** it goes beyond that, too. Van makes straight slashes in the air to call Dann down from the sky. Ray shoots bullets in a circle into the ground, to call Volkain from underground.

* Van mentions he used to be constantly broke and struggling for his next meal, to the point he mostly joined on with Elena at first simply for a job with decent room and board. This might explain his obsession with smothering condiments all over everything because condiments are typically free at restaurants so if you don't have much money for food it can be a money saving trick to order the cheapest blandest thing on the menu and flavor it up with free condiments. It's just a habit he picked up that he still does even with good quality food that doesn't need it.

* Van, who is dressed like a cowboy actually uses a sword for his weapon. Ray, who is clearly styled like a samurai uses a gun. Not only that, but when Van's blade isn't out he holsters the handle like a gun, and Ray's gun has an excessively long handle that also looks and is carried like a sheathed sword.

** If you consider how the other Original Seven [[spoiler: met their end, it's not too odd. Gadved's exploded, Woo's exploded, Melissa's got sliced in half by Ray and Carossa's followed soon after. Michael's just got sliced in a V shape so probably didn't hit him, and Fasalina's just stopped working. They didn't explode so they were exceptions.]]

**I believe it's stated about halfway into the series that a portion of The Claw's Original Seven [[spoiler: either aren't as extensively modified as Van and his contemporaries were or aren't modified at all, due to refinements made in the Seven's technology since the Claw took over.]] Since that removes their need for synchronization, they could probably survive without interfacing with their Armor.

moved to headscratcher, b/c it seemed to fit better there

* So, it's sometimes assumed that Van and the other Original Seven pilots have Type III {{Immortality}}. They certainly do have HealingFactor, which MIGHT keep them from aging. But if this is true, why does Gadved look middle aged? Anime age is hard to tell, but Gadved definitely doesn't look like a young man. Are we supposed to think that he didn't receive reconstructive surgery until he was in his 40s or 50s? On the other hand, if he's NOT immortal, why is it that Gadved sometimes makes it sound like he was part of the real original group of armor riders? Half the time the things he says make it sound like was part of the first Original Seven, who came to the planet generations ago. The other half of the time, he sounds like he's merely reporting things he heard from others. (For instance, when he talks about why Saudade ended up in the ocean, he seems to be reporting something from 100 years ago that he himself did not witness.) Either way, it doesn't seem consistent.
** Maybe he DID have to wait that long, for whatever reason. I can think of a lot. And the inconsistencies can be explained because he's just a man; even if he was alive when Saudade fell (for example), its unlikely that he actually witnessed it, and quite possible that he didn't even know about it until years later.
