* The villagers that join Robin are said to be the very best men England has to offer, yet are hilariously incompetent, but that's because they aren't really the best men, those have gone with King Richard to the Crusades. The best after them are guarding the border with Scotland, maintaining the English dominion over Ireland, guarding England's possessions on the continent that are threatened by France, or have already been snagged by John in his militia. The villagers are the best ''that remain available'' - the ones unfit for combat but still capable of working.

* About half an hour in to "Robin Hood: Men in Tights," Broomhilde, Maid Marian's chaperone/lady-in-waiting tells Marian to get out of the tub before her chastity belt rusts. At the end of the movie, Robin's key FITS in the lock, but the mechanism won't work. Guess she was in there a little too long...

* FridgeLogic: So... how does Maid Marian [[NobodyPoops "go to the bathroom"]] with that chastity belt on?
* FridgeLogic: Where did Robin's father get the key to Maid Marian's chastity belt in the first place?
** An arranged marriage with Marian's father. Rabbi Tuckman says that Locksley and Bagelle is famous.
*** Actually, he says "You two were made for each other! C'mon, Locksley and Bagelle! Can't miss!" It took me a long time to realize, but it's just a horrible pun. Lox is often used a bagel topping, especially popular with Jewish New Yorkers (like Mel Brooks).

** Presumably the same way any woman would use the toilet while wearing a chastity belt...

* Kind of have to dig deep for this one: King Richard the Lionhearted continued his father Henry II's amiable working relationship with the Jewish people of England. While things were never great for Jews of the time, Richard at least continued the tradition of allowing them to live peacefully in their own communities, did not denounce or libel them, and allowed them practice their trades (which at the time consisted mainly of money-lending, as Christians were forbidden by Biblical mandate to charge interest on loans. This probably wasn't due to any fondness on Richard's part; he was trying to fund his Crusade and it was advantageous to keep the people who could loan him money in business). As soon as Richard departed, however, English Jews immediately lost the little immunity Richard provided and were subject to persecution and murder. The upshot is that ''of course'' Rabbi Tuckman supports Robin Hood: Robin's fighting to preserve the land for Richard's return, which to Tuckman means the return of relative safety for his people.

** The purpose of prisons before the mid-19th Century was not to confine prisoners for penitentiary terms, but until their sentence had been carried out. Sentences for heinous crimes were likely to be executed without delay - and of course, RuleOfFunny applies.

* The assassin sent by Don Giovanni perches in a "Folio Depository" and aims at Robin from an upper-story window. A folio is a type of bound book.
** Is that one not a reference to Lee Harvey Oswald's positioning when he assassinated John F. Kennedy?

* Horror: Some of the prisoners that escaped in the beginning must have been there for a legitimate reason, like murder.

* This is probably stupidly obvious, but it took me a while to realise that Rabbi Tuckman is supposed to be this movie's equivalent of Friar Tuck.
