You Keep Using That Word is only about characters being called out In Universe for misusing a word.

* Spike gets visibly annoyed when Rainbow Dash asks him how to deal with Tank wanting to [[YouKeepUsingThatWord brumate]] because she thinks they are almost the same. While Spike may have been angered at Rainbow Dash's way of speaking (Which kind of combined a seeming FantasticRacism and extreme ignorance at how different Spike and Tank were to each other), it's very probable that Spike simply found Rainbow Dash's endless questions nonsensical - Spike may be a reptile, but he's a fire-breathing dragon. With the ability to produce fire, dragons should be endothermic, and as such they shouldn't brumate on cold weather. Spike would have no idea how to deal with brumation.

It's been established that some ponies are intrigued by their special talent even before they get their cutie mark (for example, Rarity seemed to have her heart set on fashion long before she actually got her cutie mark). So it makes perfect sense that three fillies who were absolutely obsessed with the concept of cutie marks more so than any other pony in Equestria would end up having their destiny related to them.

** Cadance might've also been pregnant at this time so even if she did know about the Bug Bear she wouldn't want to fight it and put her unborn child at risk. Also Shining Armor probably would've kept her from going and would have gone of to fight it instead.

If this were the case, then they would have straight up forbid stallions from competing. Also, we see that even in the Equestria Games, the events aren't segregated by gender, so it seems unlikely that a small local competition held for children to have fun with their siblings would be even more stringent on this than the pony Olympics

* If the committee has always been loose on what counts as a "sister", why couldn't the Sisterhooves Social be established as the Siblinghooves Social to include brothers officially instead of dancing around the topic of having stallions competing in the first place? As Big Mac's performance has shown, many of the activities were shown to lean towards a more physical edge, meaning that stallions would no doubt have an unfair advantage over most mares. While it would not happen to such an extreme in Big Mac's case, the difference would still be noticeable with victory being usually decided by the team with the strongest big brother.

** Add to that Twilight's attitude throughout the episode, pompously denying she is capable of jealousy, thus indirectly insisting she is a better person than Discord. If he had ever seen this demeanor from her before since his own outburst, it would make perfect sense he would target her to make her accept she is NotSoDifferent from him. Note Discord's rather excessive and well punctuated gloating about it afterwards, and that Twilight looks more ashamed than angry, she's being called out on acting HolierThanThou.

** Adding into that, there are so many reasons why the rest of the Mane 6 would've been a bad choice.
*** Twilight very likely would've tried the diplomatic approach, but seeing how rude and grumpy the Griffons are...it would've left much to be desired and as mentioned below, she would've been distracted by the messy library.
*** Applejack would probably have started a fight with the griffons after their rudeness takes a toll on her temper.
*** Rarity would've been too disgusted with how messy the place is and Rainbow Dash even notes that the Map should've sent her after seeing how messy the place really is.
*** And Fluttershy? Well, if you've seen her encounter with Gilda in season 1, it's probably for the best she wasn't summoned.

* ''Literature/WutheringHeights'' (er, Hooves) may just seem like a random choice for Fluttershy's book club, but -- [[https://youtu.be/f6V6-RcPjNY as pointed out here]] -- the episode and the book share a lot of themes: the land being a symbol that reflects the characters' conflict (the moors Heathcliff and Cathy roamed/the hills the two families live on), the precariousness of social class (Heathcliff's lower social class affecting his life/Twilight worrying over failing her royal title), conflicting families, with one representing the wildness of nature and the other being more developed but out of touch with society (the Earnshaws and Lintons/the Hooffields and [=McColts=]), the destructive aspect of unchanging love (Heathcliff's love for Cathy/the original settler's love for the animals), the tragedy of a cyclical history, and the consequences of revenge (Heathcliff getting vengeance on those who wronged him but ultimately having a VillainousBreakdown/the two families feuding for so long they forgot what started it and destroying the land).

** In fact, we actually see why Pinkie and Maud are the closest to each other. As established in Maud's debut episode, she actually shares plenty of quirks and eccentricities with Pinkie, albeit portrayed in a deadpan monotomous sense contrasting Pinkie's exuberance. Limestone and Marble while both having prominent and extreme personalities like their sisters, are more mundane in comparison. Marble is just extensively shy and not very talkative while Limestone is just abrasive, sour and salty. While still meaning it can be difficult to interact, it's not the same as Pinkie and Maud's oddities.

** Pinkie's extreme over-protectiveness of Fluttershy in the early episodes, in spite of Fluttershy being much older than her, could definitely come from her relationship with Marble Pie - she always treats Marble like a child in spite of them being twins.

* Why did Applejack lose touch with Coloratura? That would have been about the time her parents died.
** Actually, Applejack already had her cutie mark by the time she met Coloratura. And her parents died roughly before she earned it. So it could be that Applejack and Coloratura simply lost touch when the latter went to pursue her singing career.

This is because, unlike the Griffonstone's inhabitants, he didn't just integrate to the pony society, but also made himself a successful career and comfortable living; in this episode, we learn that, when griffins were at their best, their greed was mostly replaced by pride. * Pinkie complaining about the lack of singing, partying and bakeries, and Gilda's sarcastic comment about how Griffonstone really needs those, actually makes a lot of sense. As seen in 'Magical Mystery Cure', without some amenities to ease the tensions from living in a troublesome town, the inhabitants grow increasingly cranky and unfriendly. The griffins don't just live in 'a dump', but don't do a thing to try improving their living conditions, and those who achieve some measure of success are more than eager to leave the place.

** Not to mention, given the sorry state the local library is, the map likely didn't call Twilight not just because she would likely focus on the Idol and not focus on the ''real'' issue Griffonstone has much like Rainbow Dash, she would also go crazy over the destroyed books. Pinkie Pie even states that "Maybe it's good that Twilight didn't come."
* Gilda discovering the idol and attempting to grab it only to result in a literal FriendOrIdolDecision shows the real problem: The Idol's absence is only a symptom of the ''real'' problem Griffonstone has, which is the lack of friendship among the populace resulting in inherent greed and pride. If Gilda didn't have that problem, she wouldn't have dislodged the Idol in the first place and land herself in an easily avoided dilemma.

* Now with this episode taken into context, would Twilight have taken Celestia's orders of "making some friends" as a reason to attend Moondancer's party, resulting in GoneHorriblyRight all the way back in the first episode and dooming Equestria? Most likely no. Why? Because Twilight at that time only considered them acquaintances while having a low opinion on friendship overall and would have considered the earlier clause of having to go to Ponyville for festival preparations as well. Given how much Twilight worships Celestia, there's no way she would defy this part of the order. Not to mention, having the Elements of Harmony be wielded by only unicorns scream UnfortunateImplications. Since Celestia was their headmare back in when they were younger, it's possible that she knew about Twilight's Canterlot classmates and put emphasis on Ponyville for that particular year. Notice how previous and future Summer Sun celebrations all take place in Canterlot instead. Coincidence? I think not. The only plausible scenario that wouldn't screw Moondancer over would be if Twilight had attended the party after receiving the order... only to tell Moondancer that she has to go to Ponyville. The rest would then suggest having Moondancer move her party to Ponyville while attending the celebrations along with the others instead. Given Twilight's attitude at that time, that's sadly very unlikely.

* The CMC don't hesitate for a moment to try and help Diamond Tiara when they find out she's suffering and needs help. They already learned from dealing with Babs Seed that bullies ''can'' have reasons for being how they are, and that they're not beyond redemption.
* An awful lot of fans were irritated when the ending of [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E5FlightToTheFinish an episode in the last season]] didn't see Scootaloo getting her cutie mark, ending with a typical "maybe we can get cutie marks in [activity]!" reaction instead that seemed a little bit of a backwards step for the CMC. Now we're aware of why Scootaloo couldn't get her cutie mark in agility/scooter proficiency in that episode.
* Another way Diamond Tiara's name could be [[MeaningfulName meaningful]] ([[GeniusBonus might involve a bit of physics]]): Diamond Tiara is under a lot of pressure from her mother. What happens to coal when a lot of pressure is applied to it (if it doesn't turn to dust, of course)? It turns to ''diamond''.
* Diamond Tiara's human counterpart and her now make a lot more sense given how vastly different they seem; In the Pony world, Diamond Tiara has a member of the school board for a mother and thus could get away with bullying...but in the Human world, she's a freshman and seems a LOT nicer than her Equestrian Counterpart. This may seem off...unless you remember WHO is the reigning bully of the school. Plus in ''Legends of Everfree'', we discover what her dad is like. So it could be a case of MirrorSelf with how the two Diamond Tiaras turned out; either a spoiled brat or a SpoiledSweet.

* Why is Pinkie Pie so determines to keep the secret? Considering how much she [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E20GreenIsntYourColor hounded Twilight]] over keeping s secret, she wants to prove she lives up to the idea.
* In retrospect, choosing Fluttershy as the FakeDefector makes perfect for a reason other than stated in the episode. ** Fluttershy also deals with animals better than she does other Ponies, and is used to seeing all kinds of ways that animals live that differ from conventional Pony life. She wouldn't be very effective at helping the (sentient) animals around her if she judged how they lived based on her own culture's way of doing things. * Double Diamond's name seems a little out of place...unless one is knowledgeable in skiing. Double black diamond trails are known to be very difficult skiing trails--only recommended to be tried by advanced skiers. Now, what does Double Diamond do again?

* Twilight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight Glimmer share a common theme; but besides the "heavenly body phenomenon (Twilight/Sunset/Starlight) + Light-based verb (sparkle/shimmer/glimmer)" name, each is also a magically gifted unicorn (now alicorn, in Twilight's case) who has not only done something magically unprecedented in the series, but becomes a "charismatic" leader in their particular environments:
** Twilight Sparkle, the Princess of Friendship in Ponyville, leads her friends during their larger adventures. She completes Starswirl the Bearded's spell in "Magical Mystery Cure."
** Sunset Shimmer, the "Princess" of the Fall Formal multiple times in the world of Equestria Girls, leads the student body of Canterlot High by humiliation and fear [[spoiler: before her defeat and reform]]. She is the first pony to cross into another world (at least, onscreen), and harnesses the magic of Twilight's crown to accent her own power, transforming herself and controlling the school's populace.
** Starlight Glimmer is the leader of the "utopian" village via a philosophy of equality. While Twilight may have moved a Cutie Mark from one pony to another in "Magical Mystery Cure," Starlight is the first pony to outright remove the Cutie Mark itself.

** It's even better than that; the staff is a fake, just a piece of wood she found in the desert, the name sounds stupid and bland because she made it up!

* In retrospect, choosing Fluttershy as the FakeDefector makes perfect for a reason other than stated in the episode. After all, who was the only one that Discord failed to brainwash via BreakThemByTalking way back in season 2? She may not look it (or act like it sometimes) but Fluttershy is made of pretty stern stuff.

* The other ponies deciding to turn on Starlight also makes sense when you consider the idea that perhaps many of them had chosen to join...but [[NotWhatISignedUpFor seeing Starlight kidnap and torture six ponies who decidedly didn't]] might have made them have second thoughts.

* While Twilight's WakingNonSequitur doesn't make much sense, either in-context or not, Whinnyapolis (as an expy of the capital of a breadbasket state) would be a major producer of hay, and Manehattan is clearly an expy of BigApplesauce, so her response is at least marginally related to the delegates involved. * Twilight has to confront a smart unicorn whose view of friendship was devastated after a single, very close friend suddenly vanished from her life, and ends up isolating herself from what she thought caused her pain. Twilight therefore gives a brief peek to the past to see what caused all her troubles, and ends up making some effort to show her that there are many more friends around the world for her to meet, and she ends up giving up her harmful ways. This is essentially the conflict with Moondancer in this episode, but it gives the feeling of serious {{foreshadowing}} of what eventually happens with Starlight Glimmer in the season finale as their pasts have a similar structure.

* The Wonderbolts expelling Wind Rider without a second thought makes perfect sense when you consider as a veteran, he was held to a higher standard of behavior than other Wonderbolts. Wind Rider's comment about playing dirty also imply this may not have been the first time he did such a thing.

* As mentioned below and shown previously in "Magical Mystery Cure" and "Twilight's Kingdom", a cutie mark is intimately linked to the pony's talent and magic. Aside from enforcing IndividualityIsIllegal, it's easy to speculate about what plans Starlight Glimmer may have had for the marks in the vault, and whether she will attempt a similar scheme in an upcoming episode. After all, the official theme for the season according to the toy line is "Cutie Mark Magic".

* Why is Orchard Blossom not exactly questioned as being an Apple Family member despite the more upper-class look and acting? The Oranges are upper-class themselves; it wouldn't be much of a stretch for Orchard Blossom to be somewhere in-between the upper-class Oranges and more down-to-earth Apples.

** "Marks and Recreation" confirmed this brilliance; the ability of ponies to have more than one talent or interest, even outside of their cutie mark, is the whole point of that particular episode.
