Caesar chews him out for being an "incompetent thief" but then points out the shear number of ContrivedCoincedences surrounding him at this point must mean the Goddess Fortuna (the goddess of Luck) has taken him as a [[CosmicPlaything pet]] and does not wish to anger the gods by harming him so rewards him instead.

** The newsreader is already amusing enough due to Ian [=McNeice=]'s MilkingTheGiantCow performance, but his exasperation with having to also read out paid ads makes him more annoyed over the course of the show. You can just hear his thoughts each time like "This month's bread is- (Oh for fuck sake, it's another Brotherhood of Millers ad!) -'True Roman bread, for true Romans (Gods save me...)"
