* [[spoiler: it is heavily hinted that the Teraformers going berserk wasn't due to AIisaCrapshoot, but a psychotic former engineer on the Terraformer Project intentionally sabotaging the Shutdown order when it was discontinued. the rabid xenophobia/paranoia of the current-day Terrans (right up to quite liekly kill-and replacing/blackmailing Argon politicians and randomly attacking ANYONE they THINK may be looking into AGI) suggests this was never discovered]]

* What's different about the jumpdrive's power requirements that it can't use an internal reactor (like, I don't know, the ''guns'') and has to be fueled with energy cells?

** for non-terran Jumpdrives, the answer is simple. it is explicitly stated in the earlier games/novella included on one of the X:2 release's discs that the X-universe Jumpdrive, being reverse-engineered from what was LEFT of the X-shuttles by the Goner Temple, is intentionally Designed to ONLY be compatible with energy cells to reduce the potential harm someone woh is....less then moral, could cause if they acquired one

*** To sweeten the pie even further, that's just the in-game display. Which doesn't match the lore (oddly) at all. According to the X-cyclopedia, Aldrin is a planet--an originally uninhabitable planet--but a planet nonetheless that was terraformed by friendly AGI ships.

* Khaak ships can't be boarded in TC, probably because of OperatorIncompatibility: as per the encyclopedia, individual Khaak are only 80 cm tall (the average humanoid is about twice that).

*** Birds are also just descendants of reptiles. In a few million years, the Teladi might just look the part.

** Related: Given that they're not part of the Community of Planets and thus would not be signatories to the Energy Accord, why would the Terrans also be entirely reliant on solar power plants?

* [[http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=3936556 This thread]] raises an interesting conundrum: why don't military docks sell Cargo Lifesupport Systems? They're the only upgrade actually necessary for carrying marines, which they ''do'' sell.

* [[MasterOfNone Boron military ships suck]], put simply. But the Boron are pacifist. The only reason they'd have a military is in case of an outside threat... Wait, is that a Split Python?

[[AC:FridgeHorror]]
* A few decades after the end of the Terran Conflict, the entire [[PortalNetwork gate system]] disables itself. What happens to all the colonies that rely on food and tech shipments to survive?
** It's reasonable to assume that ships with the more expensive jump drives will take care of it. I mean sure the people on these colonies will be paying an arm and a leg, but they wont starve.
*** ... but jumpdrives apparently work using gates: they teleport you to one far away. Without gates, unless you have a jump beacon to jump to, jumpdrives are useless.
*** ... except that the Kha'ak apparently don't need them.
*** The Kha'ak have point-to-point jumpdrives according to WordOfGod. Nobody else does.
** [[{{Planetville}} Planets are not villages.]] Aldrin survived eight hundred years without any contact with the outside world whatsoever, and it's just an airless rock. Granted they had friendly Terraformers to help.

[[AC:FridgeLogic]]
* Many of the alien ships in the game are [[AnimalMotifs named after Earth animals]], which makes little sense in itself, but upon further examination it makes even less, for example the clearly Lizard influenced Teladi going for an Avian theme, with ship names like Vulture and Albatross. In contrast, the Terran ships are named after things like swords and Japanese cities.
** The Earth derivation is justified by WordOfGod: The nonhuman ships' names are actually ReportingNames assigned to them by the Argon. Their real names are unpronounceable. No idea why the reptilian Teladi use avian names, though.
