I've been thinking of the ''Water Orb'' Saga and came to this conclusion: TheHero is actually [[HeWhoFightsMonsters terrified of themselves]] and the sheer power they'd wield if they were drunk on {{the dark side}}, which is why [[spoiler: there's a MirrorMatch halfway through.]]
** Which puts the Cryptic training mission into perspective...
* In Book 2, during the Rising Fire war, a quest titled "Xan Hates Imps" loads the Xan Armor and basically shows Xan running around killing imps that are coming from another world simply because [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin he hates them]]. Since Xan is a crazy Pyromancer who's physically surrounded by healing fire, it's possible he is just acting like his usual crazy self or might simply want to get rid of the competition. [[spoiler: In the "Alexander's Diary" quest line, one of the ways Warlic used Alex's fear of fire against him was through summoning fire monsters from another world to attack him, including a good number of imps. Xan most likely still remembers the torment these imps used to cause him, so he's merely enacting retribution for past wrongs.]]
* The deliciously evil Doom weapons can be purified into the less evil but still useful Destiny weapons. Furthermore, Two of them share the same effect and similar wording of that effect ("Hahahahah!
