Since Klingons believe so much in MightMakesRight, a direct intervention by Starfleet could be used by the House of Duras to [[PropagandaMachine make Gowron appear weak]] and [[NiceJobBreakingItHero backfire completely]]. However, [[OriginalPositionFallacy the exact same is true of Duras]]: proving that Lursa, B'Etor, and Toral were getting Romulan help causes their support to evaporate and allows Gowron to secure full control of the Empire within weeks.
