As the series has now been over for a couple of years, I think I can make some changes in my previous entry.
Changed line(s) 2 (click to see context) from:
* Matty Roth, is increasingly becoming a UsefulNotes/CheGuevara parallel. Like Che, Matty starts off as a non-combatant looking to do some good. (Albeit a reporter instead of a doctor). He becomes increasingly stricken by what he sees and and passionate about a cause. (In Matty's case the welfare of the people in the DMZ). Both get taken under the wing of a charismatic, rabble-rouser leader looking to come into power. Both abandon their non-combatant profession to further support the cause. Matty even gets accused by the propaganda network Liberty News of running a "death squad", and at times his hair and beard get increasingly long and ragged, although not quite Che style. Since the series isn't over yet, it remains to be seen if Matty winds up the same or not.

[[AC: Fridge Logic]]
* It's highly unlikely that Manhattan would be able to survive cut off from outside supplies for any amount of time, let alone a decade, despite the attempted handwaves with things like rooftop greenhouses and Wilson growing some of his food in basements, even for the 400, 000 survivors since the fighting started. Matty describing how everyone thinks the DMZ is just rats and cannibals in the beginning is probably too optimistic for what it would be if the situation occurred in reality.
** Of course, in reality there would also be all sorts of charities and humanitarian organizations donating food and essentials to people trapped there, not to mention the UN, and both the US and Free States would probably be trying to gain a propaganda edge by feeding the hungry people there. Not to mention that in a truly ideal world areas like Central Park, Fort Tryon Park, and Inwood Hill Park (an old growth, virgin forest tucked into the northwest corner of Manhattan) would be turned into cooperative farms, but that's obviously asking for too much.
