* Two thirds of the way through the film, Josh finally breaks down crying out of frustration and exhaustion, which is offscreen because Mike refuses to let Heather film it. We see Mike gently reminding Heather that filming Josh at this vulnerable moment is incredibly insensitive and that to get out of this situation they have to take care of each other and show respect. This is interrupted by Josh calling from offscreen to ask, in an exhausted voice, if anyone has any cigarettes left. He's clearly heartbroken when they call back that they're out.

''The Blair Witch Project'' is a movie with nearly as many funny moments as there are scary ones. Late in the movie, however, the humour often serves at being [[MoodWhiplash quickly dashed away by more despair.]]

* After Josh disappears, Heather finds a bundle of twigs outside their tent. While in the movie this and its contents are horrifying, amusingly, Heather's reaction is NOPE and just chucks it away rather than open it. The actress had to be told by the crew to go back and open it. It's a very realistic reaction in a genre full of people walking into dangerous things because the movies need to get a scare in.
