* Eustace's diary entries are simply hilarious in their ridiculousness. His retelling of events on the voyage and his treatment by Caspian and the Pevensies range from gross exaggeration to BlatantLies, and the reader must at once wonder and chuckle at his sheer audacity and history revision. His description of the beautiful sea galleon Dawn Treader as a "rotten little thing" and "funny little toy boat" is almost as preposterously humorous as his describing the masterful, heroic and utterly honorable kings Caspian and Edmund as "dense, cowardly fiends" and "brutal tyrants" who seemingly take great pleasure in subjecting the poor, set upon Eustace to hellish levels of abuse, a great deal of it at the hands of their catspaw, the "frightful, dangerous brute" Reepicheep. Reading the entries out loud helps drive home how over the top and funny Eustace's off base character summations are.
