snaps that he's nothing more than a PR Gag... G-chan jumps into the air and slaps Madoka with his little hooves, causing Madoka to break down into tears and hugging him.

** Near the end [[spoiler: Kaname delivers an ''epic'' Get A Hold Of Yourself Man to Sousuke to get him out of his HeroicBSOD, actually knocking him down with a [[DynamicEntry flying kick to the face]], and then hitting him several more times for good measure. Just seeing that she's alive probably would have been enough to restore Sousuke back to normal, but, well, it's [[{{Tsundere}} Kaname]].]]

* ''Manga/PeacemakerKurogane'': After Tetsunosuke nearly gets killed by Yoshida, the man who killed his parents, a second time, he spends an episode or two holding hiding out in a closet freaking out and scratching at people who try to get him to come out. Susumu calls him out on his {{Wangst}}ing and gives him a Get A Hold Of Yourself Man speech, telling him that he's sick of Tetsunosuke's bullshit, and throws him a sword saying that if he can find the courage he should stick to his original goal of killing his parents' murderer.

* ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'': Ryōga performs a Get a Hold Of Yourself Man punch on Ranma when the latter is experiencing {{Heroic BSOD}} [[spoiler:due to Akane's supposed death.]] Not only does that ''not'' work, but Ryōga ends up having to physically carry him away to safety. After that, Ryōga's attempts to pull him out of it fall flat until they find out that [[spoiler:Akane's still alive.]]

** Near the end [[spoiler: Kaname delivers an ''epic'' GetAHoldOfYourselfMan to Sousuke to get him out of his HeroicBSOD, actually knocking him down with a [[DynamicEntry flying kick to the face]], and then hitting him several more times for good measure. * ''[[Series/{{Kikaider}} Android Kikaider: The Animation]]'': Towards the end of the series, Saburo/Hakaider, EvilCounterpart to Jiro/Kikaider, has spent an episode stomping up and down on Jiro's BerserkButton, [[spoiler: putting him in serious danger of warping his Gemini [[RestrainingBolt conscience circuit]] with all his violent emotions.]] Jiro's reluctant LoveInterest, Mitsuko, brings him back to reality by bitch-slapping him back into his usual gentle self. It plays [[TheCoconutEffect exactly like slapping a human,]] complete with the sound of flesh slapping flesh, despite the fact that it is long and repeatedly established that Jiro, even in human form, is MadeOfIron. Sure, it's almost SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming|Moments}}, but the guy was freaking ''bullet-proof'' one episode ago!

** [[spoiler:[[ShrinkingViolet Hinata]]]] gives one of these to Naruto, starting with a soft slap to the face which then turns into a caress, to help him [[spoiler:shake off Obito's BreakingSpeech after her cousin Neji's HeroicSacrifice]]. ''[[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome It works!]]''

** Dolores I'': Last fight between Dolores and Hathor it is a massive slapping attempt toward [[LoveMakesYouEvil Radium Lavans]] by James Link. He manages to funk it out of him, and in the end, [[RedemptionEqualsDeath Radium sacrifices himself for Earth]].

* In ''Manga/MagiLabyrinthOfMagic'' spin off Sinbad no Bouken, when [[TeamMom Rurumu]] politely asked [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Celendine/Serendine]] to assist with the company, the Princess not only refused rudely (despite the fact she and her attendants are living in the company grounds), she ''snapped'' at Drakon - who had suffered so much for her sake - for trying to defuse the situation. Rurumu ended up giving her an extremely gentle smack, and reminded her that she needs to think about her people's welfare instead of her own pride.

** Miyako (Yolei) and Hikari (Kari), later in the series, pull the trick on each other. ''In the same episode'', even. First, [[spoiler: when they're stranded at the Dark Ocean, Miyako (Yolei) panics because Hawkmon can't digi-evolve and Hikari (Kari) slaps her, but later admits she wishes she was open about her feelings like Miyako (Yolei) is. Later, when Hikari (Kari) has a much more serious FreakOut and almost loses it, Miyako (Yolei)(in what a lot of people consider her {{Crowning Moment of Awesome}}) slaps Hikari (Kari) and gives her a RousingSpeech to tell her she's not alone anymore.]]
