* Mega Gatling Pea. First off, he's no longer a upgrade to the Repeater, and like in the original Plants vs. Zombies, he fires off 4 high-velocity peas. Despite this, his level 1 sun cost of 400 is still ''cheaper'' than a 4-headed level 1 Pea Pod. However, Mega Gatling Pea also has the chance of unleashing his Plant Food ability by himself, which then after a massive volley of peas, he fires 5 peas instead of 4, making him even MORE deadly. Oh, and leveling him up increases the likelihood of him unleashing his Plant Food ability, up to a noticeable 10% at max level. Finally, as a Appease-Mint plant, he can be boosted to insane damage outputs by Pea Vine and by having a Pea Vined Torchwood in front nothing survives except for Jesters, Excavators and Imp Dragons.

* The Spikeweed/Wall Nut combo. The zombies are kept on the spikeweed by the wall-nut, and the spikeweed destroys them with minimal losses. For even more fun, try upgrading that Spikeweed to Spikerock and watch zombies go down in seconds.

* The Pumpkin can be placed on top of plants to give them some more health. That's pretty much placing a Wall-nut on top of them, making the annoying Imps and Digger Zombies far less of an inconvenience.

* Squash is farily cheap, has a moderate recharge rate and a powerful attack that can kill several zombies at once if they happen to occupy the same space. It also can attack backwards if placed behind a zombie and does not need time to be set-up unlike Potato Mine.

* The Digger Zombie is very useful when attacking rows with all plants facing the right side of the screen. He becomes borderline overpowered if you happen to deal with defence without Magnet-Shrooms, Potato Mines or Split Peas.
* The Gargantua [[NoSell brushes off any attacks from other plants and can survive one insta-kill plants]], plowing through a row with ease. Also, his OneHitKill attacks still allow you to gain sun through the squashed Sunflowers. Unlike several other examples here, Gargantua's broken status is actually ''[[PurposefullyOverpowered intentional]]'', and as such he appears very rarely.

Peas: you can have him chew through a row of plants from behind, then send an Imp or a Conehead zombie to finish the job.

* Holly Barrier + Intensive Carrot. Thanks to a glitch, any leaves from Holly Barrier that get revived by Intensive Carrot have their damage output increased enough to [[OneHitKill one shot]] ''any and all'' zombies they attack, ''including Jurassic Gargantuars''!

** Zen Garden boosted Chard Guard. All zombies hit with this will be sent back backwards, even if they are above or below the Chard Guard. For the endless zones, you can combine this with the Imitater to effectively keep the zombies crowded at the far right of the screen while your attacking plants wail away at their health.
** Zen Garden boosted Stunion. Put him down and he will stun all non-mechanical zombies within a 4x3 range for ''18 seconds''. Just like the aformentioned Chard Guard, you can combine this with the Imitater to keep the zombies from getting far as your attacking plants kill them.

health or combine with Blover and watch as all the zombies they knockback [[OneHitKill get launched off screen]].

Just like the aformentioned Chard Guard, you can combine this with the Imitater to keep the zombies from getting far as your attacking plants kill them. It gets even better if Stunion is level 5 as he'll poison all zombies he stuns, which helps weaken strong enemies and [[AntiArmor practically vaporizes armored threats]].

* Puff-shrooms, which are completely free and recharge fast, which means you can spam your field with Puff-shrooms to fend off the zombies. Even during daytime, when they are asleep, Puff-shrooms can be planted and replanted to stall any grounded zombie for a long time. Combine it with Imitater, and the one downside of recharge time is essentially gone, letting you effortlessly fill up the entire backyard with these things. And it's not like they're made of paper, either; a wall of three Puff-shrooms will take down most things short of a Buckethead, and nothing softer than a Football Zombie will be able to break a full line. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45lPyzs8suc Someone was able to beat the game without Sunflowers by relying on this plant.]]

* Thunder Snapdragon fires ridiculously painful orbs of electricity that explode on contact at enemies within 4 square range in front. The main impact kills most basics in 2 hits with the splash damage being more than Melon-Pult's, and at level 2 and above it has a chance to be a stronger electric orb that deals more damage and stun enemies it hits. It's powerful enough for one to solo bucketheads at level 1, and ''gargantuars'' at level 2-3. They can't be deflected by Jester, Hammer, or Nunchaku, or blocked by Excavator. Finally, despite his power, he's just as cheap as Snapdragon and Cold Snapdragon, costing 150 sun with a fast recharge.

* Bamboo Spartan joins Pokra and Headbutter Lettuce in the ranks of overpowered melee plants. Like Pokra, it has a range of 2 and attacks rapidly for good damage, piercing zombies in its range but doesn't inflict slow. However, it gets massively increased health thanks to its shield, and once the shield goes down ''its damage gets boosted to 3x''. Even without the shield, it has around twice the health of Headbutter Lettuce. The icing on the cake is that it deals massively increased damage to [[AntiStructure gravestones, obstacles]], pianos and barrels.
